I had the pleasure of meeting Eileen Mullins last week, who invited me to enjoy an hour long massage conveniently located in the Financial District of SF(so convenient– perfect for lunch breaks!). I arrived at 10AM on Friday and was greeted by some very friendly faces in the lobby. The overall space was inviting and comfortable– not something easy to come by in the hustle and bustle of the FiDi we all know and love(most of the time). I was welcomed into the lobby area and greeted by Eileen with coffee. I went to her studio overlooking the Embarcadero– but to calm down my hyperactive self, she made sure the curtains were soon closed and candles were already lit. It’s very, very, VERY hard to calm me down. I did chat for a good 10 minutes or so into the massage, and Eileen prompted me to please relax and enjoy. She sensed my personality within minutes of meeting me the week prior– and knew exactly what to say to help me relax and calm down. Once I was FINALLY calm, Eileen was able to work the tension out of my shoulders(isn’t that always a problem spot for women? I hear we carry our stress in our neck and upper back). She also understood that it’s probably impossible to ever rub my lower back as I am more ticklish than Pillsbury Dough Boy– unlike other massage therapists, Eileen actually understood that I didn’t want that at all! This is a first for me. She worked so much tension out of me, for previously in the week I resigned from my stifling 9 – 5 job and was running around the city all week like a chicken with my head cut off. Eileen’s massage was the perfect start to a relaxing Friday– it was well worth it! Let her know Kristin F. sent you if you’re fortunate enough to visit her… I will be back soon to have a facial with Eileen!
