Maybe my review is a bit biased but here goes… It’s thanks to the Meridian Gallery and the people that run it that my life is where it is now. My life isn’t perfect but without them it would have been much much worse. Let me elaborate a bit. I met Anne Brodsky and Tony Williams(gallery directors) when I was just a kid in High school. Thanks to everything they have done for the community I was able to come in as an artist intern in a youth program they run and learn from some of the best artists I know today; like a man by the name of Devin Cecil-Wishing, a modern day Rembrandt in my opinion. It’s thanks to them and their youth program I have a good idea where my life is going now. What a lot of people don’t realize is that this is a non profit and they do give youth useful skills and most importantly a direction in life and I think that is the most beautiful thing about this space. This place has a lot of history and it’s a great space that I am proud to say help in maintaining once and a while. It’s roomy and versatile, for art or for events but like Sasha below me states it is something like coming home and having family show you around. Every show is different but is great to stop by and look at. In any case, all I can say is I review this place after many years because I feel they really run a great gallery but I also feel like they change a lot of lives like a mines and people should know a bit more about this facet they have. Anyways I hope that helps and you should check them out.

This place is a beautiful event venue. I’m not crazy about the art inside, but what they do for the community is pretty cool. Had an event here and can’t say I was super happy. The contract leaves a lot of room for interpretation and we ended up have to pay more because of miscommunications. It could have been the guy I dealt with leading up to the event, who was all of a sudden gone. but all in all, not too pleased.

As with most galleries, it’s only as good as the art that’s in it. This one however doubles as home base for the Phoenix Supper Club, a once in a while pop up from Chef Tommy Halvorson. The art the night I went unfortunately took a background to the food presented that night but it’s slightly north of the bustle of Union Square which makes it hiding in plain sight.

This is an oasis in the middle of Union Square. Anne Brozdsky is one of those women who will welcome you into her hardwood floored, white walled gallery and personally show you each piece of art that she is featuring. It’s almost like going to your auntie’s house to see art, she’ll tell you a story about each artist, and it’s just as magical to listen to her talk as it is to look at the art work. They have been a terrific community resource and constantly support musicians, children artists and others that most galleries have long forgotten; but the artwork is fresh and the feel is clean and crisp, it’s defiantly worth a visit. So much more intimate that Hang across the way.
