Very good food and good service… loved the chicken curry we had for lunch. A hidden gem.

The service on this place is horrible. They keep mixing orders and don’t pay attention to the customer time. Recently I went to the place and order panner tikka masala, and after the long wait and few reminders I got my order. And almost when I was about to eat it I realized it was chicken tikka masala. Horrible!

Great food, very friendly people. It has become our daily stop for Indian food. Their achari paneer, bhagara baigan are a definitely worth trying.

Hands down one of the best chicken Biryani I have had in San Francisco. They seem to have mastered the art of cooking the most flavorful, well cooked rice with the perfect blend of spices. The portions are generous and the staff is friendly and courteous. Nothing beats the taste of my mom’s home cooked Biryani back in Pakistan, but this one is a winner here in the city :)

Some of the best Indian I’ve ever tasted and I’ve been to India. Great price, friendly staff :) It’s not normal self or counter serve. You order and pay at the register, you pick up the plates and forks yourself, they cook it and bring it out to you :)

love, love, love this place. The food is so good and so affordable. They will get 5 stars as soon as they scrub the floor and upgrade the bathroom.

Good Indian/Paki food in the Northbeach neighbourhood. Friendly and hospitable folks and good Indian music and videos playing all the time.

Nothing great about food but prices are not that high too. If you want something quick to eat and don’t want to spend too much time then this place is good.

One of the truly authentic Indian cuisine restaurants in SF. Consistent taste and great staff. Truly a homely feeling for Indian students and a delicious quick-pit-stop for tourists! Oh wait, the prices here will just keep you coming back for more!

I tried the lamb tikka masala and regular naan. Quick friendly service and good food. It’s on the cheaper end of pricing which was nice. The dining area was a bit worn, but it matches the pricing. I would recommend this place for a casual meal.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the food I had yesterday at Raavi, one thing I witnessed completely made me lose my appetite. I stopped eating immediately, pretended I was full, and just hoped my guests didn’t notice the cockroach climbing up the wall behind them. To no avail however, one of them did notice and was keeping it quiet just like I was. I couldn’t sleep just thinking about how the food I ate over dinner was likely infested with cockroach feces and lord knows what else. The bathroom, which is down a flight of stairs, is unlike any other. Horrifying gross. And the smell is unlike any other. If anyone here on Unilocal has ever been to a refuge camp in the middle east, the bathroom at Raavi is exactly the same… which is pretty crazy to see here in U. S…but maybe my shock could be attributed to the fact that I’m not a native city dweller. Anyway, never coming back here due to the roach and the bathroom. I hope this place gets hit by a health inspector asap.

Loved this place so much I went here twice while visiting SF. Some of the best Indian I’ve had in awhile. Liked the self serve nature as it keeps it affordable. Nothing too fancy or appealing about the décor but who cares when the food is this good.

Great Indian food at a good price. Not huge in portion but not really needed as we order many dishes and enjoyed every single one of them! HIGHLY recommend this place.

Palak paneer = spicy, salty and filling. Onion naan = hot, fresh and a bit chewy. It wasn’t anything to write home about. Rice = good. Free cup of chai with meal. Service = self service. Order and pay at the counter. Then wait for the food for take out or for them to bring it to the table. Get your own drinks, silverware, napkins, etc. Prices = reasonable. All of above was $ 11.96, with leftovers for another meal. Overall, it was a quick place for Indian food.

Self-serve authentic Indian food around the corner from the Hilton on Kearny. Food is solid, tastes home-cooked, and cheap! I’m a fan of really spicy food(taste buds don’t work kind of spicy). Too often I go to places and order spicy, and instead of spicy, I get something mild and really oily. Not here. Ordered extra spicy with very little oil and got exactly what I asked for. Achaar fish was very flavorful and it wasn’t sitting in oil. Ambience isn’t the best though. Not a date place or a place to go for a fun night out, but perfect for me: a table of one when traveling for work.

Surprisingly good. I have walked past this place for years without stopping. Their space is not overly inviting, and it always seems empty. But give it a try, the food when you do try it is excellent. Great comfort indian food, not overly rich, but nice bold flavors.

Great food, good portions, affordable, and great location. It was very difficult giving this place a 3 because the food is out of this world, but they didn’t take my Groupon without an explanation. They also seemed to take awhile to open and set up the restaurant, causing us to wait outside for awhile. My friends and I had an amazing family style meal for lunch. We got samosas, mango lassi, garlic naan, fish karahi, chicken and lamb biriyani, bindi gosht, saag paneer, and tea. Every item was delicious. My favorite dish though was the fish karahi, which was very flavorful, juicy, and spicy, and the naan, which was also flavorful, warm, and soft. The 6 of us ate very, very well and had some leftovers. I was so full, I didn’t eat anything for the rest of the day. You get tea with your meal, and it is a nice thing to finish your meal off with. The place is clean, simple, and casual. You are responsible for setting your own table with dishes, water, etc. As other reviewers have mentioned, this place isn’t fancy but is just another casual Desi place. I am glad I got to try this place it is very popular among a lot of my friends, especially those who work nearby. I’ll eventually get over my Groupon heartbreak, but I still am very disappointed in them for not sticking to their commitments. Another note, some of the workers don’t get the tips you leave. I have friends who have been going for awhile, and they recommend leaving some of the tip on the table because the owners/management take the tips and won’t give it to some of the other wait staff. I loved the food, but some of their management practices make me not want to go back.
