There were about 20 people in line and it reminded me of the soup man in nyc(soup nazi from seinfeld) so gave it a try. 8 bucks for a cup of soup and piece of bread seems steep compared to other lunch alternatives in the neighborhood. The soup was good. I got the split pea soup and liked that it didnt have too much salt. But it was lacking any Wow to it. Nothing special. Just decent soup for 8 bucks. Note that it is strictly take out with hardly enough room for more than one customer at a time to step in and order.

I had the Mexican Tortilla Soup It was delicious, heavy, and warm. However, I would say that it was over spiced and a little too strong for me. However, it was just absolutely perfect for a cold day in San Francisco. If you want a cheap, quick, easy-access lunch, Soup Company’s a go. They’re fast and have the delicious soup all ready to go. Their bread is disappointingly dry and they give you a small portion: c, but it’s good! Extra bread is extra 35 cents. They have sandwich options, as well.

Hole in the wall location that has pre made sandwiches and salads. Decent but nothing special at fair prices. They also have soups that change every now an then. Service is good and everything is to go as they do not have an seating area.

Besides The Melt, this is my favorite nearby spot for a really quick work lunch. They’re quick, have a ton of options, and the price is good. Also, the soups are yummy!

Super super fast. We’re talking minutes, if not seconds. It’s about the size of an ATM, but it’s obvious this place is for people who want something simple, quick, and cheap. I’ve been here a couple times, during the lunch hour the line only gets to be about 3 to 4 people max since it moves very quickly. The regular(small) size is plenty, I always finish feeling very full, the Tomato Basil is very tasty and fairly low in calories(138!) but the tortilla soup is kinda gross. A little too heavy and heavily seasoned.

I had the Chicken Pozole soup it was really good, it had just enough spice. The soup had lots of chicken pieces in it with a spicy tomato broth it also had yummy potatoes and hominy-corn.

I usually order the same soup all the time. The corn chowder. Anyways, it is super tiny but the man that works there is so very nice and helpful. Get there early or else you’ll be waiting in a line especially on chilly cooler days.

I guess I walked in here with a high expectation of having good soup. Considering their name even has soup in it, you’d think they would do justice to it; but I think not. I ordered the mexican tortilla soup and roasted turkey sandwich. Mexican Tortilla soup — since when did tortilla soup have dark brown colored nacho chips in them? tasted GROSS ! Roasted turkey sandwich — the shrinkwrapped sandwich was really small; the bread seemed to be from last year and the turkey was just deli lunchmeat(what happened to the roasted part ?) Worst $ 10.00 I’ve spent in San Francisco. Should have gone to Jack in the Box across the street.

— Locale Destination — It’s on 2nd St and Minna St in San Francisco(SOMA). There’re tons of tall buildings around here and right by the famous shopping area around Union square park. They got several locations. This one was pretty small. Once you get in the place, all they have is a little counter. There’s no space for sitting down. TO-GO only. I’m not sure about other locations because this was my first time to try this. You can use credit cards here. Service is quick. — Gluttony Expedition — Organic spit pea soup: Nice mild taste. Very thick, but not creamy(I don’t think it contains daily — that’s what I meant). Lots of vegetable chunks in it. Not bad! But I think it’s not hot enough.(temperature) I recommend to reheat it at home. It would taste better. — Conqueror’s Deduction — This is what’s happening every time I go to SF. I walk a lot, take tons of pics, eat a lot, and my tummy gets not so happy. This was the last day in SF and my tummy needed something mild to sooth it. So I thought the soup would do the work. That’s why I didn’t choose the popular ones like Mexican chicken tortilla soup… Not bad for a quick bite. Small size is good for me. $ 5 seems a bit expensive but SF seems a bit more expensive than LA in general…

This walkup counter is a solid option for daily lunch — you’ll often encounter a line out the door but don’t be discouraged, because really, there’s nowhere else to wait but outdoors. The line moves quickly. The cashier’s partner-in-crime who calls out and preps the orders is curiously rushed when asking to take orders(you’ll have scarcely finished ordering and she’s already asking the next person in line what kind of soup they want) and I’ve always wondered what the hurry was… but yesterday when I dined here yet again, she was noticeably absent and the line moved at a glacial pace. I hope she just had the day off and hasn’t left SF Soup Co. for good. I usually stick to the Southwestern Corn Chowder or Middle Eastern Lentil since they’re consistent classics, but there are about 10 soups total to choose from.

I love soup… I could live off of it. So I’m glad I found San Francisco Soup Company. Not a far walk from work, a great quick lunch to bring back to the office. The first time I went they ran out of my first choice(literally the person in front of me got the last bowl, bummer) but they had so many great choices my second option wasn’t a disappointment. I got the chicken tortilla and it was wonderful. I also ordered a half hummus wrap which was surprisingly better than I was expecting. I have also had the turkey chili, great flavor, but wasn’t a huge fan of the consistency. a bit too mushy for me. A nice warm, tasty meal on a chilly San Francisco day.

I’m not much of a soup gal, but the Mexican chicken tortilla soup at this place is enough to make me rethink my lunch preferences! After Jane K from NYC sang its praises recently, I had to see what the fuss was all about. I knew it was a good sign when I saw a long line winding out the door of this tiny little outlet on 2nd(there are several other locations as well), and every single person in front of me ordered the tortilla soup. The service was quick if a bit brusque, but you know what they say… the brusque make the best bisque! Actually no one says that. I just made it up, but pretty catchy, right? Anyway, the tortilla soup lived up to the hype. I was worried that the regular size wouldn’t be enough for a full lunch, but that little bowl is one hearty serving that will stick to your bones! I loved all the toppings including fresh cilantro. Next time I think I might ask for the tortilla strips on the side so that I can have it crispy in my soup, but other than that it was pretty darn near perfect. ¡Viva la Mexican Chicken Tortilla!

I had the Mexican Chicken Tortilla and it was awesome. The line outside was pretty long but it moved at an incredibly fast pace. The other stuff on the menu looked awesome too. This place is going to be a weekly stop from now on.

Tiny, I mean TINY location right on 2nd street and Jessie — Come here if you’re close by and don’t want the walk to Folsom or Crocker Galleria. Cons: Because it’s tiny, no freshly tossed salads, only small sized prepacked salads in the fridge. Also a variety of half sandwiches. Pros: Quick service, variety of drinks available, bottled water. They were doing a LivingSocial promo — Large Soup, ½ sandwich/salad, and drink for only $ 1 so the lines were CRAZY! Down the entire block! But it has died down, so don’t stay away. Good runner up when Soup Freaks wait is too long.

Great selection of soups! About 5.00 for a regular bowl of soup. Comes with a piece of bread. What I love about the soup is that is chunky and has wonderful flavors. Some of my favs include crab bisque, clam chowder, organic tomato bisque, and crab and corn! They have different specials daily, but always offer their signatures. Only con: The store is quite small and offers no tables to eat at. Great for a cold day!

I had a filling drilled into one of my teeth this morning and by lunchtime, my mouth was still numb & slightly sore. It was a soup-for-lunch kind of day. I don’t know of any good soup places around here so I settled for the SFSC. I tried the Southwest Corn Chowder. It was good, not great, but it filled me up & I didn’t have to crunch down on anything. The Chicken Tikka Masala soup smelled really good(it overpowered every other soup smell) so maybe I’ll try that next time. I couldn’t really get past seeing the employee plop a big bag of soup on the counter, slice it open, & pour it into the soup warmer. Not that it surprised me, I just would rather have the thought that each soup was made lovingly by some little old lady in the back of the shop.

As a small hole in the wall with the trappings of a more rich establishment, it’s a good place to get lunch. I usually get the tomato bisque or the New England Clam Chowder. It’s filling enough. You can maybe it one day a week without getting too sick of soup for lunch. Prepare for long lunch lines during the weekday right around noon. However, I was saddened to see it go up a few cents every two weeks when I was there. I didn’t know what was up with that. It was very strange.

I’m a fan of SF Soup CO. They have some pretty tasty soups and they are close by. I love their Pork Chile Verde, the pork is yummy and juicy, the broth is spicy and tastes like tomatillos. Its a very interesting and different soup. Also a fan of the Creole Crab and Corn and the Lobster Bisque. I wish SF Soup Co wasn’t AS expensive and I will knock them for running out of yummy fresh bread MORE than once. I am not paying close to $ 5 for a small cup of soup that comes with NOBREAD. Other than that, hits the spot when you need a soup day.

Yummy, yummy, yummy, I’ve got soup in my tummy! The bf and I recently had SF Soup Company’s Creole Crab and Corn Soup and it was DELICIOUS! Well balanced seasoning, delicious and still«crisp» corn, with just the right amount of creaminess that was not the least bit overwhelming. Our only suggestion would be to have lump crab to get a more full flavor and texture. I wish I had a big bowl right now! :)

I don’t love soup for lunch, but every once in a while I swing by here for fast, warm sustenance on a chilly SF day. Today I went with a large Turkey Chili, which, with a slice of baguette for $ 6.75 seems like a reasonable but not amazing deal. The chili flavor is good, though I prefer some beans and veggies(this was basically meat and sauce) in my chili. I’ve also tasted a couple of the other soups(usually the heavier ones) and enjoyed those fine too. Overall it’s fast, consistent and nearby, so I’ll be back the next time my soup quota needs filling.
