About 4 years ago, I was referred to Sergio Martinez by a friend, in hopes he could help me strengthen my knees, which had always been subject to meniscal tears and other painful injuries which often kept me sidelined from the sports I wanted to pursue. After meeting with Sergio, his assessment after watching my movements and strength was that I had«loose/hypermobile joints» and that nothing could be done to improve my knees. While I understood that my joints were hypermobile, I didn’t believe that I was sentenced to a life of the most mundane physical activity and precluded from pursuing activities like long distance riding and strength training, both of which I enjoy. Essentially, he told me I was relegated to physical therapy-type exercises like band stretches and the like, and that anything beyond that put me at risk of injury. Um, doesn’t everyone have risk of injury for any sport? Fast forward to this year: after working with a sports chiropractor who specialized in ART, I completed a half-Ironman with a great time, including the 13 mile half-marathon portion. I worked closely with this new chiropractor in the months leading up because I was very concerned about strengthening my knees. And guess what? I finished with a competitive time and with no injury whatsoever to my knees. Dr. Martinez might be fine for the office worker or the most physically risk-averse, non-active person. But he was not the right person to help me enjoy an active lifestyle and in fact, incorrectly tried to dissuade me it.

I have been coming to Sergio for a couple months now to work on my broken wrist and I am so glad that I found him! He really takes the time to explain what he’s doing, and I have absolutely seen results. He has a very calm and friendly personality, and is interesting to talk to… It makes the nearly mile hike to his office from mine well worth it. The appointments take longer than I expected(usually almost the full hour), but that makes me feel like it’s totally worth the money. Highly recommended!

Mr. Sergio Martinez is as good as one can find for sports injury and orthopedic PT. His patience and ability to spend the time needed in order to gain rehab progress are second to none. His approach is spot on without needing to completely overpush the patient like most other PTs found in this«hurried» city. Mr. Martinez has a true feel for his work one that results in results, coupled with enough experience to know what NOT to do.

I had a great experience with Sergio Martinez. I was referred to him by my GP due to pain in my back, shoulder, arm, and neck. He quickly identified the source of my back pain — pinched cervical nerves, which other doctors had overlooked. He applied ultrasound and massage, which helped deal with the existing pain, but most importantly took the time to work with me on my posture and habits so that the problems due to the pinched nerve would not recur. I put these suggestions to practice immediately and within a week the pain was gone. I am returning to him for some work on my TMJ.
