«It looks better than it tastes.» Got the Taro Milk with Boba. Came in an aesthetic milk bottle, which makes it Instagram worthy. Tasted a lil powdery, so I mixed the bottom with my straw. Texture of the Boba was a little too undercooked for my tastes. I’m used to honey Boba, which is softer to chew.

I came here with 4 friends and we all swapped/​tasted drinks (I know-​beware of mono) but they still all tasted so blannndd. crie.
we tried matcha latte (cold), sweet taro milk, coffee milk tea (cold), and a strawberry fresh fruit tea (best out of allllladem). matcha latte tasted like straight up milk with green dye. sweet taro milk wasn’t toooo shabby, it had [REAL] taro bits that my friends did not like (I enjoyed the bits bc my love for taro has never relinquished), but other than that, sweet taro tasted like sweet milk. coffee was p good I guess, more mediocre tho. iono nothing special, just think of milk coffee. strawberry fresh fruit was aight but it was the best drink voted by all my friends there. the drink was kinda watery, it’s very lite on sweetness but maybe bc I have a big sweet tooth. they put in fresh strawberry bits which was a nice touch. overall nothing to get crazy about. the bottles are glass and reusable I believe. you can grab a plastic cap on your way out to save the rest of your drink.
the store is super hip and cute tho. I guess you could come here for the IG pic and what not but I don’t recommend plentea for da dranks. sowey

Plentea is a cute little hipster bubble tea shop located in China Town.
This place is quite pricey for bubble tea BUT you do get a free/​reusable glass bottle!
Obviously this place is always BUSY. Lines start from outside the door depending on what time you visit the place. The lines usually start during the afternoons and will be CROWDED. i don’t recommend bringing any large groups of people.
Plentea DOES have additional seating upstairs but there’s only a few tables.
I really love how Plentea does not use any artificial flavors or powders for their drinks, basically everything is from scratch!
For drinks i ordered a Sea Salt Crema Tea ($ 4.95) with boba and egg pudding ($ 1.00)

The Sea Salt Crema Tea was my absolute FAVORITE. The glass jars were bigger than i expected. The consistency of the Sea Salt Cream was thick and creamy and was the BEST part of the drink. The tea was flavorful, sweet, and refreshing!
Don’t forget to grab yourself a bottle cap on the way out!

This is specifically for the nutella tea — it smells like a cavity and tastes like heaven.
But this is just a trendy boba place that popped up, so it’s very hipstery with their glass bottles and unique flavors (see nutella comment above).
Haven’t tried their regular teas though, but based on the flavored options, the tea is pretty overpowered by them.

Went here because a lot of people recommend it. The drinks were not good at all. The atmosphere was nice, the theme was very cute. I love the look, the jars, the interior and exterior: it was very contemporary. But the drinks was not good. Did not taste like authentic milk tea. Maybe their smoothie is better.
The green milk tea was alright, a lot of tea, not very sweet but wasn’t creamy enough, the boba was good tho. Very nice texture. ³⁄₅
The oolong milk tea was disgusting and tasted like roasted water ⁰⁄₅.

Overall, never again. The service was really good tho. She remade the drink and asked which drink didn’t taste good. Probably for reviewing. If you wanna go for the experience, then it’s nice. But if you’re going for the drink, it’s disappointing. So many good tea places out there, this one didn’t make it on my list :(it’s pretty busy tho. Always a line, maybe we bought the wrong drinks

The long of it:
It took me at least 30−45min to get a boba drink here. The wait is quite ridiculous. The line to order is long and on top of that it takes them a very long time to make your drinks. The gimmick of this place is the glass bottles that your drinks come in. There’s really nothing to special about it, just a nice keepsake and if you bring it back you get a discount on your next drink. It seems a bit cumbersome to bring a glass bottle around for fear it might break. I order the sea salt crema tea with grass jelly (because the cashier person said it was better than boba). Was it better than boba? Eh, it was just ok and overall I liked the sea salt cream but other than that there was nothing spectacular about it and I certainly would not come back to wait in a long line. If they could just somehow shorten the wait times then this place would be better.

FIRST time of PLENTEA («plenty») times to come!
Point to note: I am not a crazy boba fan and really don’t drink boba all that often (except for half and half in socal which I lovee or sharetea which is pretty good too).
However, this place definitely has my stamp of approval for your boba fix. There are so many flavors – original milk tea, matcha latte, sweet taro, coffee milk, almond milk, and even nutella milk (??!). They also have fruit teas for the non-​milk tea lovers. Drinks are ~$ 5 and you basically choose your flavored drink cold/​hot, sugar level (50% is usually perfect for me for other places but plentea makes it less sweet compared to other places which is perfect for me), and finally add-​ins (my fav!). For add-​ins you get to choose from: taro/​egg pudding (my must-​have!), tapioca (boba), chia seed (for the health nuts), lychee jelly (fruity peeps), grass jelly (yum), red bean (for the sweeties), and aloe (light jelly/​texture). My favorite part is the glass bottle your drink comes in. They’re super adorable and you can even keep them! (or bring them back for your next drink for 10% off… correct me if I’m wrong).
I got the almond milk tea with taro pudding (my two fav things together omg), cold, 50% sugar. Loved it! It had a nice almond flavor that tasted really pure (NOT artificial almond flavor that gets stuck at the back of your throat), subtle black tea mixed in the background that was not overpowering or bitter, and perfect level of creaminess that just had me wanting more! Definitely wished they gave more taro pudding because it was that good – again, no artificial or overly sweet taro taste, and the pudding tasted soft and fluffy. I’m already ready to come back and try some more! Matcha is definitely my thing so… until next time!

This is a nice tea shop with ok tasting teas. I was recommended to try the Oolong milk tea by the helpful employee at the register and I liked it, it had an interesting flavor. Keep in mind that you can request to try the favors before committing to a type. My friends got a variety including: iced coffee, strawberry fruit milk tea, and apple honey flavored tea. They enjoyed it, but our complaint is that it can be a little too sweet and the drinks were average. The lines to get these teas is also so long out the door that it may not even be worth the 20 minute wait just to order. I also find these teas to be a little pricier than other places, but that may be due to the glass bottle it comes in that you get to keep! If you visit often be sure to keep the bring the bottle for discounts.
If the downstairs gets crowded check out the upstairs for extra seating. The couches are comfortable and it is a great space to hang out. But one thing is that I found that it was strange to no have a bathroom in a place that sells drinks…

Plentea is very cute name for a boba place. Coming to San Francisco, I heard boba guys and plentea is a must go to boba place. Since I only stayed in San Francisco for three days I made the best out of it. I went to boba guys the day before and the next day I went to Plentea.
This place is a bit bigger than the boba guys I’ve been to and also it has seating. It also had a upstairs seating too which is good for studying.
I’m more drawn to this place because they give jars. I like collecting jar even back in LA. I got the Sea Salt Crema Sweet Crema Tea for $ 5. I like how there’s a separation with the crème and the tea. It wasn’t too sweet and it taste like crème with a bit a sweetness. It had oolong tea in it I believe mixed with the crème on top. My boyfriend got a Mango Fresh Fruit Tea for $ 5, but then they ran out of Mango bits so they were gonna replace it with Honeydew bits. He ended up getting a Honeydrew Fresh Fruit Tea, but he was fine with it. The taste of the tea was overpowering the honeydrew in the drink. The bits were really random which made some pieces stuck to the straw, but that’s cause we used a small straw later on. It wasn’t sweet at at all. I didn’t get to try any boba, but next time I will.
I would come back just for some jars. You also get 15% off two drink when you check in. It cost $ 10 for two drinks. But if you decide you don’t want the jar there is a tray next to the straws where you can place it and they’ll reuse it I think. Also there are caps on the side if you need a cap for your jar.

It’s a long wait for milk tea/​milk coffee drinks. Their novelty is that they serve your drink in a milk glass container that you get to keep.
I didn’t think it was worth the wait. The line is long to order, and then after you order you also have to wait awhile to get your drink. The portion is big, but the taste is just ok.
I enjoyed my milk container, but my drink wasn’t very good and so it was just a lot of liquid that ended up finishing without being super impressed.
This place is pretty popular so maybe they are known for different drinks, but that day I was looking for your basic milk tea with boba and I’ve definitely had better elsewhere.
It’s a trendy place to check out, but I won’t crave coming back.

99 bottles of boba on the wall, 99 bottles of… Raise your hand if you came here for the bottles. You too? So it’s not just me?
Let’s admit it. The major draw for this place is definitely the neat glass bottles you can take away from this place. For tourists, it’s a nifty little souvenir. For locals, it’s one less glassware I have to buy at Ikea. It does up the price of the average milk tea to around $ 5 and that’s before the toppings/​boba is counted. But then again, you’re in SF and most of the trendy boba shops are that expensive these days.
I had the CoffMilk which was a coffee milk tea and I was disappointed that it didn’t look like what was pictured on the menu with the swirls of white and dark brown floating down to the bottom. Instead, it was already all mixed in and looked similar to a Starbucks Frappuccino bottle. Taste-​wise, it was just as similar to the Mocha Frap you can buy at Safeway although slightly more diluted with the ice.
Tea-​wise, I’m not blown away. I wouldn’t fork over my $ 5 for it on any occasion except for when I’m needing a new bottle or have a friend visiting from out of town. I do think the experience of coming here is unique because you can watch them make the drinks and they use a funnel to pour in the boba into the bottles. It definitely beats watching the boba cup sealer machine (although that has its fun at times). And who can resist the allure of having your own Plentea bottle to keep?
Important Tidbits: Make sure to get a plastic cap for your bottle. They’re at the counter. But they aren’t 100% seal proof so don’t put your full trust in it. There’s a Unilocal check-​in offer for 15% off two drinks so check-​in on Unilocal.Credit card minimum is $ 10. No bathroom but there is upstairs seating. And you can bring back your bottle for 10% off your next purchase. But who actually wants to carry their bottle back?

There was plentea of people waiting in line that’s for sure. To be honest I really only came for the bottle because I mean who doesn’t like cute bottles?
I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea. Normally when I try a new boba place I always order Milk Tea to determine if I like it or not. Unfortunately it didn’t meet my standards. It tasted more like milk and sugar instead. Also it wasn’t really worth waiting in line for 20 minutes then waiting another 10 for our drinks.
I’ll probably come by another time when it’s less busy and try some other drinks.

Solid boba experience. Not one of my better experience, but not too many complaints. This is the place that gives you the drink in a glass bottle/​mason jar. It’s a nice little souvenir, haha. If you bring it back, you get a 10% discount. They also have a sweet upstairs area to sit back and chill at.
I got the taro milk with boba pearls. The taro milk had the right consistency (potatoe-​y, which some people don’t like, but I love!) and good flavor. The boba was not too sweet, until the end when it had soaked up all of the milk. The price is $ 5+ for most drinks (if you add at least one extra ingredient), but this is expected with the hardware.
Would definitely return with my nifty mason jar to try some of the other flavors!

Confirmed: the hype is more because of the glass bottles than the actual boba.
I ordered the ice milk with caramel and my boyfriend got the milk tea flavor. Both were chilled to a perfection. The ice milk was sweet but overly frothy. The milk tea was simple — very classic. Their boba was chewy, no complaints there. The drinks weren’t astonishingly amazing, but who knows? It felt like I paid $ 5 for three gulps… Even with the Unilocal check-​in discount, two drinks brought the bill above $ 10.
There’s a few tables and seats downstairs but it looks like upstairs is for those hoping to either study or lounge around. The place is very cutesy from the décor to the glass bottles to how «cute» that they think this size isn’t a rip-​off.

Did you say boba?
Last time I was in the Bay I had to try the famous Boba Guys. This time around my must stop boba visit was Plentea. They have a really cute storefront– it’s pretty narrow but they have an upstairs loft where customers can lounge for a bit with their drinks. The menu includes classic milk teas, fruit milk teas made with real fruit, blended milk tea, and iced teas plus a small assortment of small plates that range from sweet waffles to fried fish balls. They also have a specials board with rotating seasonal teas and offerings.
I immediately went for one of their specials: sea salt cream oolong tea. Sea salt cream is my absolute favorite but not many tea houses carry it, so when I see it I have to order it. My girlfriends ordered the black milk tea and the almond milk tea. We all added boba, of course! The sea salt cream oolong tea was good but not the best I’ve had. I really liked that the tea wasn’t overly sweet and I could really taste that distinct oolong profile, but the sea salt cream wasn’t well balanced. It leaned a bit too much on the salty side and the consistency could have been more on the meringue side rather than melty. If you love sea salt cream, you know what I mean.
I tried my friends’ drinks and they were good but nothing to write home about it. Though major points for not being drenched in sugar; I hate it when tea house do that. The cute glass jars can go home with you or can be recycled with the shop which I thought was really cool for those of us that have an abundance of cutesy mason jars from other foodie adventures (guilty!).
The service was friendly. Just a note for debit/​credit card users they only accept for purchases $ 10 or more which I can know can be annoying but I’m used to this with tea houses. We also used the 15% off check-​in offer on Unilocal with no problem, they just let us know that it would only apply to two drinks which was fine with me.

Been wanting to come here for awhile after seeing a photo of the cute glasses they give the boba in and finally got around to trying Plentea.
First time I came I tried the milk tea with boba. The milk tea is not overly sweet but rather has more a tea taste which I really enjoyed.
I then tried their thai tea since this is one of my FAVORITE drinks ever. They did my favorite drink justice as it was not overly sweet and tasted pretty good. I’m kind of picky when it comes to thai tea so it says a lot when I enjoyed their thai tea.
I love the packaging and how they give their boba in glasses! I washed mine out and kept it since I liked it so much. It is a bit more pricier than other boba places but I think it’s worth it.
Definitely want to come back to try some of their other flavors as well!

Unique flavors and they open later compared to other boba shops which is a plus.
I got the iced milk with brown sugar and I liked it. It just tasted like regular milk tea but sweeter. Nothing really special but it was good.
BF got the sea salt crema and I don’t think he really liked it. I for sure didn’t like it. It was bitter and not satisfying. He said he couldn’t taste the sea salt in it.
Definitely not the best we had, but not the worst.

Plentea has just the cutest name EVER! I love that you get a little souvenir cup and a discount if you bring it back in next time. Definitely gimmicky, but I love it! As for the teas, I don’t think I’ve found my favorite yet. Out of the ones I’ve tried the matcha milk tea was my most preferred, but not a favorite. I was not a fan of the strawberry milk tea.
It is just the absolute cutest place to hang out too. Lots of seating, and a cute little upstairs area. However, the few times I’ve been, it’s been rather hot inside (to the point that I was starting to sweat!). They also have sandwiches and food that actually sound good too, which is awesome!

Love this place! Everything is on point from the workers to the tea to the ambiance.
Who hasn’t seen the super cute plentea glass bottles? I had to see if this place lived up to the hype. I ordered the matcha latte with boba and it was pretty good. I prefer boba guys, but it was still a very very good matcha.
This location is multileveled with an upstairs lounge area. I love the the upstairs, perfect place to relax and enjoy tea.

Not gonna lie. I came here for one reason: I wanted the glass jar.
That being said, I’ve found that Plentea is a pretty decent place to settle a boba craving. Boba is on point and the tea flavors are strong. Their prices are a little bit higher on average (even by SF standards), but that’s expected because of the glass jars. If you don’t want to take one home, you can leave your empty bottle in the tub next to the straws; if you want to take it home, grab a cap (also located next to the straws) so that any remaining liquid doesn’t spill out while you’re in transit.
There’s usually a line out the door if you go during peak social hours (i.e., weekends, weekday evenings after work) but it moves fairly quickly. There are some seats on the ground floor, but there’s also a cute seating area upstairs that’s a little more secluded.
Staff is super friendly. You can get 15% off of two drinks if you check in on Unilocal!And if you don’t like the way that your drink turns out, they’re happy to make another for you. (Just remember to ask nicely!)
