Had two different wine flights, the black truffle popcorn and banana bread desert. Really enjoyed the spot and flights. Great staff.

I absolutely love Nectar. My boyfriend and I discovered it about a month ago and I’ve already been back with both him and girlfriends. Leia or Leah? The owner is so personable and friendly. Most wine bars are a bit snobby, but not this one! Nectar is great for everyone, both young and old. Their wine is great and their pours even better. We love getting their flights for only 19 dollars — you get so much wine, and I love the variety. Ambiance is gorgeous and their big cozy seats are our favorite. We will be back soon to try out the food.

My friends and I came here tonight for happy hour and I can’t speak highly enough of our experience! The service was SO friendly and attentive, the wine selection was delicious including both the red wine and the bubbly flights, and the appetizers we had(the olives and the truffle popcorn) were outstanding. I loved the atmosphere too! I’m definitely keeping this in mind for my next date :)

This is only my second Unilocal review and I only Unilocal if it is really good or really bad. This is my first Unilocal for something really good. This is actually the best place I have found in the Marina. Great place to sit and they serve great wine. Not only that, they are SO friendly. It feels like a community. If I could chose one phrase to describe this place it would be — attention to detail. They pay attention to make sure every guest has the best experience. Highly recommended.

Had an awful experience here because of the terrible service I had from this Asian waitress who wore too much eyeliner. She didn’t accept my Chinese ID and insisted that I had to show her my passport, which was ridiculous because I never had any trouble with it in any bars. Not only that she was also extremely rude and patronising and threatened to kick me out. So, if you’re «foreign», I’d advise you to go to different wine bar like Amelie’s or press club where service is so much better. It is not worth the unnecessary drama

Perfect place for a Friday night date night! We came here for a glass of wine while we were waiting for our reservation at a different restaurant. The wine was great and the food smelled delicious, so we ended up cancelling our reservation to stay at Nectar. I love the dim lighting and energetic music(though not too loud!). The wine selection was excellent and, for those truffle lovers out there, there are plenty of truffle dishes to choose from. Yum! My only complaint is they aren’t open in the earlier! It would be a fun place to go early in the afternoon on the weekend.

There’s a reason this place has been in business for such a long time… it’s a nice atmosphere, great wine list, perfect for first dates. I should know. Gee, that probably sounds like I’m annoyed and I don’t mean it like that… it really is a great date spot! You can easily hear the other person, they do offer food if the date is going well, open late… never that crowded.

I loved this place! Very creative descriptions on their wine list. Very friendly staff. Best part for me is that it doesn’t get ridiculously loud and/or packed.

Friday night well spent! Very pleased with the ambiance. Romantic lighting but still a place to bring a group of friends. I love the background music! Very different from any usual bar. They’d play a Hiphop song like Jay-Z’s Big Pimpin’, but the sound of their audio made it so you don’t necessarily here the rapping but just the beat. I like how you can choose if you want a 3oz or 6oz glass of wine. Since I’m not a big drinker, I’ll get the 3oz next time(also cheaper). Took me forever to finish the 6oz. I ordered the truffled Mac n cheese and will not be ordering it again! Tasted more oily than cheesy. Next time I’ll be sure to try the truffle popcorn everyone raves about and their meat and cheese platter.

Wow, what a gem of a place in the Marina. The wine selection is amazing and the truffle popcorn is delish, but the best part is chatting with the friendly bar manager, Jack, and watching the movies on the projector.

This is my favorite wine bar in San Francisco and continues to be a go to place whenever I get together with my friends! It is my husband and I’s favorite gem to visit in the Marina. I stumbled upon this wonderful place several years ago when I visited the Marina and have been going back regularly since. It has a elegant, warm atmosphere and the owners are fantastic and make you feel like home. Though the place can get busy at night, it’s always classy and doesn’t have the overly crowded, drunken people atmosphere that many bars in the Marina usually have. It is a great place to go and relax with friends or on a date. Service is consistently fantastic. Love the candlelit atmosphere. Wine list is superb to try some new wines you’ve never had before — Monday ½ off wine flights is another great excuse to go! Food is also great as well — you can’t go wrong ordering anything of off the menu and it changes with the seasons. A couple of our favorite small plates that we order all the time are: truffled popcorn, bacon wrapped dates, ahi tar tare, and burrata and prosciutto. Each time we order food, it tastes consistently delicious and exactly as we expect! Signs of a well run kitchen! Bottom line — consistency across all facets is key when I give a 5 star review to a bar/restaurant. Despite having gone there over 50 times, Nectar has been consistent with great service, great food, great atmosphere, and great wine list. Highly recommend coming here!

I love this place for a casual night out. If you like medium-to-full bodied/big flavor reds, try the Twenty Rows cab or the Turley«juvenile» zin. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, the ahi tartare here is superb. So is the truffle mac n cheese.

My husband and I love coming to Nectar! It’s always just busy enough to be fun, but not so overwhelming that you can never get a table. The owners are awesome, Chris and Leah really get to know their regulars, a rare quality in this city and one that has endeared them and their place to us. The wine list is great — always something new to try. Their food menu is awesome too, seriously, one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches in the city! Nectar is a gem in the Marina, you should definitely try it!

Sunday evening I was the first customer to walk in. I didn’t mind being the only one as I had some work stuff to do while having dinner and tasting wines. I had the bubble flight, couple reds, port, ahi tartar, bacon dates, cured meats and banana bread. Food was delicious, wines were excellent, service was impeccable, pairing suggestions were spot on. I even received some small samplers of wines I said I liked or thought about buying. Only a few couples walked in during the couple hours I sat there while several groups leaved the door after browsing the menu at the door. While I appreciated the ability to work, I was pretty surprised there weren’t more people. With this kind of concept and execution they really ought to have more customers. If the other tourists are not able to walk few blocks or step aside from the Chestnut st. I really hope you locals find this spot. I would come here for date night, to indulge myself with wines and good food or just to enjoy moments of freedom when travelling for business.

Fantastic. Got a couple flights, per usual the first part of the wine was less than great, but the flight got better as it progressed. The badass flight, and the pinot flight were quite good. Dat food doe… Burrata — Meaty, manly, texture from radishes, salty from prosciutto, creamy, rich, dense, and a nice ample portion. Ahi Tartar — One of the best I’ve had? Again, deceivingly ample portion. Great texture, very high quality ahi, perfect balance of acid, sweetness, it was SO good. Squash flatbread — could have skipped it. The two appetizers were plenty for my date and I. It was decent though. Needed some acid to break up the richness. A balsamic drizzle or some onions would have been perfect. The wine guy is a bit bro-y, but when it came down to it he knew his stuff, made some great recommendations, and he was concise and very friendly. Great experience. 2 flights, 2 glasses of wine, 1 flat bread, ahi tartar, burrata = $ 125. A bit pricy, but I’d say its worth it!

Came here for happy hour, and right when it opened at 5 so we got to avoid all the lines and wait. This place is perfect for happy hour! The flights, though they’re not on the HH menu, are worth it and you get a good taste of the different wine selections — according to the preference of wine/champagne. We got the Salumi plate(I love my cured meats), the truffle mac and cheese(which was on the HH menu), three cheese selection(Manchego was super yummy!), and some other HH menu items… that I can’t quite remember(sorry!) — all were really really good and paired with the wines perfectly! It didn’t get tooooo busy while we were there, so maybe we came on an off night — but service was great. Attentive, knowledgable, and nice! Can’t ask for much more than that! Good prices, good food, and good alcohol. Definitely a place to check out if you’re in the marina!

A+ for ambiance. Really comfortable and varied seating, from cushioned low & long coffee tables(good for groups), to attractive booth seating, to normal high chairs for a casual conversation, and outdoor seating can get some nice sun. A little pricey, but worth the experience. If you’re a wine-o, this is perfect for you. The truffled popcorn is also excellent.

This is the only place I visited twice in one trip last time I went to SF, and I wish I could go back right now. Adam and I were a bit early for our dinner reservation at Isa’s next door, so we moseyed around a bit, just taking in the environment and beautiful weather. From the moment I saw the words«wine lounge» on Nectar’s door and peered through the windows into its cozy, romantic atmosphere, I knew we had to stop in for a glass of wine. What better way to spend 30 minutes before dinner? We took a seat at the bar and were immediately greeted, but not bombarded, which is always appreciated. It’s gorgeous inside; dim lighting, dark furniture, beautiful shelves full of beautiful wine, candlelight… The bartenders are knowledgeable and personable, and most importantly, they seem to genuinely enjoy their job. It’s such a relaxing and artful atmosphere that lures you in and makes you want to stay all night. We left for dinner and then came back right afterwards! Even if Nectar had sub-par food and a boring wine menu, I’d still love this place. That’s how much I enjoyed the ambiance and the service. But, of course, their menus are just incredible! This is my kind of food, y’all. I didn’t eat a meal here, unfortunately, but I drooled over their menu for far too long. French, Spanish, local, and Irish cheese, butternut squash pizzetta, burrata with prosciutto, garden flatbread, baked polenta… it’s a seasonal menu full of fresh and local ingredients, and each dish has a recommended wine listed beside it. For starters, they have roasted olives, bacon wrapped dates, and black truffle popcorn. Oh my gods… the popcorn. I had to have it, even though I was about to head to dinner. Best popcorn I’ve ever eaten, you guys. Perfectly popped, beautifully light, and perfectly, delicately enhanced with truffle. $ 7 for a large enough portion to share? Amazing! I apologize for getting this far into a wine lounge review without mentioning the wine, which was fantastic. I went with a prosecco, of course. They have fabulous wine flights and descriptions with a sense of humor. «Crisp & Unpretentious Whites» as well as «Rich and Extroverted Whites.» For the reds, «Playful yet Thoughtful,» «Sensualist,» and«Hedonist.» I love it! I really do love everything about Nectar. They were even playing Valkyrie on the wall with a projectior, and you know I’m a Tom Cruise fan!

Come here for the happy hours from 3−7PM M-F! I’ve been here a handful of times now and it never disappoints. *They currently have a $ 10 for $ 20 Unilocal deal so make sure to take advantage of that during non-happy hour times. Food: My favorites are the flatbreads. +They change them out seasonally, but right now the Garden Flatbread pizza is rocking my world with the peppers and corn. +Prosciutto Flatbread– was not a fan of this one. The prosciutto was hard, chewy and way too salty. The flatbread also had a strong olive tapenade that was thrown on there in chunks. I’d rather have that smeared on the bread as a base. +I’d get a couple of flights of wine to share because they have a great selection. Feel free to tell the manager what you’re looking for so he can bring out some samples before you choose. +They used to carry this non-alcoholic orange type drink that my husband loves, but they’re working on bringing it back! Service A+ for service. Robin, the manager, is such a pleasure to talk to whenever my husband and I go in and ask for recommendations. He’s very friendly and makes his customers feel very welcome! One time, I came in after my half marathon with a injured ankle and he brought me cloth napkins filled with ice to help. Very thoughtful of him. Katy served us last time and messed up our order and bill once or twice but she was apologetic and sweet, so we didn’t mind. Ambience: Love the feel of this lounge. Plenty of sofas and lounge space in the front of the restaurant, a long bar and then proper tables for dining in the back. The mood, lighting, ambience and feel is great all around. We’ve brought several friends here from out of town after dinner and it’s always a good time! –Hungry Hungry Pongy
