I love convenient, yummy food and right now the chicken tortilla soup sans rice is my fave for lunch with maybe a side of the baja fish on the side as well. It’s great that they have a self serve salsa bar to fill the rest of the bowl of soup with lots of chopped onions and cilantro! Also, Javier is such a friendly face. Whenever we order catering, he comes with a big smile and is a real joy every time I come into contact with him.

Very friendly staff! Loved the food and the waitor Javier was so nice to my husband and I! Very friendly smile and loves to make him and I laugh! The only con was the wait for food which was made up by the taste. Fish tacos yumm!

4 stars for the food and 2 for the service. I love rubios, however, this location is severely lacking. They do not seem to understand the concept of a phone order. I called in food for pick up this weekend and when I arrived the person at the register told me they would input my food order then– 15 minutes after I had called it in. They didn’t seem that busy and it was annoying that I had to wait over 30 minutes for a «fast food» meal. Also this is not the first time this has happened– I’m not sure why phone orders are so confusing for this location.

We don’t expect amazing service at a chain like this, but at a minimum staff shouldn’t be rude to customers. My husband is one of the nicest guys I know, always polite and respectful to others. We didn’t even get through his order tonight when the person taking his order was really unnecessarily rude to him. We actually decided to leave without finishing our order, that’s how bad it was. Bad enough that, 5 hours later, I’m bothered enough to write a review about it.

Food is good but don’t go there on Monday. Chips are stale.

I’ve used Rubio’s a number of times for lunch meetings at work, and everything is always on point, from the ordering experience, to the delivery, to the food. I usually place my order with the manager a couple days before the lunch meeting, where they take down my order, address, and time. Since my work is located super close to this location, they give free delivery. In order to please the 20+ people who attend these meetings, I do a mix of vegetarian options and meat options. My go-to order is usually 2 – 3 regular taco bars, splitting between chicken, steak, and fajita veggies. This includes flour tortillas, corn tortillas, beans, cheese, guacamole, salsa, and chips. I usually vary the lunch order for each meeting and try new places each time, but I make an exception for Rubio’s since it’s so easy to order and the food is well liked by everybody.

Rubio’s is one of the few places open in the Financial District past time to leave the office. Being in a prime location, I’m sure it gets a lot of business for lunch. But we were at the ice rink at night, so where do you go with a schoolgirl in tow? Here. This is not quite comparable to the taquerias on Mission Street. It’s Mexican fast food, but thankfully, it’s far better than Taco Bell. Which is to say that it’s a little more authentic, a little more expensive, but not too much more in both cases. I had the Coastal Trio, and it was pretty good. The hunny had a shrimp taco(«it was hot, but it was good»), and they were okay that she requested that they take out almost everything except the shrimp. The girl had her usual quesadilla. We’ve eaten at Chipotle too, and that place is preferable to Rubio’s. Not only is its customization the highlight of the restaurant, but the food is just plain better. Still, Rubio’s is okay.

Just to get this out of the way, people, this is an American burrito place, a chained one like Chipotle. Food is cheap, and in my opinion taste better than Chipotle. I like to get the burrito especial with steak and it comes with chips. The staff here are always nice and friendly, but seatings can get really crowded during the lunch hour(like everywhere else in this area).

Worst lunch ever. Got chicken nachos without beans or sour cream. Rubio’s skimped on everything. Barely any cheese, chicken, salsa, or guac. Plain chips isn’t my definition of a filling/good lunch. Also, whatever small amount of cheese was provided was stuck to all the chips and paper like cement. While trying to pry chips from each other, the chips would break before I could get separate the cheese. I can’t exactly eat a huge blob of chips, cheese, and paper so the effort used to consume this minuscule lunch was definitely not worth it. I’ve been to other locations and got the same item but I got more toppings and a better meal. This SF location skimps too much on its toppings to make it worth it. After spending $ 9 on lunch, I’m still hungry. Avoid. (Only pluses — the employees were nice and the interior is nice with lots of seating)

San Francisco’s typically one of the better places to get some decent Mexican food, but sometimes, you just got to have something that’s a bit more Americanized — and sometimes, Taco Bell is just too much regret. That’s sort of where Rubio’s comes in. On the«healthiness» scale(note that when I say«healthy» I mean less so actually healthy so much as giving the impression of healthy), it doesn’t feel as healthy as Baja Fresh, but it isn’t Taco Bell. I can’t say much about the price, since it may have the San Francisco premium, but given other lunch options near the Embarcadero, Rubio’s is a steal. I’m not a huge fish taco person, so it’s a shame I’m not rating them for what they probably do best, but I digress. I went with a chicken burrito, and since Rubio’s does California style Americanized Mexican food(that’s a mouthful), avocado is something that’s always included. I went without the guacamole, and I was met with a tiny burrito on a giant plate. Sometimes, when you go without the guac, you get compensated with something else — not here. I sat in envy on my tiny little plate while seeing giant burritos on others’. What a day. I will be back, but maybe next time I’ll go with something besides a guac-less burrito. TIP: The salsa bar is pretty good!

Glad to find this one. It’s a be of San Diego in the urban jungle. The food has improved I especially like the sea bass tacos and the fresh brewed iced tea. Clearly all the food is made to order which is nice for a quick serve establishment. Shout out to the cashier Christa, she was very pleasant even after a full Friday lunch rush. Thanks!

$ 1.50 fish tacos after 2.30pm on Tuesdays! Their salsa is also amazingly delicious! #NuffSaid

I know it is a chain, but well who cares if the food tastes good! I discovered Rubios in San Diego and have been a fan ever since. I really like this location. It is blocks away from where I work and their service is quick and friendly. My office also have food catered from them a few times. The $ 1.50 fish tacos on Tuesday are the best. It is after 2:30PM and I load some fish tacos for dinner on my way back home. My usual lunch option is the two taco plate. My favorites are the Mahi Mahi fish taco and Salsa Verde shrimp taco. You can also do a mix and match. The salsa bar is clean and I love their salsas. The service is excellent. Usually there is a huge line after 12PM. But the line moves quickly. Overall, a great lunch spot in FiDi for those who are looking for quick and good food!

Meh. Non-descript Mexican food. There are a million places better. Especially in SF where the options are plentiful. If you need a quick bite and are in a rush, it’ll do. Otherwise, keep searching Unilocal — you’ll find something better.

$ 1.50 fish taco Tuesday FTW! The portions of the fish tacos are pretty hefty. I recommend 3 – 4 tacos per person. This place is nothing fancy but def worth coming here on a Tuesday for a quick dinner!

The food wasn’t the worst here, but any place that automatically puts some kind of mayo sauce on their tacos is not ok with me. Blech!

I ordered three tacos: the Original Fish(on Taco Tuesdays, it’s $ 1.50), the Pacific Mahi Mahi, and the Gourmet Shrimp. The Original and Mahi Mahi were good but the Gourmet Shrimp was outstanding! It was also the most expensive but so worth it. The toasted mozzarella gives it a nice little crunch and some of my favorite foods are in there: avocado, bacon, jack and white cheddar cheese. Excited to go back to get the Gourmet Shrimp and try the Mango Habanero Mahi Mahi.

Great fast food/quick lunch option in FiDi. ***Make sure to get here before 1:45 am because the line gets VERY long VERY quickly around noon** My favorite part of this restaurant is the full disclosure regarding calorie counts. There are several low-medium healthier options on Rubio’s menu. Please allow me to highlight some of these: *Chipotle orange salad(with choice of chicken, shrimp, talapia, and mahi mahi) *HealthMex burrito *Chopped salad *Pacific mahi tacos *Chicken tortilla soup Make sure to load up on the fresh salsa bar. The green tomatillo salsa is divine.

I often come here for Fish Taco Tuesday. $ 1.50 it’s a steal! I love it. Eat about 2 – 3 and you’re done! Salsa bar is great. Fresh lemons and limes for the taking. Service is often very polite. Not a loud place. Place is clean. The other day I came here to order lunch. Tried something new: Grilled Tilapia Burrito(you can also get the blackened version). Wait was pretty long. Funny story: As I was waiting for my order, the lady picked up the order before mine. Was about to grab chips from under the counter to then see there was only one bag left, so she went to the back(where they were packaging new bags of chips) and took one from there. I was like awesome, new bags of chips. When it was my turn, she grabbed the one from under the counter –____-;;;; Really… I was standing there, watching her for 5 minutes. Can’t tell if she was hating on me for standing there but WHYY! Very disappointed in her! Back on topic, the Tilapia burrito was very delicious. It was a little spicy but tolerable. The fish was cooked nicely, not dry or fishy taste. Rice, corn, guac, and veggies were a good combination. The size of the burrito was about 8 inches I think. Pretty ok size. Will be returning for other lunches!
