My co-worker and I stopped by this place because we were feeling a little adventurous and seriously, who doesn’t like Mediterranean food?!! We opted for the Beef Gyros off of the lunch menu. With this lunch entrée you get the beef gyro served with Greek salad, cottage potatoes and pita bread .I will say that for $ 8.95 the portions were huge but something about the dish overall was seriously lacking. Although the flavor of the beef was well seasoned and cooked very nicely, I couldn’t make much of a sandwich out of it because the pita bread was too soggy due to the excessive amount of oil and sauce. There was also somehow an excessive amount of oil underneath my salad so it was not as refreshing as I had hoped it would be. The potatoes were a complete hit or miss. Some were cooked nicely, golden brown but the majority was super soggy and greasy. I picked through the portion of potatoes, only eating those that seemed cooked all of the way. They didn’t have much flavor either so I had to use ketchup, eh! There was a party of 3 guys waiting for their food so I felt as though the cook was trying to rush their order and ours. In doing so, the meal was just super oily and messy. For 2 Gyro lunch entrees and 2 can sodas, we paid $ 25. Compared to picking up food at lets say Whole Foods, this price was a steal but I definitely do not feel as though it was worth it. My tummy now feels a bit more upset than satisfied. Well…what can I say!!! At least I tried it.

Finally got around to eating here. My selection for lunch was the lamb/beef gyro platter which included fried potato chips. Service was prompt but lacked a smile, which unfortunately is not uncommon in the SF Bay area. Atmosphere is that of a cozy little hole in the wall establishment, which I find appealing. However, my gyro tasted great and was just the right amount of food to satisfy someone my size. My only complaint is that Myconos doesn’t open until noon. Quite often I prefer eating my lunch closer to 11:30 which has precluded them from my list of choices around that time of day.

The food is delicious! We had the falafel dinner and the netball dinner. AAAAMMMAAZING! Hole in the wall, authentic Greek food! Go here!

This is a great little spot on Polk. The interior isn’t as fancy as some of the other restaurants nearby, but the food is great. I usually split the 2 person combo meal with 3 people and walk away with leftovers still. The appetizers are pricy, but entrees and the meals are all very reasonable. Haven’t had a thing there that I didn’t like, although the desserts are a little disappointing. One of my favorite spots

I had the lamb gyro, and I found it to be quite good, especially for under $ 8. Really happy this place is in my neighborhood! Let’s get it!

I walked in and saw a typical order station that was also the cooking station. I asked for the gyro sandwich and sat down. I was told a few minutes later that the food I ordered was not allowed to be eaten at the table where I was sitting. Since I was denied a seat and had to stand and stare at my food being made i was becoming unconfortable to say the least. The meat looked dry and old so I decided that my experience was already ruined prior to even tasting the food so I literally just walked out. So my rating is based off of service not the food. But to be honest if the food was good then the aroma in the air would have made me stay but this place lacked that too

I had such a bad experience by visiting this restaurant, after straggling for getting parking spot, we walked to the restaurant, 9;55 so we are closed !!! What ??? The website said 11, kitchen close at 10 ??? Now it’s 9;55 !!! Very very bad behavior, never ever try them again !!!

Nice and cheap go-to spot for Greek food. Huge portions. Kinda dirty inside but whatever. Tasty falafel. Service is a bit slow(emphasis seems to be on delivery, not eat-in) but it’s never super crowded.

The takeout portion of this place is dreadful. First time I tried Myconos(why is it spelt with a c?) I tried the gyro and the spanakopita which were both awful. The gyro was dry and the tzatziki was bland. The spanakopita was soggy. Being half Greek and living two blocks away I tried to give them a second chance one Saturday evening. This time the service was bad. I walked in and was treated like a second class citizen the moment I revealed I wasn’t going to be a seated diner. After twenty minutes of waiting I decided to leave. Spend a few bucks on a cab and go to Estia. Don’t let Myconos ruin your image of Greek food or hospitality.

This little San Francisco gem is tucked away in the Polk area. So many people walk by it, never know exactly how good it is. All of your favorite Greek recipes and specialties hot off the grill, right from the ovens. It can often get busy and they run with limited staff so it’s not the kind of place that you’re going to go in and get food superfast but it’s a great place to go and enjoy. Take your time and laugh with the people next to you. The staff is friendly and food outstanding.

In a city where(surprisingly) it’s hard to find a decent gyro, theirs is very good. Just like a burrito or sandwich, a gyro is not supposed to be $ 10. For $ 6 you can’t beat the quality, flavor and value. Also, salad is good, as well as Greek ambiance in the restaurant.

The two stars are for the food and service. I had the vegetarian platter, which was generous in the amount however the quality was not good. The falafel came with the hummus on top of it and I was unable to eat it with the pita which was under it all. The service was extremely slow, it was 6 o’clock and the restaurant was practically empty. The food took a long time to arrive and I sat there for over 30 minutes attempting to get the staffs attention to get my check. I would maybe recommend it of you want takeout and something cheap to eat.

Called in a pick up order. Was quoted 15 mins but got the food after 30 mins. Dinner for $ 40 Gyro: got extra tomatoes and they definitely honored that. Pretty decent. Pastistio: pretty decent but not enough meat. Mousaka: mediocre. Overall, I’d come back for a quick gyro lunch since I’m in the neighborhood… But I wouldn’t order the mousaka or pastistio again. I was craving it but it didn’t hit the spot.

Ambiance is nice, clean and definitely run by Greek owners. I ordered the falafel plate which came with a salad with fresh tomatoes, onions and feta. The plate was served with fresh potato chips as well. The pita that the falafel was served on was warm and fresh. The falafel was fresh and crisp but lacking some spices. The one downside is that it was absolutely smothered with hummus. I love hummus, but was able to take off about 2 tablespoons and still have enough. All in all, excellent food for price, bring your appetite for huge portions of Greek food!

This place has legit delicious take out Greek food. I’ve never actually eaten in the restaurant, largely because they have a special«takeout only» menu that is both a great value and everything I’ve tried off of it(many times) is amazing. You will not regret ordering the special sandwich(gyro plus feta cheese and grilled onions), nor the spanakopita(spinach pie). They seem to have added a couple of new options to the takeout menu over the past couple of years too(e.g. a pork sandwich of sorts called George’s special). All in all a great Lower Polk St food option.

The first thing I want to say is when I go to a Greek restaurant, I expect it to be owned and operated by Greeks. I can say Mykonos on Polk qualifies or I wouldnt have eaten there three times. Last night after a day of Fleet Week activities my wife wanted a salad. She chose the ‘small’ Greek salad which was larger than most places would call regular. Lots of sliced tomatoes and olives. I thought I’d try their Pastitsio. Excellent! The bechamel on top was rich… great. Then we took a chance on the Risogalo(rice pudding for desert. Although a touch on the gummy side, the flavor was a winner. Mykonos on Polk, let“s do it again.

So I’ll be honest, I actually haven’t been here in almost two years, however, I used to live in the neighborhood and Myconos was by far my favorite spot for cheap, fast, and delicious food! So much so that I, and my roommates had their phone number saved as a contact in our phones(no shame). Why am I writing a review two years later? Because I want people to know about this amazing little restaurant, and because I didn’t start Unilocaling until last year. With that said, never in my 21 years of life have I ever discovered such delicious and inexpensive food that is not fast food! For college kids on a budget, or anyone trying to survive financially in the city, this place is a MUSTTRY! The food 5⁄5 I only remember ordering the gyros, which by the way was just $ 4.75(two years ago). Hands down the best gyros I’ve ever had! And I’ve had a lot. The pita was soft, warm, and yummy, and the meat and fillings were even more delicious! The portion was generous and definitely the best $ 5 I’ve ever spent! The only downside to this place was that the gyros were made for togo order only, so no eating gyros in the restaurant. But again, it’s been a while since I’ve been there, so things may have changed. As for the service, it was quick and pretty basic, like i said, I always ordered togo, so not much to say there.

Still love this place after many years of eating there. Hearty food and great cooking for the price. The Arni Stifado(lamb in a sauce with potatoes and salad) is my favorite. Next would be the Moussaka – or the Salmon when they have it. The Grape Leaves or the Feta and Olives are a wonderful start, and a Baklava for a finish – if you can still eat dessert after the generous portions! Red checkered table clothes and a perfect casual atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night.

Jasmine kiss. Whole new world: Whole new flavor: Jasmine rice pudding with orange and lemon accents plus«kissed with a hint of vanilla.» Menu was accurate. Cinnamon topping was brilliant. Reasonable $ 7 gets a portion big enough for two servings. Loved the whole thing.

Dine-In Review: I’ve had every item on the menu here, so here’s my recommendation. Keftedes Entrée — Absolute favorite dish here. Extremely tender mixed meat patties that go perfectly with tzatziki(which comes with it). This dish is also one I have not found at other Greek places. Moussaka Entrée — When I’m in the mood for a heavier dinner, this is my entrée of choice. Great meat, good amount of bechemel, and tender eggplant. Super filling though, if you’re a light eater, split it with a friend. Veggetarian Combo Entrée — Huge amount of food. It’s essentially every single veggie item on one plate. And for $ 10…insane amount of quality food. Love their dolmades. Overall: Huge portions, always with a carb(potatoes) and salad included, for an extremely reasonable price. Quality of the food is great as well. This has been my go-to dinner spot when I just need a really solid, home-cooked meal that won’t break the bank. Service is always friendly. Can be a little slow if there’s a crowd(only a couple servers and one or two cooks), but always worth the wait. My one wish is that they would import a few more Greek beers!

This is the first time I’ve actually felt the need to write a review. I’m giving them two stars for the cheap lunch specials, if not for the $ 5 out the door I’d give them none. The crummy thing is that even at $ 5 you’re just not getting what you pay for. The gyro is unremarkable at best and the falafel is the worst and most flavorless I’ve ever had. The staff is rude and disinterested, as well. Don’t bother unless all you want is to be pretty full and all you have is a five dollar bill.

I really like this Greek restaurant. The food is well made. The customer service is very good, and it has a nice ambiance. The restaurant has been around for many years. Recently a friend of mine decided to split the Super Special for Two. This dish contains pretty much everything the restaurant sells. It was a very good dish, and it was so big that it could have served three people. It started with a Greek salad. The salad was good. It had a tasty dressing and was served with fresh lettuce and feta cheese. It was followed with the main dish. It came with yogurt, hummus and pita bread. The pita bread was average. The dish also came with gyros(slices of meat), Souvlaki(Greek meat skewers), Moussaka(looks like Greek style lasagna with ground beef), Spanakopita(looks like a large Greek style Egg roll), dolmades(rice wrapped in grape leaves), falafel patties, and huge roasted potatoes. All items tasted good. I especially like Moussaka. It was very creamy, slightly sweet, and filling. I also liked the potatoes, It had a lot of flavor. After that, I had the baklava and coffee. The baklava was OK. It probably had two much sauce on it. The coffee was OK. The coffee service came with cream and sugar. Overall I had a positive dinning experience there.

Time: 1:33pm/60°F sunny Purpose: Had a schedule meeting at a new business up the street. I cut it short and left earlier as, talks came to a bump in the road. Walking to car can’t resist that rotating spit style open roaster with meat going round and round mesmerizing me. Ok you win, I loose! Ambiance: Located in the heart of Polk Gulch area of outer Nob Hill. This place is nondescript except for the folding ad board out front. Walking by it, you’ll never notice its an eatery. Small shops of same size cluster in one complex structure. Hard to spot driving unless you know exact location. The counter is to your immediate left upon entry. All cooking, cashier, prep work is done there. Main dining room to your right houses 5 – 6 tables with much brighter sun rays. Inner back about 8 – 9 tables with red/white checkerboard tablecloth. Walls painted with traditional Greek color of blue/white and country side village art drawing to match. Makes you feel like you’re somewhere in Greece. Corner shack area built for beverage purposes were beer/wine, coffee and drinks are made. A little to dim at night, but during the day you’ll do just fine. I don’t encourage you to talk about your most intimate secrets here as, eavesdropping can be done with no effort. Staff: Hispanic guy working the counter front area as chef. I said«hi» he didn’t want to say much just nodded. Then there was an older guy slick back hair seated on table could be owner. Each time I ask a question to the chef, he would stand up looking over at us. Not sure why? All I wanted to know was how the spit roaster cooks the meat. The chef could’ve easily told me while making my order at the same time. Funny and weird were, you ask one person another gets up. I doubt it’s true for the opposite if it, was the other way around. The chef was nervous even when he was handing over my gyro. Cleanliness: Grade C, couple of mentions that I’ve notice. Chairs bear grease stains while tabletops had crumbs. I didn’t dine-in just sat down waiting for my order. Forearm rested on tabletop. Lifted arm up felt little debris stuck on underside. Try blowing it away then, napkin to remove what’s not seen. Eats/Drinks: Special sandwich $ 5 daily price. Now this is not my first time here as, I lost count. Sometimes even forgetting to check in. Special sandwich is delicious period. Special sandwich comes with hot pita bread good in size and thickness. None of that store bought stack flat in plastic sleeve pitas. Plenty slices of well seasoned beef & lamb is the norm here still, haven’t change over the years. You’ll get a good balance of cucumber, tomato, feta, beef & lamb drizzle with plenty of tzatziki sauce wrapped in warm pita. To truly enjoy it, you must eat within minutes of being handed over to you. Be careful oil from meat may make its way to your wrist if, not unwrapping with guidance. Main Features: Traditional Greek coffee, keftedes, spanakopita, moussaka, beef & lamb. Products/Services: Apps, hummus, pita, tzatziki, spanakopita, Greek salad, dolmas, keftedes, loukaniko, pikilia, souvlaki, gyros, moussaka, pastitsio, falafel. Combos, specails for two, RSVP available, lunch/dinner menu. Beer/wine, coffee, cold beverages. Kitchen closes 1hr earlier than listed closed time. Lunch time is strictly take-out only as dine in not allow. Punch Lines: No seating during lunch take-out only, in/out within 5 min of ordering, solo chef runs the kitchen/counter, quiet, dim lighting, lackluster ambiance, close-together tables, inexpensive, pleasing flavors, drool-worthy, easy night out, dinner prix fixe, special bargain, budget watchers, imaginable toppings, devotees, well-prepared, best cheap eats around, truly addictive, can’t go wrong, casual and delicious. Street parking, steps off van ness ave, muni bus, salons, pet shop, hardware store, barber shop, dessert places, bike shop, seafood store, liquor shop. Tradeoffs: Lunch time and daily specials are worth every penny. Only downside is they open at high noon sharp. So phone calls to place order won’t be answer till noon and after. Best to get there in person before noon and place the order. Final Thoughts: Myconos has been a long time favorite on Polk street for years. Known for its inexpensive Greek/Mediterranean eats with a nonchalant attitude. While others have come and go, this place kept its standards. Keeping up with rising cost of living. It does it so good, that you won’t notice anything has change. As for the prices, unchanged never pass on to customers. This is the freshest cheap eats you can get on Polk street itself. Try to order that of the same near downtown or the Fi-Di.

The takeout $ 5 specials are probably some of the best hidden deals on Polk but more importantly, make for some pretty tasty snacks in between bars. The special sandwich is essentially a mixed grill gyro of lamb and beef served inside a pita with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and feta. It’s incredibly satisfying with the wonderfully seasoned ground meat balanced with all the brightness from the veggies. Also had the falafel sandwich and spanakopita which are decent veggie offerings but paled in comparison to their meaty counterpart. It’s small and cozy on the inside but ordering takeout at the front counter is super convenient and fast. Soon you’ll on on your way with some cheap and tasty grub, all ready to tackle whatever the next bar throws at you.
