The waitress does not understand English. We order non spicy and repeat 3 times. It come up extremely spicy w papers and she say it is spicy on manu. We have to return 3 dishes which is all dishes we ordered. TV was blasting w ice hockey with high valume, we had to make request to change table. At the same time, they r playing club music. If you want to experience noisy and no English communication, Herr is the place for you

The security can be quite rude, one acted like a babysitter because he was walking around telling people to get their feet off the table, to stop sitting in each others laps, don’t put your drinks on the railing, don’t leave the bathroom door open(it was open because there was a line coming out of it…), etc. At the end when we were waiting for a friend to get out of the restroom one guy came up to us and said«are you going to pay us?» We looked at each other and said«what?» because we were confused… he replied with«yeah, I mean you’re making us wait for you so are you going to pay us?» Mind you, it was 2:10am when he was telling us this… the event was from 12−2am so we were only there for tops 10 minutes more… The reason why I’m giving them 3 stars is because a) my friend ended their show, he was one of their three DJ’s that night. DJRAPH! WHOO! b) they were offering food for sale, which no one ordered, that was very cheap and sounded good – but who knows? However, a) they were understaffed, only two people worked the bar for that event… then again, it was a pretty small event all things considered, but only 2 bartenders? Some girl stole a bottle of wine right in front of them and no one saw! That’s a problem, haha. b) the security was a bit rude and very slow in letting people in, we got in fine because we were early c) took a good hour or two before things got fun because NOONE wanted to dance d) the drinks were watered down, but ew, I still didn’t like them

My friends and I came to this joint as a promotional event for endless minosas. Although they were delicious and the DJ was awesome, we left severely disappointed in the food and the service. Our server was nice but seemed like she hadn’t thoroughly been trained. Our food came at different intervals, which is odd since there were five of us. The food was lukewarm… and it wasn’t a brunch, it was more of an appetizer. The servers ignored us and then when we finally gave up and went to the front to pay the bill… they didn’t even know what cards they took. Please don’t come here for food. The bar should be alright though

This review is for Million Thai’s event«Funky Funday» held on March 30th2014. I used to go to Million Thai when it was in the downtown SF area and when I heard they were starting a brunch service with bottomless mimosas on Van Ness– it didn’t take a lot of convincing to want to give it a try. A friend suggested we all go(featured by ) and it was a total of 4 us around 2pm. I come in and it’s like a club in the daytime, the music was on point the whole time we were there. DJ took us back to the 90’s, 00’s and today’s hip hop and R&B. The DJ is the ONLY reason why the visit was not a complete disaster. Two of my friends came in first and was told that you had to order bottomless mimosas at the bar(okay you guys remember that, they done ordered and was charged for two). So me and my friend followed about 20 minutes later and it took over 15 minutes to be addressed. Looks like there were two waiters, one male and one female. The dining area was NOT full at all, people occupied about 20 percent of the area so I’m thinking okay, should be a quick and easy brunch The male waiter took our order and I decided on the salad and one pulled pork slider and of course, a bottomless mimosa(you guys are keeping track right, we are at 4 bottomless mimosas total). Now the waiting game begins. I’m pretty patient, but not when it comes to alcohol. Over ten minutes pass and I’m thinking«Where the hell is my drink?». I’ve been sitting in here for almost half an hour… It’s slow in here and if I’m correct, it’s champagne and orange juice, there’s only 5 groups of guests soooooo what’s taking so long?! I see the male waiter by the bar and I go up to him and ask him how long does it take for my drinks? Guess what guys, they done ran outta cups! Tell me why, they brought a glass AND a plastic cup?! wtf?! And it’s slow?! Wow, okay. Got my drink, we are all having a good time. The DJ again, amazing. The female waitress comes up to us and says she’s going to give us two free mimosas, so two of us don’t have to pay for it, okay recovery tactic well played. So we are sitting, listening to music, we get refilled with cups of all sizes(It looked like as if someone went up into their cupboard and started serving people with whatever cups were available) but drinks came in nonetheless and then we start feeling a little tipsy… Where’s our food?! It’s already 45 minutes after we ordered and as far as I remember, salads take about 5 minutes and pulled pork I would assume is already cooked so even if I added all the orders that was placed during that time, there’s no way it should take that long. We address this to the male waiter and he tells us the cooks are plating our food. Good line… We wait another 15 minutes before it comes out and at this time, I called my salad, «The Hour Salad», it was okay at best. They give me my pulled pork slider and HELLNO. Why it look like a mcdonalds hamburger SMASHED? This was«plating my food»??? I was so upset that I returned it. There’s no way I waited an hour for something to show up like garbage(image uploaded), I was disgusted. More people came into the event and the more frazzled the two waiters became. Obviously, there was no concrete system between them, the bar, and the cooks because I noticed guests having to walk up to the waiters to pay. The female waitress asked if we were okay and I’m pissed at this time, and she asked me what she can do, and I said«a refill would be nice». She seemed sympathetic, but why she take 20 minutes though? I had to ask her again, and then the male waiter and they said they are waiting on the bar… Who wasn’t even packed. Do they brew and carbonate the champagne then and there? So we get our refills, the rest of our food, still mad about the service/wait, but mimosas help forgive these kind of things… but wait… this is the big kicker: We get our bill and the waitress puts in 2ADDITIONAL mimosas AND the pork slider I returned. WAIT. So there’s four of us, two mimosas were already paid for, and two more are going to be charged despite her saying two was on the house AND you trying to charge the mcdonald-reject-lookin plate? We bring this to the attention of both the waiters and they said that since they are giving us free mimosas that they still charged the slider. How that go? HOWTHATGO?! Does not make sense. We got four mimosas and got charged four mimosas. NOTHING was on the house AND they trying to charge something I did not accept. We all sobered up real quick because of this bull. We ended up just paying for everything minus the pulled pork slider.

Great friendly service and excellent happy hour specials and lunch specials — love the fried tofu! Green curry with beef is actually very good as well. I think the place is usually empty due to it’s location but for the price, it’s a must go for great deals on decent Thai food! Lunch special is a great deal!

We went to Million Thai on Van Ness last night for their Happy Hour before going to Harri’s Steak House across the street. The sign behind the bar said ‘beer and a shot happy hour from 4 to 7′. We ordered a beer and a shot, but the bartender said ‘we no longer do shots with happy hour’. Strange… it was right there on the sign. Kinda odd. Spacious place. Apparently the Karaōke goes off this place… just no shots, so disregard what the sign says!

Late thursday night, lillian asks if I want dinner and just finished studying so I was like, «sure why not». Go with a group of friends to try this place. This new location of Million Thai was the old location of the bar Rendezvous. Initially when we first went in, everything looked nice, the menu was varied and offered many types of thai selections. I chose the Roast Duck fried rice and while it looked good, tasted preety bland. The mojito that I ordered tasted preety syrupy and I was not able to finish the drink. They also forgot 2 of my friends orders and it was not until we told them that they finally brought his orders out. Although this place is relatively cheap and the food wasn’t that bad, I probably won’t be back again.

Walked in, chose the«Coconut Martini» from the drink menu and a fried Calamari appetizer. The drink consisted of Dry Vermouth & Coconut Mix and to top it off Olives… They forgot about my Calamari and all I got from this was a good laugh. Yeah no thanks.

I tried the curry and it was so so, spicy but not much else going on, very little chicken. The bar has some decent expressions, if the bartender can figure out where they are located or how to serve them. This place is very mediocre, there are much better places in the area.

The food was good and a hearty portion, I got the panang curry and my friend the pumpkin curry. It was also nice that they made the curry fish sauce free/veg-friendly for me :) not soo exciting that the rice is an extra $ 2.50 on top of the curry order, yikes, I can understand a dollar or so, but damn. well I guess they do gota pay bills. I didn’t have any drinks but they do have a full bar!

The food here is great. I love the curries, and they know how to pack a punch as far as flavor and spiciness goes. The quality of the meet seems to be really good too. My knocks are on the service, which I’ve found to be pretty slow and only mildly helpful. They forgot to bring by our drinks until reminded, and left us waiting for a long time before we could have our check brought over. The waiters were sort of having a laugh and not really paying attention for several minutes… and then the credit card machine was broken, so we had to scrounge together loose cash. In addition, the music they play is sort of strange for a restaurant. I’ve heard everything from Tupac being played a bit too loud(sudden gunshots in the song are not pleasant sounds while dining out… or dining anywhere for that matter!), to strange covers of pop songs… I think the ambience would be much better with something a bit more neutral and passive on the speakers. Love the food, meh on the service. Qualifies as a wonderful takeout place for me

A big failure in my opinion… And as hungry as I was traveling all day and not eating practically anything could have been a five star. I found this place walking back to my hotel. Happy hour specials were plastered all over their windows and obviously caught my eye so I popped in for a light dinner. I started off with some calamari from their $ 5 happy hour appetizer menu. The food came out quickly and hot. You get about six or seven large pieces of calamari. One problem. You can take a bite out of the piece because the texture was too tough. I found myself eating the breading at first and then biting into the calamari. For dinner I ordered their fried garlic with beef. The waitress had asked if I wanted rice and assuming that it was included I gave her the nod of approval. Right? Apparently this is the first Asian restaurant I’ve been to where rice isn’t included with your meal. While my meal was decent I could not help but get a bit pissy that I was charged extra for rice. And all this time I thought they were serving up a hefty portion. I shall include that I had a very lazy waitress. On one occasion my glass of water was completely empty and I had to wave to her for more water. On another occasion she looked right at my glass with a few sips left and I had to call her back for a refill. I’ve definitely had better…

Location, location, location. 2080 Van Ness is a revolving door of eateries. It’s a pity though because the folks at Million Thai are really sweet and the happy hour beer specials are tough to beat. Just like when they were in their previous location in SOMA, their happy hour deal is amazing — $ 3 pints, $ 5 mugs, $ 10 jugs + the second drink, regardless of size, is 50% off. Coupled with $ 5 apps, you’ve got a great spot to watch a game or catch up with a friend. They started with a pretty impressive list of taps but have since scaled down the selection which is unfortunate. I’ve had the angel wings( ) and fresh roll( ) here during happy hour. Honestly, I was disappointed. I’ve had the wings before at the previous location and they were way better. These felt like they were refried wings from a previous order. The fresh roll were decent though and a light veggie snack to go with beers. The food can definitely be stepped up. I really want Million Thai to succeed and I hope they do but walking by yesterday, I saw a change of ownership notice which is a pity. Hopefully it’s just a legal formality and that they stick around because the folks here are truly nice and earnest. Fingers crossed.

Made a order. I ordered pumpkin curry, I got yellow curry. I ordered iced coffee, I got thai iced tea. The food I DID get, was good, but not what I wanted. Overpriced side of rice. Egg rolls were overpriced for the small portion you get. Bad first impression, I won’t order delivery from them again. Maybe I’ll and try a dine-in experience though, the food I got WAS pretty good.

Growing up with fabulous authentic Thai food, I tend to have high expectations when it comes to paying for an expensive Thai meal. Still, Million Thai managed to surpass my expectations. They have two menus: an English one and a Thai one. The English one is just like those menus from other Thai restaurants in the US(but if you can request some special level of authenticity if you know what you are talking about). The Thai menu is epic! They have everything you would see on a menu of Thai street vendors in Bangkok, or a hole in a wall in Chiang Mai with more-than-authentic taste. Went there with my American boyfriend who always claims to ace at eating spicy food, I ordered a deep fried hamhock(kha-moo tod), vermicelli papaya salad 5⁄5 spicy, and stir fried Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly. The food was TOTALLY delica! The staffs there were very nice and attentive. When my bf was dying from the spicy vermicelli salad, the staffs were trying so hard to give him candies, chocolate, and other bite size sweet treats.(All on the house, Fab!) I would definitely go back and take there my Asian friends who would definitely kill for spicy food.

went to dinner with the family. The food was good, service was good and the atmosphere was OK. THis is the restaurant location that has failed many times. The restaurant as a standalone is good. We had satay, green mango salad, Pad Thai and yellow curry and all were good. Would go again! Overall a solid Thai Restaurant.

Service needs to improve. Again the communication issue as the food served was not as we ordered it. They opened this spot with only a few things in mind — for the late nite crowd, karaōke, DJ and the liquor license. Do not see this spot being open on a long term basis!

this is for takeout only. I wasn’t planning on stopping by here. I was actually going to the subway across the street but they got swamped and I didn’t want to wait since subway ain’t worth waiting for. I had the pad see ew with pork. I asked for it extra spicy and was asked if I was sure to which I answered in the affirmative. that was some mighty fine eating. after a few mouthfuls I started to get that endorphin rush from the spiciness. the texture of the dish was excellent with the rice noodles and pork both forming a gelatinous mass. my only criticism would be I would have preferred less pork and more Chinese broccoli. while I was waiting for my order I had a nice conversation with the charming manager. we both discussed the terrible track record of restaurants at this location. if my first meal there is any indication, the curse may be over.
