Ms. Tonya

My girlfriend and I met Ms. Tonya while she was promoting her business in our neighborhood. I live a few blocks from the dance studio on the same street and pass by it all the time.
This past Sunday afternoon we decided to hop in the car and head to the beach. My apartment building is right on busy Monterey Blvd so it’s always nerve wracking backing out of my garage into the sidewalk and street while watching for cars, bikes, and pedestrians. As I pulled out I spotted a young lady walking towards my car just as I noticed traffic coming up the street, so I stopped midway through the sidewalk and my driveway. As I waited for a clearing to pull out, I glanced over a few times at her to see if she was going to:
(a) stay there and wait for me to pull out
(b) walk around behind my car while I wait

After living here for years I’ve had countless people do all three and even had groups split up and go around both sides. So after waiting for traffic to pass and watching for what the lady was going to do, I started backing out and looked back and then forward and made eye contact with her. Just as I did that, she threw back the most aggressively nasty glare I’d ever seen. It was so jarring that I was compelled to pull right over in front of my garage and see what the problem was. I thought to myself «Did I almost hit somebody or something?», so I pulled the car over and rolled down my girlfriend’s passenger window and before I could say a word this muscular woman in long dread locks holding a pile of flyers ferociously addressed me…
«CAN I HELP YOU!!!», she shouted.
Stunned, I replied «Excuse me? Is there something wrong?» She responded again even louder and more forcefully…
«CAAAAN IIIIII HEEEEELP YOUUUU!!!» she shrieked.
My frightened girlfriend turned to me and nervously asked «What’s wrong with her? Is she going to hurt us?» as she reached for the pepper spray in her purse.
Then I calmly replied to the woman «No, can I help you? I live here. What are those flyers you’re posting in front of my place? Are you missing a cat or dog or something we can help with?»
«DON’T YOU WORRY ABOUT IT! YOU JUST KEEP GOING! YA’LL GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN F****NG STARE AT ME!!!» she barked back and then stood in front of my building disturbingly glaring at me with rage in her eyes.
I then focused on what she was posting on the pole and saw it was for dance lessons. So with that, I figured the dance studio down the street must have hired a stranger to post flyers for them and didn’t realize what kind of person she was and how she’d reflect on their business, so I just pulled away and we went to the beach as planned.
When we got home, I grabbed one of the flyers so we could call the dance studio and warn them of the poor character of the person they hired to promote their business. But before I did, we searched the web for the name on the flyer, «Ms. Tonya», and then both of our jaws hit the floor as the photo that came up was the very person who just verbally accosted me in front of my own home.
Sunnyside is a pleasant neighborhood with a friendly community of residents and businesses so our startling interaction with this newcomer really shocked us. We can’t comment on the dance skills of Ms. Tonya and recognize that none of this reflects on any of the other trainers at the school. But being a good teacher requires more than technical skills, so we strongly advise anyone looking for a dance instructor for themselves or their child to strongly consider the behavior exhibited by Ms. Tonya.

I see that instead of showing some class and owning up to and apologizing for her horrid behavior to members of the community she just moved her business to, Ms. Tonya has decided to blatantly lie about the stunt she pulled in front of my apartment building with me and my girlfriend. She is outright lying when she claims that I was driving down the street instead of pulling out of my garage at 740 Monterey Blvd (proof:
) which she saw me do and as stated above I even told her this was my building, I live here, just one and a half blocks away from DSG Dance Studio at 564 Monterey Blvd where she teaches. But if you have any doubts about just how aggressive, vulgar, and trashy Ms. Tonya really is, then you can read her public diary posts to see exactly how she spoke to me for simply glancing at her as I pulled out of the driveway of my own home.
