These guys may well have saved my life. I had surgery here in 2002, and seven and a half years later I’ve gained back about 30 of the 200 pounds that I lost. Excellent work by both of the Drs. Rabkin. On the other hand, I had some severe side effects [no one’s fault; the surgery went well; sometimes these things happen] and one particular physician’s assistant who handled much of my follow up care simply refused to accept the fact that there were life-​threatening problems. For a couple of years she ignored or downplayed all my serious malnutrition issues, while I gradually became an invalid. Once I insisted on seeing other staff members, everything improved. I was well cared for and eventually had a second surgery which largely corrected the problems. I’m pretty sure that the PA who was the problem is long gone now, and the staff with whom I’ve dealt the past few years are uniformly excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone with severe obesity that they consider bariatric surgery generally and Pacific Laparoscopy in particular.
