This is my go-to gallery for that something special. Whether you are a local, or visiting San Francisco from afar, make it a point to grab something special. They even deliver and will set it up for you. Whether you are settling for that small gift for the person that has everything, or you want that something special for you, this is your gallery. I continue to visit and purchase here, because the service is excellent, and unparalleled.

They have several show rooms with different names on each but you can recognize them by the amount of stuff crammed in and all the shiny chandeliers and sparkly things visible from the street. Expect them to use every hard sell technique in the book. Great packing and prompt shipping of the things we bought. Everyone loves the chairs, but I am still not sure whether we paid full retail or got a great deal.

At the time I went, they were advertising discounts, and had tables displaying trinkets for $ 10. Yet were disinterested, bordering on rude and surly, to people casually dressed and«obviously» not looking for the pricey pieces packed in their stores. Uh, maybe these people might still want to buy something? Like one of the trinkets you’re having so much trouble selling at $ 10?

We stopped by this store whilst on holiday from Australia. The Manager of the store went out of his way to make the shopping experience enjoyable. Once we got back to Australia our purchases arrived well packed and in excellent condition. Thank you!

I have been looking for a chandelier for over a year! Last weekend on our way to have lunch at Chinatown(oriental Pearl!!!) we saw right a the gate that beautiful gallery. What attracted me the most were the chandeliers and we knew we will find our chandelier(finally!) here. The salesperson was very helpful and the price was fair but he tried to sell us more items but decided just on the chandelier. i’m looking forward recieving it tomorrow!

Just received our delivery. So excited to have these new pieces at our home. The staff at Michael were very helpful and knowledgable about their products. We purchased a chandelier and rug to go in our formal dining room I couldn’t be happier and definitely will be back for more. Michael fine art is a great store for unique home décor, big or small

During a recent visit to San Francisco I was on a mission for specific pieces to fill my new home. After living in San Francisco for several years I was familiar with the places I wanted to check out. I had never shopped at Michael but had certainly been aware of their Chinatown entrance presence. The store is filled with an interesting and elaborate collection of antiques and art from all over which I found quite impressive. I was particularly interested in their rug collection. The salesperson was very helpful in helping me narrow down the type of rug that suited my taste and budget. After a friendly negotiation, we ended up right where I was comfortable including shipping to my Nashville home. These are the types of experiences that make a loyal lifetime customer. Thank you to all involved!

I’ve been in this place a few times. The layout of the store is beautiful, but the prices are outrageous! No, seriously. Outrageous! They ask where you’re from, ALWAYS say a neighborhood in San Francisco, because they intentionally screw the tourists even MORE than they screw the residents! If you try to haggle, they MAY(or may not) come down around 5%. They own 3 stores total, all right next to each other. One is also called«Michaels» a couple doors down, and another one across the street on the corner. Best part yet? They ALL act the same. In fact, there are of course, other art galleries in that neighborhood, and they don’t have an issue telling you how bad Michael’s is & how much they mark up their prices/treat their customers. In fact, a store around the corner was the one who told me the«Where are you from?» trick! Save yourself the time, keep your wallet in your front pocket, and at most– browse. Then go to the other shops in the neighborhood & see if you can find the same or similar thing for less.

very charming family owned business. Huge inventory consisting of several stories in 3 major store fronts within a half block of each other. Great variety of art and décor, you will surely find something you love. We purchased two engravings, a set of cut crystal urns and bowl, and a statue. Shipping and handling are free for most items and it is fun to haggle a bit over prices. I am very happy with everything I purchased. It was delivered to my home on the other side of the country within a week of my return and the freight company called and made arrangements for delivery(that they actually met). I will be buying more as my needs and wallet allow.

I’ve walked by this place a hundred times, and never walked in till last week. Inside is one of the most amazing collections of furnishings and other special items(like a grand piano, massive chandeliers, solid gold chess set) I have ever seen. None of it would work in my condo, and I probably couldn’t afford any of it anyway. But the collection — all 3 floors of it, in the larger of their two buildings — is definitely worth checking out.

Michael Fine Art and Antique has shops on both sides of Grant and right inside the Dragon Gate leading into Chinatown. What first got my Son’s attention recently was the art outside the shops. The most popular to sit and take a photo is the«Monkey Bench» on one side of the street. And if you look on the other, there are a few cool metal sculptures to admire and caress. Inside both places are big ornate objects, most of which would break my budget and then would have to be shipped home. I particularly enjoyed the selection of murano glass.
