Been here a couple times to get something quick to eat and I would say that they are pretty consistent. Service is good… the ladies are always really nice! Now onto the food… 1. Grilled bbq pork banh mi — The best I ever had!!! The meat is so moist and full of flavor. They don’t skimp on the meat either ^___^ 2. Thai tea — Just the right amount of tea and milk ratio. Not too sweet but not too bitter either! Definitely will be back :)

Gave this place another chance. Cold day and in need of some soup and noodles to warm the soul. I got the phở ga w/egg noodles — it was actually pretty good! Broth was nicely flavored and chicken was moist My friend go the 5 spice chicken phở. The chicken was separate from the noodle soup which made sense as the chicken is 5 spice marinated Would come back on a cold day and order the special phở.

Order: banh mi that nuong Whenever getting sandwiches, I ALWAYS order thit nuong(grilled pork) and I think this place has one of the best thit nuong sandwiches by FAR! Normally, the grilled pork in the sandwiches I get are a bit dry or have no sauce on it, but this place is different! The pork must be marinated in a juicy ass sauce or something cause they’re always soooo moist and yummy! It leaves my fingers a little sticky, but that means it’s a good thing! Also, customer service is always on point! They’re super friendly and try to make small talk. I would definitely recommend this place, it’s worth the try!!! I need to come back to try the other items :)

Have been to this place a couple of times now, and have had great meals both times. It’s not elegant and it’s menu is not ONLY Vietnamese… there are definitely some Chinese dishes on there as well. But that’s OK, as one can just order what it is that they want… we’ve only ordered the Vietnamese dishes. We were just in Vietnam for 3 weeks this past summer, and aspects of this place gave us the same warm and fuzzy feelings that we longed for after our trip… like the presence of extended family members hanging around… even had small children come through on their toy bikes one time. Yes, some may find that«off-putting», we loved it. And if you’re one of those people that DOES find that sort of thing«off-putting»…definitely DON’T go to Vietnam!!;-)

I had the phở ga, or chicken phở. The hot broth was nice. But I was clear he noodles & the chicken had been sitting at the bottom of this bow for a while. They just poured the broth on top. There is aways a bit of preparation so that the food can come out a little faster. But this was a little much. The noodles were in a thick clump & the chicken was a bit hard & dry… even in the broth.

the Poh is Just great. It is the real Vietnam poh. It would be better if it served with green hot pepper. Broccoli Beef with Rice is also delicious.

Got the combination phở. It was less than average. The broth was nearly just water. The staff were friendly and attentive, so that was a plus. Also, I appreciated the complimentary tea. Overall okay experience for a random stop in the city.

First off, this review is biased since I’m from Vancouver(Canada), which is known for top notch Asian cuisine. Secondly, I think this place is falsely advertised as Vietnamese cuisine as it’s more fusion Vietnamese-Chinese. If you listen carefully, the servers actually speak Vietnamese and Cantonese interchangeably amongst themselves! This is kind of culturally interesting but it’s deceiving and kind of disappointing if you’re expecting Vietnamese food, as advertised. My lemongrass chicken was served stir fried in black bean paste; barely speckled with lemongrass. I’ve ordered lemongrass chicken from several Vietnamese restaurants and I always look forward to the usual bbq’ed or grilled chicken with a bed of rice balanced by a side of fresh veggies(usually lettuce, tomato and cucumber). This dish was literally black bean stir fry served with a hunk of white rice. Anyway, the food didn’t taste bad. The servers were sweet and our food was prepped ultra fast. If you’re looking for a quick ‘Asian’ meal blended between Vietnamese and Cantonese cuisine, then eat here. Otherwise, you’re better off going someplace a little more ‘authentic’, or at least accurately advertised.

Their vietnamese coffee is on point! I would argue that it is one of the best coffee I’ve ever had! It’s a must try. Their sandwiches are delicious. I love that they toast it right away! It’s so crispy and fresh. The staff is kind and they refill your drinks immediately. They are incredibly attentive. It’s a cute little mom and pop shop. I love supporting small business like these.

Small little shop. Prices are cheap but the quality isn’t that great. I got their beef phở and there were only 3 – 4 pieces of meat. The broth had no favor. I was super disappointed. Maybe thats why the price was cheap. Also, they don’t have 3 color drink. What kind of phở place is this???

This place is so weirdly underrated. Living in the Inner Sunset with a plethora of delicious Vietnamese options, it’s hard to believe that Sandy’s is actually my favorite, yes, over Yummy Yummy. It’s a tiny hole in the wall on 9th Avenue between Judah and Irvine and definitely doesn’t boast the nicest décor, but their phở broth is phenomenal. The only other places in the city that I enjoy more might be Miss Saigon, or Mau/Tin. I love their phở ga, bun bo hue, imperial rolls, and claypot rice. Seriously, give this place a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Blah, if you need a place to eat, I guess this will do. I ordered phở noodles and they tasted a bit sour. Not sure if they marinated it with vinegar or something but it did not taste that great. I have been to many phở places so I know how it’s supposed to taste. Service was okay and this place almost got 3 stars, I mean do you have to burn incense while I eat? I have no issues with your religion but I don’t want to smell like I practice it. I did not eat any of the broth in my soup, on the bright side, I am no longer hungry. I should have went up the hill and cross the street to go to that bakery by the liquor store.

Bleh. It’s the closest Vietnamese place near my apartment and I so so wanted to rate this higher. but I just can’t. It did the job with my weirdly insane vermicelli craving, but I was not sold on it. They over packed it with veggies and the meat was literally like americanized/saucy BBQ… what. They also took FOREVER to bring out our food when we were the ONLY ones in the place. Come on… it doesn’t take that long to put together vermicelli… when there are no other orders. To be honest, I would come here again only because Yummy Yummy is too far to walk when I’m feeling lazy, but maybe I’ll just go for something much more simple — like banh mi.

Great bun mi! If you do not like spicy or cilantro, make sure you let them know beforehand! I only knew this place because my school always gets bun mi from them for lunch. By the time we eat them, they are always cold and the bread can be very hard and can cut your palate if you are not careful… So I finally came here to order the bun mi and was ready to have them hot and freshly made! I ordered the BBQ pork and chicken for $ 4.25 each. I went around 11am on a Saturday and was the only person in the restaurant, but it still took them more than 15 min to make the two sandwiches, which is a bit long… However, the sandwich tasted great! They toast the bread pretty dry, so I got bread crumbs allover when I ate. The restaurant was pretty clean too!

Yummy Yummy and Perilla are both closed the day before Thanksgiving, so I needed to get my imperial roll fix here. I began to order in Vietnamese(yes, I actually know how to speak it – I am not one of those people who goes into a phở house or taqueria and butchers the language), but the waitress didn’t understand me. Weird, considering I later heard her speaking Vietnamese in the kitchen. My request for extra lettuce(in English) was not fulfilled, so had to ask for that again. Also, I witnessed a guy come in and approach the counter asking if he could order. The girl said yes and he asked if he could sit. She said no. He asked if they were closed, looking around at other seated people, and she said yes. Then she said no. He asked if they were open. She said yes. Was this all a really bad joke? Yes. No.

Torn between 3 and 4 stars here, and if I could, I’d give it 3.5. Service was very hit or miss. Very friendly, and great with refilling water for a while, but a few low points. Was ignored/missed for quite a while near the end of our meal while trying to get the check, with staff coming out to the front briefly for other customers, and heading right to the back, with no one left up front, so that was problematic. Additionally, ordered 2 items, and only became obvious to us much later that one was not coming. Apparently the waitress had not heard that, which is a little odd, as it was the first thing we ordered, which I would think would make it harder to miss. Food was good, and pretty good for the price. Huge bowl of Phở and a clay pot with rice and various seafood/meats/veggies, each about $ 10 with tax. The latter was a little lacking in the substance beyond the rice, but was quite tasty. We got BBQ beef Phở and it came with the beef on the side, which is odd, already cooked. Had not seen it like that. The beef was great by itself without putting in the phở, and very flavorful with a little bit of BBQ sauce. tough to cut, but tasty and fairly tender overall. Was great putting it in the phở too, except the sauce and flavor did dissipate a bit. Nice variety of menu items too, so would be worth trying some other things, and I kind of wish I had in hindsight. Next time perhaps, though I’m not sure this will warrant a next time for me.

Hole in the wall with great food to make up for it! Not too busy, small restaurant. Their«PEARLDRINKS» consists of Honeydew, Strawberry, Mango, and Taro with small white tapioca balls which are pre-made and stocked in the fridge. They don’t have the real black boba balls here. Thai Iced Tea was delicious and not watered down. #21 Crispy Egg Noodles was sooo good, better than Tung-Kee’s version! It was so good, I’m still craving more!
