Wow, Mama Mia’s is gone it’s the end of an era. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming; Rosemary may have pissed off a lot of people over the years while she owed this place, but there was no doubt about it she was the heart of this restaurant. When she sold several years ago I knew it was just a matter of time. I have eaten here since I could eat solid food, I remember having a few birthday parties here over the years. The pizza was just so-so, but still better than a chain restaurant. Mainly it was a good place to come after work or for parents to meet over a pitcher of beer while their kids were entertained by the classic arcade games, and Rosemary knew everyone.

Boycott everything Luisa Hanson touches. She is evil, her overpriced ‘food’ has rodent feces in it, and her legacy is similar to that of a computer virus. If her name is associated with it, run. Run like the wind!

I’ve been passing by and eying the specials board for weeks before I went for dinner the other night on my way home from the gym. I usually like to give a new place a month or so to work out the kinks. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I ordered the spaghetti with muscles in a tomato sauce and the tiramisu. Both were great. I just wish they’d print takeout menus so I could order pizza for delivery.

I think people tried this place when it was sooo brand spankin new the kinks had not been ironed out. We went in and it was completely empty, except for one couple next to us having vino and appetizers. There were three of us gals and we decided to get our own small pizzas. We started with the basic Marguerita pizza $ 10 and added whatever toppings we wanted for an extra $ 1.20. Not bad. The pizzas were huge and only ate a little less than half. So we all had leftovers which was awesome. Now, the wait staff was awesome. The pizza was really good and they have a great crushed garlic condiment you can put on along with oregano and parm cheese. We split a bottle of wine and when we asked for recommendations he didn’t do the usual, recommend the most expensive bottle, rather the modest priced one’s but good. We picked a bottle and when he came over, he said he had a different one that was significantly more but he was going to honor the price of the cheaper one we have gone with initially. Points! When we finished the bottle he came over and topped us off. He also brought us Port at the end of our meal. Made me feel like I was back in Italy where everyone is friendly and they’re breaking out the Port and Limoncello and endless wine. He was totally going to give us more wine too but it was getting late. I also liked that the couple next to us was waiting for their son and the kitchen was almost closing and when they wanted to order pizza there was absolutely no attitude. So bottom line, great service and while I realize hooking up the booze won’t last forever, nor will I expect it, these little touches make me want to go back.

We were suckered in to this place when we saw a picture of Guy Ferrari from the food channel in the window. The place was completely empty. No waiters, no hostess waiting to greet us, and no customers. Eventually someone came out from th3e back and we were seated and ordered. My boyfriend ordered the calzone which was surprisingly good. The bread was perfectly cooked and the mushrooms and sausage tasted perfect. I ordered the lasagna which was generous in portions and pleasing to my taste buds. The service was a miss. Even though we were the ONLY customers the service was poor. We really had no service. Our dining experience was ruined when a drunk man came into the restaurant and started singing loudly and dancing around the restaurant. He even stood at our table and danced and played air guitar for us. haha I couldn’t help but laugh. I have never felt so humored and scared at the same time. Overall, it was an interesting experience. The drunk man was the icing on my cake for this restaurant.

Tried Mama Mia’s for the first time last night and wasn’t too impressed. The pizza was good, but nothing to rave about. Also didn’t love the Caesar salad. For pizza it seemed a bit over done and over priced. They had a large wine list and a beautiful wall of wine. The tables were somewhat awkward and it was quite loud in the restaurant. The staff was also somewhat awkward, but I think the restaurant has only been open for a week or two so maybe worth trying again in a few months.

I found this new restaurant while searching the website, trying to redeem a credit for an old gift certificate(unused because«Visit Thai» closed). So I decided to try this place. I got a spinach salad($ 10) and a pizza marguerita($ 10) with the house special garlic sauce. The interior surroundings are elegant, modern and quiet. The left wall is covered by a huge wooden wine rack. The bar occupies the right side. This place took over the space formerly occupied by Vinoteca wine bar, but they are still in the process of replacing the name on the awning. So currently a handwritten piece of paper on the window, and the menu are the only items that display the actual name of the restaurant. The handwritten note indicates free delivery, probably only available for this neighborhood. There’s 2 tables outside, so that counts as outdoor seating. The restaurant description includes a courtyard and a private room, but I have no idea where those are. The menu is relatively simple, and many items seem kinda expensive. But since this is located on a pricey neighborhood, it’s expected. Pizzas are priced at $ 9 – 24(S, M, L, XL), depending on size. You also have the option to choose toppings($ 1.20−1.70) to make your own custom pizza. The gourmet signature pizzas are $ 15 – 19(8 listed, personal size). There’s 5 salads(spinach, caesar, mista, caprese, calamari), 2 fried appetizers(calamari, zucchini), 3 types of calzone(ricotta, sausage, veggie), 3 types of lasagna(beef, chicken, florentine with vodka sauce), and 3 types of canelone(veal, seafood, manicotti with alfredo mushroom sauce). The wine list looks extensive. I also saw a small colored paper listing desserts but I didn’t order any. My spinach salad takeout had bacon, gorgonzola and chopped walnuts. The bacon in my spinach salad was cold but still tasted good, and the honey balsamic vinaigrette was flavorful. The pizza was okay, like any average pizza. Overall, both items were well prepared, no complaints. The staff was very friendly. So my rating is a solid 3 stars. The best deals(appetizers and pastas for $ 5-$ 10) can be found on the happy hour specials, available 3:30pm — 7pm. Hours of operation are a little fuzzy. Daily 4−10pm would be a safe guess. Lunch(11am-2pm) is only available by reservation(minimum 10), so normally they’re closed during the day. Dinner starts at 4:30pm, but drinks and happy hour specials are available from 3:30pm until 7pm. Their description indicates cocktails(only saw beer & wine) available until 2am, but I was told they close at 10pm. At 10:15pm I was told they close at 11pm because it’s Friday, but sometimes they might close at 9pm. Confused? me too. So my guess is that since they’re new, closing time varies with amount of business.
