I believe this is the best near-the-office Lunch food I have had in my entire career. Ever since they open I have been completely disinterested in the dozens of other options nearby. SUPER fresh, beautiful food, amazing options. Today I’m enjoying sobu noodles with snow peas, broccoli, and miso-glazed salmon. Omg. And the steak over rice w/avo. And the vietnamese fresh rolls with dipping sauce. And the octopus salad over farro. SO many great options and fresh as can be. LOVE it.

I LOVE Proper Food for a healthy and easy grab and go. I was so excited they opened this location so I no longer have to trek to their other location on Mission Street. My absolute favorite item is the Quinoa Beet Pesto Salad. If you get it without the chicken option it is still very satisfying and keeps me full well until dinner. I know that this location is most likely competing with Eatsa a few blocks down but I would choose Proper Food over Eatsa any day! It is WAY more fresh, there is more variety plus the staff here is extremely friendly.

Proper Food just opened on Spear Street in the 1 Market Building. It has healthy and tasty take-out options, including many vegetarian choices. It looks like a mainly grab-and-go setup, which is great for those rushed weekday lunches. If you select a hot item(like vegan lasagna), they can heat it for you there or you can do it at home. I plan to get some items for dinner on days when I’m too busy to cook, though the food is made fresh and sells out, so buy it mid-day or earlier. They also have breakfast items. I’m sure I’ll be going there a ton because I work nearby. For my first visit I got the Mis-Glazed Tofu & Soba Noodle salad, which includes broccoli, cilantro, roasted peanuts, daikon, and marinated shiitakes. This was a WIN, a great combo of flavors and textures, with enough dressing to coat everything. The only thing I’d suggest is a bit more veggies and less noodles. Thank goodness for a new, easy, delicious, and non-greasy option by the office for the many days I’m too lazy to bring lunch.
