They cause me pain. So FYI — I think these guys have since been scooped up or changed names or something(maybe to TLC?) Took my laptop in for a flickering/blank display. They told me 2 weeks, took a little over 3. OK — At least I got my laptop fixed before my month-long trip out of the states. Shoulda looked closer… After arriving in Rome — where I would be working(and vacationing) — I realized that the fancy glossy rich-color display that came with my Toshiba had been downgraded to your average everyday matte screen. OK — At least it doesn’t flicker and go blank… that is until 3 months later when its repeating some of its early symptoms(flickering). But thats not the worst part. I was in Rome — for a month — and needed to constantly use skype conferencing for work… oops — somebody over there at New Dimension broke the ding danged sound card — no mic, no sound — tried trouble shooting everything — even email New Dimension — where they tried there best o help via email. They got me to open up the laptop and find that the power was not connected to the soundcard… I thought ‘Hallelujah’ but it wasn’t to be — even plugged in it was busted. I managed to use skype on the iphone for work — but it was a pain in the arsenic. They told me via email that they were extremely sorry — ok. They told me they’d fix it free of charge whence I returned — OK(even tho the warranty expired a few days after I picked it up from them(which is another story about jacking up rates on me for an extended warranty — which I declined). Low and behold I come home and email them… to silence… A few emails later and have heard nothing. If I wasn’t busy and didn’t have another machine I woulda been knockin down the door by now — but I tend to avoid things that cause me pain. This was a painful experience from start to finish. I think they have the right intentions and made honest mistakes — but I got no time for bad service in my life. Fortunately we have Unilocal to vent frustration to!

Here’ s the short story: 1. $ 416.84 2. 31 days 3. They did fix the laptop. To their credit, they didn’t try to hide their mistakes. They took responsibility for getting the job done, and they covered part of the difference between their estimate and the actual cost.

Lowdown: Great down to earth service. Factual information. Correct information. Background: I had a problem with our 4 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop. Without boring you, the problem prevented use of the factory supplied Recovery CD, and I was concerned that some hack shop jockey was going to say«you need a new hard disk» or «you need a new motherboard» both of which I knew to be rubbish. Toshiba telephone help desk was similarly useless. Dorsey at New Dimension Service Solutions understood my description, knew what the problem was(it agreed with my research on the message boards), and had a solution in minutes. He re-programmed the DMI(5 stars to you if you know what that is) and **he did not even charge me**.
