Really, the only good thing this coffee shop’s got going for it is its backyard patio and late hours. Other than that, totally mediocre and overpriced. I’ve tried both food and drink here several times and it all sucks(especially the chai — some shitty boxed mix that tastes horrible). The service sucks too.

Came here on memorial holiday. Parking was minimal. A handful of Dogs were all parked/tied i the front place mingling with one another and sniffing all the humans that entered the café. The place was pretty crowded, barely any seats left in the back. Outside patio had a lot of cobwebs on the chairs and tables, but it’s a nice breezy and sunny yard with privacy from the outside street. Can get a bit loud outside if you’re trying to study, depending on the crowd. Place is kept pretty clean in the yard, although leaves and tree stuff constantly fell into my drinks. There’s a few wandering birdies searching for crumbs from human food. The chimes on the outside was a peaceful serene to me while to some it may be a nuisance. In about an hour or two i was able to move into the back sheltered area where the seats to the wall on the right as you enter had a line of squeaky bench and a slanted table. The outlets on the charging station was ample to share, which was a nice touch and expected of any café around the city. However, the wifi was horrendous, worse than the ones at your local Starbucks. :(So if you’re doing anything requiring wifi, I’d say try another place. The ambiance had a nice homey feeling with books lined to the walls and a real fireplace that appears to be just décor. The drinks were okay depending what you order. The berry drinks were over-sweetened. I hope they didn’t add extra sugar because it would probably be the reason why it was so sweet. Fruit drinks always taste best with their natural already sweetened self. The tomato bisque tasted a bit creamy(mediocre). The bread that came with it tasted perfectly warm and lightly toasted. The wrap was nice and cheesy. However, the ends of the wrap is too doughy(like all wraps?). Would have been nice if the soup and the wraps came separate because both tasted better warm. Once you have one the other is already on the cold side. I probably would not go out of my way to come here again considering how difficult it is to find parking and that none of the drinks or food really stood out to me. However, for studying with a book and papers and pens, i might stop by one day, but i do prefer places that opens later. This place close at 8pm, and the worker tries to take out trash and clean around you at about 7:20 you feel the pressure of being hustled. So all in all this place is OK to me. Not extremely great, but not that bad.

Great food but they do not check their Unilocal orders. I had to order all over again when I got there. Really glad I didn’t pay through Unilocal

This place is great to get a bite with friends or just to sit by yourself. I tried the veggie wrap and frappucino and they were both fantastic. There’s a patio on the outside at the back of the place which is a little hidden gem. Make sure to check it out!

Great back outdoor patio. The food was solid– I had a grilled lavash tuna melt & hobby had a Croque Monsieur sandwich. Lots of drink options & Mitchell’s ice cream too! Ordering process, getting your food is a little hectic, takes a while when they’re busy.

Such good coffee! Reasonably priced and it offers lots of options with the menu. Very down to earth place with loads of seating. I’m a fan!

2.5 stars, bumped up for the space. It’s a nice café to sit and mingle, but also looks a bit grimey and old, like it had witnessed a lot of history. I only got a coffee from here so this is solely a coffee review. What can I say? The coffee just isn’t that great. I had to add a whole lot of sugar just to make it drinkable — I don’t usually, but I also hate overwhelming bitterness and sourness. In terms of the coffee scale, I suggest you go elsewhere, especially in a city with so many good coffee choices. It is a place you can sit and linger for a while though, unlike a lot of small places, so at least that’s nice.

Favorite café for studying. They have three spaces available for you to choose from. The front is mostly used for folks who want to grab a bite to eat and do some people watching. The middle is where I usually stay, its the most quite, comfy and roomy. The outdoor space is beautiful and the go to on a sunny day not the best for studying. Staff is very nice, polite and very receptive to conversations. The food is great and recommend their eggplant pesto falafel. The only thing that is bothersome is that when folks are heading to the outdoor space through the quite middle space they always leave the door open so you may have to repeatedly tell folks to shut the door behind them. Also every 2nd and 4th Sunday a group of musicians come and practice in the quite part of the café and make it difficult to study so I usually find another café but other then that I love Progressive Grounds.

Wondered in here after training a client who lives in the area. The menu had delectable items, savory mixes between Parisian street food crepes such as au petit grec and Middle-Eastern specialties such as lahambajin. In the meantime, the owner prepared me a «small» but very substantial yogurt parfait and a strong, well-balanced Americano. However, despite the glow in my eyes, I was told that they only begin serving paninis and lavash wraps after 10:30. Small place with free wi-fi, affordable rustic nibbles and the owner’s pleasant warbling in French will see me return for a casual friend date or sun-streamed reading or email catch-up day.

Stumbled upon this place on a rainy day when i was visiting the bay. Good amount of street parking and lots of cool shops around the area. This place has a back seating area that I didn’t even see until I went to the bathroom, very cool, with lots more seating. The prices are fair and service is good. They serve ice cream and sandwiches as well as their regular coffee menu. Fast wi-fi and good amount of plugs, great for studying or hanging out!

First visit in ages. The shittiness continues. Waited in a long line. Tried to order a bagel. Out of bagels! If I had known(no sign), I would have gone elsewhere. I then order a cookie and sat down. How was the cookie? Stale! Then tried to connect to the Internet as I had work to do. Of course, it is not working!

I love this local coffee house. It has my favorite iced chai latte in SF. They also have amazing homemade pastries and cakes that are moist, delicious and bursting with flavor. You can tell that everything here is made with care and pride. They have an extensive menu of sandwiches and salads that look very appetizing. They have a great array of displayed ice cream from Mitchell’s making this café attractive for adults and kids alike. They have a lot of table space and moderately loud music making it a good place to read the newspaper, browse the web, meet friends or just chill and relax.

I was looking for a place to get some work done in Bernal heights and there is no shortage of those here. Its like a scene from pleasantville when you pop over to Bernal Heights and Progressive Grounds fits right into that homey atmosphere. The staff was really nice upon entering. You can tell they have a lot of locals and repeat customers which is a good sign of a quality establishment. I didn’t order coffee but I did try to Croque Monsuier. It was excellent. The bechamel sauce was doused all over the sandwich and i couldn’t stop eating it. They have a large menu of breakfast items. They also have a lot of wraps and sandwiches as well so you can stop by anytime a grab a meal. The other part that make Progressive wonderful is its seating and wifi. They have a really strong wifi service and plenty of seating for everyone to work. They have a back patio area that is completely separate from the entrance and ordering area. This is really good to help from getting distracted. Most places wouldn’t trust you in a place with wifi to just sit and work but they were so chill here. You can actually come and get hours of work done and if you buy something no one will bother you. I also noticed the place is really pet and family friendly. Seriously i have never seen so many people come in with a baby stroller or toddler in a two hour sitting. This place is exactly what you want in a internet café. Good food, great internet and plenty of space and plugs to work long hours. Come here to write the next great American novel! Or just grab a coffee. Whichever comes first.

Although it is a coffee shop, the only drink I order from here with caffeine in it is an iced coffee and it is average. However, the milkshakes and smoothies here are awesome. The Berry Buster smoothie is affordable and tasty and the Oreo cookie milkshake is delightful. Would have been five stars if their coffee was better.

$ 14 w/o tip for a pretty mediocre salad and an iced tea. Not worth coming back for food… or at least the salad. There were two tiny pieces of tomato and two slices of cucumber with the vast majority lettuce. The chicken was dry too. He dressing was homemade and good though. Overall, this was more a $ 5 salad, if that.

A nice little coffee spot in Bernal. I needed coffee, they sell coffee! The coffee was good. It’s crazy how the universe works sometimes… The staff was friendly and we had a nice chat about the Warriors(go Dubs!).

had to do a quick coffee run before the library. saw progressive grounds on my Unilocal and decided to give it a try. house coffee — 2.50 for a medium and 3.00 if it was organic. decided to go with the regular coffee. I drink my coffee black so first sip was alright, but then I kept drinking it. had a sour taste and not of my liking. maybe I should of opt for the latte instead… overall, coffee was okay, but they do offer an extensive menu on food(lavash wraps) for around $ 8 and I did see a great space to read and study. parking is not too bad either if you park downer in the residential area. Main Street of cortland are more meter parking. I’ll be back next time to try something new and possibly a wrap since they had a big variety of choices. not so sure about the coffee though.
