I had the most amazing experience with Blake Preston! He gave me a fabulous blow out, the best I ever had! Would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to leave looking and feeling fabulous!

I met Blake Preston through his brother. He has recently moved to San Francisco and thank goodness he did. I have been trying to find a great hair stylist since I moved the bay in the past year. Blake is super attentive, a great listener and a great stylist. I visited Blake recently for a cut and blowout. Since I’ve been trying to grow my hair out he didnot take off too much. He cut just enough so that it grows back healthy. I was very happy with my experience and would refer him to anyone looking for a great hair stylist in the city. Having him close by will save me from making the trips to Sacramento I was doing prior.

What a wonderful experience! Just had my first cut with Jen, and it was perfect. She really got exactly what I was after and handled my curls like a champ. She was lovely to work with, and really made it a luxurious experience. Cannot wait to come back again! After trying a number of other salons in the area, I’ve found my place.

I have been getting my hair cut here since 2007, and I can not imaging getting my hair cut anywhere else. Jen is especially good at wavy hair, and always delightful to talk to. I intentionally err on the side of getting my hair cut a little too frequently because she is so good!
Parking in Hayes Valley is limited, so for those traveling by private car, I recommend budgeting extra time for this activity or consider using an alternative form of transportation.

I love this salon! Jen is friendly and really good at what she does. She takes her time to know exactly what I want and I always leave happy with my hair cut and color. Highly recommend this salon.

The gals at Salon de Bar are fabulous. I have hard to handle curly hair, and Karen has kept it looking great for years. When I need a quick curl snip (what others would call a bang trim), Jen and Shana have fit me in as well… They really work as a team and take care of their clients. I would not think of going anywhere else… whatever name the Salon takes on!

This place is great. Reliably high quality cuts, friendly, flexible, and relaxed. I’m happy I found it.

I’ve been coming to Jen for nearly 10 years now for my haircuts, and she’s great. Never an off day on all that time, always great results. Lots of fun, friendly, but still mellow. She was just getting started when I first came here, and I recruited many friends (guys and girls) to come here as well. Unless they moved away, all of them have kept coming.
The new Salon de Bar has a great feel, always clean and sunny, with a refreshing drink to welcome you. Highly recommended!

I have been going to Jen for the past 3 years and absolutely love her and they way she cuts/​styles my hair. It is the first time someone actually listens to what I want and makes it happen. Along with my hair cuts she also styled my hair for a photo shoot I had and loved it. You will not be disappointed if you go to any of the girls at Salon De Bar!

I’ve been seeing Jen for almost two years now. I was looking for a specialist who would be able to deal with sensitive skin because I wanted to bleach and dye my hair.
Whenever I give a general idea of how my haircut to look Jen will tweak it to match my face. She’s always open to try new things and isn’t afraid to give you her honest opinion. Haircut, wash, bleaching, and dying, she does it all.

I Love Karen and Barbie and Jennie! Karen has been doing my hair for 10 years and I love what a great job she does and how well she LISTENs to her clients. The place is relaxing and friendly… Wouldn’t want anyone else to do my hair! Love it!

I have been going to Karen for years and years and will be going to her for as long she hold a pair of scissors. She cuts and colors my hair and is the only stylist I have ever been loyal to. I refused a free cut as a hair model because I didn’t want anyone else touching my hair.
Jen has taken over the old Fringe, now Salon de Bar, and is running the show. Both Karen and Jen have an immensly loyal clientele because this place is THAT good and has always been that good. Excited to see the direction the salon will soar now. You will thank yourself for booking an appointment here because the service is great, the salon is fresh in a perfect location and the stylists are fantastic.

Salon de Bar is the old Fringe Salon now owned by THE best stylist at Fringe, Jen de Bar. I’ve been seeing Jen since 2008 for the best haircuts and hair color. She’s given me A lines, asymmetrical cuts, bobs, … LOTS of different haircuts and they’ve all been awesome. On top of that, she’s the best pink hair colorist I’ve met to date. I’ve gone from a full head of pink hair to a more subtle «professional» version of the pink on my thick, straight Asian black hair.
Highly recommend Jen and the great staff she’s retained at Salon de Bar!

I’ve been getting my hair cut (and used to get it colored) by Jen for the last 6 years or so. She’s taken what used to be Fringe Salon and turned into her own place. She’s super talented with both color and haircuts. My hair is stick-​straight and heavy, and she manages to always make it look good with long layers and side-​bangs. In the past, I’ve gotten highlights, had shoulder-​length hair, and she’s always managed to take the vague directions /​pointing at pictures of what I want, and translate it into something that looks good with my face.
If you feel like talking a lot, she’ll talk, and if you feel like being quiet and browsing your phone or a magazine, she’ll let you do that too. You’ll always get tea or water, and there’s a lot of natural sunlight in the place and it’s always clean and decorated tastefully.
Her prices are reasonable, it’s easy to make appointments online or via phone, and the salon is centrally located in Hayes Valley across from the Grove and next to Hayes Street Grill. She’s great about being flexible with her schedule to try to get you in, which I totally appreciate with a busy schedule, and goes to show that she always puts her customers first.
