Place to come for fresh, delicious seafood! There will be a wait as they don’t take reservations but even if they say 20min, it’s usually around 10min and you can get a drink in the bar(if you can find a seat). The views in the restaurant are pretty decent even if you are in a corner. Great for date, families, business — pretty much everything. They have been around since the 60’s so they have a bit of that old school attitude — they got a way to do things — so they gonna do it. Order off the classic menu to be blown away– the ciopinno is the best I’ve ever had! Incredibly delicious, rich broth is piled high with some of the freshest seafood around(check out their fish dock across the street) huge prawns, hunks of fish, clams, mussels, calamari, and if that wasn’t enough, a healthy dose of amazing crab! There is enough for 2 to share but one very hungry eater could stuff themselves into a coma. The halibut is fantastic — tender, moist, clean, fresh, delicious! I would recommend for a party of 2 — start with the appetizer trio: calamari, scallops wrapped with bacon, and crab cakes. Split the ciopinno and maybe try a side of the buttery spazzo. Finish with either the light cannoli or gelato. Try to control yourself with the sour dough bread — it will fill you up!

When in San Francisco you must eat cioppino, and if you’re eating cioppino go to Scoma’s. It’s a little pricey, but well worth it. It’s full of a medley of seafood topped with crab meat(the real stuff). I prefer less salt, so I’m pleased that the sauce isn’t overly seasoned. They have salt at the table. In the past I was tempted to save a few bucks and get cioppino at nearby restaurants along Fisherman’s Wharf. No Bueno. Seriously not comparable. Long wait time if you don’t make reservations. I called at 10:30am and barely got an 8:45pm reservation for a table of 4 on a Wednesday night.

Scoma’s is an old school rat-pack playin’, cocktail slingin’, crab cookin’ restaurant and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is also expensive and impossible to get a reservation. I walked in here at 11am on a Friday and ate at the bar. By the time I left it was PACKED. I also wanted a fancy lunch, and man alive did they deliver. First thing I saw was a barrel aged old fashioned flight paired with candied fruits. Amazing. Cup of clam chowder? Didn’t knock my socks off but it was good. Dungeness Crab Thermidor? Totally amazing. Giant fleshy chunks of crab meat in an amazing sauce baked in the body of my crab — just how I like it. And for desert I had the best cannoli I have ever had in my life. And this is coming from a guy from NY and there are a LOT of Italian bakeries that I have been to. This was the lightest, freshest, crispiest cannoli I have ever had. Totally amazing. If you are in SF walk down Al Scoma way and get yourself some damn fine food.

I had lunch here with my family while on vacation. Pros: — the server was very nice — the clam chowder was awesome(highly recommended) — the calamari was very good and perfectly cooked(unlike restaurant Fior d’Italia, which their calamari was like rubber) — the cioppino, crab thermidor and fettuccini were all good — asked if anyone had a food allergy Cons: — the restaurant is very good and, therefore, understandably busy – I would recommend making a reservation — the beverage service was subpar, for a restaurant of this level – they did not notice that the glasses of lemonade and Coke were empty(so they didn’t offer to refill or bring another one)

Loved it here! my kind of place. Very high end drinks and food. Amazing seafood dishes and professional staff. The restaurant is right on the water yet off the beaten path of the Warf. Seemed to be a ton of regulars and since we went on mothers day you could tell it was a place people respected enough to go on a special occasion. I would eat here again in a heart beat.

I’ve been once. Just the other night. But I’m hooked! Scoma’s was an accidental find for us. My husband and I came out of one of our favorite attractions on the wharf(SF Dungeon) and we were going to go to an Asian place, but they were closed. We didn’t want to go to one of the many spots at Fisherman’s Wharf. We both had had our fill of that when we were kids. So we decided to head down towards the Maritime Museum to see what we could see. Down an unpretentious alley was a sign…“Scoma’s since 1965″. Really! Neither one of us had heard of it before. It looked like an adventure just to walk there, so off we go! We were greeted at the door and welcomed in. The hostess at the front of the house let us know that we could«wait about 15 minutes for a table or sit right away at the bar and order dinner there. Steve will take good care of you.» Bar it is! What a great choice. Instant seating. Menus given to us right away. We didn’t see many rum drinks on the cocktail menu and asked Steve what he could do about that. He fixed us up with what he called«The Don» because it was made with Don Q rum. Delicious! My husband found the perfect dinner for us, although it is really an appetizer for two. We had bacon wrapped scallops, calamari frites and crab cakes. We also asked if we could have a basket of sour dough bread(you can’t leave San Francisco Wharf district without having some sour dough!). What a meal! The scallops were like butter in my mouth! No fishy taste that I could detect and they were absolutely the most perfectly cooked scallops. What a joy to eat! The crab cakes were also very delicious. Not dry, not over seasoned with anything. The crab was easily detected and the cakes were a generous size. Then there was a mini mountain of calamari and 4 sauces to dip them into. We mixed, matched, compared and totally wiped out every spec of food. We didn’t remember to do food porn until we were sitting back, staving off a food coma and realized… oh man! There’s nothing left! So we took a picture of that. You know the food is good when you’re into to that instead of taking pictures of it! Talking to Steve and another bar tender, we discovered that just at 6PM that very evening, you could get a Moscow Mule on tap. ONTAP! It’s a very new thing that will soon be available at the Hilton Hotels, but we could get one that night! So yes, we’ll take one please! I’ve not had Vodka before except once when I was about 15 and it was from a bottle. I’ve stayed away from it ever since. This was different though. It’s mixed with fresh lime juice and a few other ingredients(I think Top Hat Ginger Beer is one of them) and it was really really good. Served in super cute copper cups that keep your drink cold and keeps getting colder. The restaurant is clean. Well kept up. Décor is simple but refined. It’s like stepping into a part of the ’60’s that had some class. We had such a good time here. The conversation, the food, the drinks. A little pricy for us, but so very much worth it. Special occasions will be even more special. Happy Birthdays even happier! Romantic rendezvous even more romantic. We’ll be back.

Okay, this place is a bit pricey but well worth what you pay. I have to add that all of my previous reviews should be downgraded by at least 1 star since I can’t give this one 8 stars. It is off the beaten path down what feels like an old alley in a San Francisco from a previous era. My Jane and I had just left the dungeon San Francisco and had planned on eating at Fei Kitchen but thankfully they were closed. We will try them another day. We walked away from the warf towards the maritime museum to see what we could find that was not so touristy. About a block down on the water side Jane spotted Scoma’s down the pier. It didn’t take any coaxing from her to get me to check it out and before we knew it we were having a great time! Once inside we were greeted and told about 15 or 20 minute wait for a table, we could wait at the bar or have dinner there right away. We chose the bar. That was a good choice. Steve our bartender wasted no time helping us settle in and giving us menus. Everything sounded great but we’re not big eaters late evenings and usually share everything so we ordered an appetizer for two which included Calamari Frittes, Crab Cakes and Bacon Wrapped Scallops. This is a meal, trust me. I’ve had great scallops and horrible scallops, these were the best ever, perfect was my thought. Crab cakes, excellent, Calamari, tender with just the right crunch and delicious. We asked Steve what he recommended for a rum drink and he said a Don was a good one so we ordered two and he was right. Don Q Rum with lime and a little simple syrup and it was amazing. Jane asked about a curious line up of copper mugs along the window sill and he told us they were for Moscow Mules, a drink made with Vodka, Ginger Brew and Lime. The copper mug keeps the drink colder than glass. Well another bartender came in while Steve was on break and told us more about the Moscow Mule. It is now on tap! We decided to split one. This is a drink I would highly recommend. Cold, refreshing and WOW. So this all adds up to great food, fantastic service and a lot of fun. Even better is that this was a quiet place we could easily talk to each other the bartender and hear the jazz softly playing along. The restaurant was incredibly clean and comfortable. Everyone here obviously cares about the overall experience of the customers. It feels like waling into a high end 60s restaurant with cozy ding areas spread around to keep the intimate feeling. How pricey you ask? With a well deserved tip this was a $ 90. meal. I’m generally frugal and that is quite a bit of money for appetizers and a few drinks but I stand by my opener«Well worth what you pay» I will never forget what a wonderful place this is and how Jane and I had so much fun. We will be back soon and trying more of the delights at Scoma’s. Thank you guys!!!

Scomas came very highly recommended by many people while we were in SF. Cute little restaurant on the pier with great service! We started with the clam chowder which was absolutely delicious and hearty. My friend and I shared the cioppino which was absolutely heavenly! Big chunks of crab meat, fish, scallops, prawns and calamari served with 2 pieces of crisp garlic toast to dip in the tomato broth! I definitely recommend Scomas and cannot wait to return!

Get the cioppino! Had an early dinner here and made reservations about two hours before we arrived. We arrived right on time for our reservations at 4:30 and there was still a bit of a wait as they prepped our table for three adults and three kids. The table had a great view of the water so that made up for the wait though. We ordered two ciopinnos, seafood pasta, beet salad, amd truffle fries. The ciopinno portion shrunk in size per my sister, although it was still a good size for two people to share. This was my favorite dish. It was full of flavor and seafood and paired well with the buttery bread served alongside the dish. Beet salad was good if you like beets and the truffle fries were truffle flavored. Then seafood pasta was okay but nothing to brag about. It was a bit too rich to my liking and heavy in cream. Definitely go for the ciopinno. They give out the recipe and we’ve tried to make ciopinno at home but it was just not the same at all. Service was very attentive and everyone was very pleasant. Staff here is definitely of the older generation so they’re seasoned workers that were really great. Family friendly restaurant located along the waters with valet parking.

Scomas is the restaurant you bring good people to. It is the right atmosphere, right place, and always the right time. When I first entered I felt such a good vibe. It felt as if I travelled to a time where you could slow down, disconnect from technology, carry on great conversations, and most of all enjoy a great meal. The bread was probably my least favorite. It made me cough the whole time I was eating it. Thankfully I didn’t stuff myself before my main course. My sister is allergic to salmon but really wanted to try the grilled seafood plate. The waiter did say it was OK to switch out the fish for extra butter fish. That was an A++ because other restaurants don’t substitute because it is pre cut according to meals. My other sister decided to do the seafood grill with butter fish, salmon, swordfish from san diego and 3 pieces of large shrimp with black rice from Italy. I decided to have the halibut with watsonville artichokes and German spaetzle. All of this dishes was to die for. The way the prepared it from start to finish was amazing! I can not wait to go back and have a great time. I appreciated all the fine detail of scomas!

Eating at a restaurant in Pier 39 is a rare treat for me. I’ve done it less than a handful of times my entire life despite being born and raised in San Francisco. Since Dungeness crab season is here and the Crab fisherman are directly located next to Scoma’s, it doesn’t get any fresher. We started the meal with: Clam Chowder: it’s not my favorite chowder but it wasn’t bad either. I just don’t prefer a dairy based chowder and on top of that it lacked bits of clam. Calamari: I thought the calamari was simple and good quality. A large enough portion for two people to share. Crab Thermidor: which is is a French dish consisting of a creamy mixture of cooked Dungeness crab meat, egg yolks, stuffed into a crab shell. It can also be served with an oven-browned cheese crust. A nice way to prepare the crab. The Swiss chard sautéed on the side was delicious. The service was great and extremely helpful and friendly. I’d definitely go back for fresh seafood if I’m at Pier 39.

Prawn Annuzzi and unintimidating salad. The service was exceptional and I felt very comfortable there. It’s a very classy place and I wanted to try the place before I left. Sooo I’m giving it three stars. I almost want to give it four but I wasn’t impressed with the flavor(or lack thereof of the prawns. The pasta was tender and I substituted the pasta option for linguini. However I have also had amazing pasta in Italy and literally up the street from this place. The bread was great — sourdough and moist. Some of the issue I had with the dish is that it was served with asparagus. I’m not sure how I missed that — however I am willing to give it another go tomorrow & order something other folks ranted and raved about… Like the clam chowder … Or orecchiette :(. The salad was delectable lightly dressed with oil and citrus vinaigrette.

This place was recommended by a colleague. I’m glad I took the tip and booked a reservation before even leaving for San Francisco(came from Iowa). We spent a couple of hours exploring Fisherman’s Warf before our reserved dinner time. When we got to the sign pointing us down an alley to get to Scoma’s I was wondering if this could really be the right place. We continued towards the restaurant and were seated immediately. The décor is older and appropriate for a fine dining experience on a pier. We quickly realized that the service was top notch, the drinks were great, and then the food started arriving. I’ve never had scallops prepared so perfectly and the shrimp and lobster were outstanding as well. The bread on the table was delicious with a perfect crust. The beet salad was amazing. The lobster bisque and my wife’s clam chowder were delicious. This will be a MUSTDO for us anytime we’re back in SF.

What a nice late lunch for 6 on a sat afternoon. Thus is a quality long standing restaurant with facing the bay with one of the few remaining fishing boats parked right outside it, near the valet parked cars! Service is outstanding, calamari, crab cakes, clam chowder and lobster bisque made for a good starter. Main meals of half crab half shrimp, mixed seafood, mixed grill, wild salmon, swordfish were outstanding. Cappuccino, tiramisu and 6 layer torta were sinfully tasty. This is the second time I take visitors here. Top tier, guaranteed satisfaction.

On the wharf, great seafood, classic dining. Everybody eats there when they come to SF, and they should! the only thing better than the food was the view-right on the water. I love seafood and being from Maryland I can be tough on it, but Scoma’s was great. A little pricey but worth it. If you are visiting or live there you should go. Classic seafood at a place your grandpa would love-and you too.

On the recommendation of one of San Francisco’s finest, we chose Scoma’s for our last dinner in town. It was a wonderful experience. The«old school» atmosphere includes paneling walls covered with celebrity and sports figure head shots and movie stills. From our table, we could see Telly Savalas, Buddy Ebsen, and Jack Nicholson. Jack Scalia has his own wall. Great fun to look at them all and read the inscriptions. Our server, Han Min was knowledgable and friendly. We started with clam chowder and I also had the roasted beet salad. The clam chowder was thick and full of clams. No watered down broth here! Salad was full of flavor. On Min Han’s recommendation, we chose the Pacific Sole and paired it with a Sauvignon Blanc. Perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and simply delicious. The warm bread was also hearty and tasty. We finished it off with Tiramisu. Yum! I highly recommend making a reservation through Open Table. We were there early on a Monday evening, and the place was packed. It’s a nice walk down the dock and away from the touristy area along Jefferson. What a great, nostalgic gem!

Great find right on the bay! Unfortunately there’s no view from the main dining area, but the bar has a view out to the Golden Gate. The only other small downside is that the servers seem to kind of rush you through your choices. Everything else was great! I loved the King Estate Pinot Gris from Oregon — amazing! I normally only really like Sauvignon Blanc, but this was a great find. The food was really great too — oysters to start, and some nice filets in a lemon beurre blanc sauce. They even let me get polenta instead of the usual side! Yum. The dessert wine list is great, too. And the pistachio gelato was yummy. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Every time my girlfriend and I visit San Francisco we stop at Scomas. Its our favorite restaurant in the wharf area where everything else seems to be a tourist trap or too commercialized. Scoma’s atmosphere is nice but it’s also a little bit more laid back than you might expect from a restaurant on the water. There dishes are nice and they have wine on tap which I thought was pretty cool. I recommend the clam chowder, calamari, and their scallops. Pair this with a bottle of Hitching Post wine and you will have a great night.

I have been coming here since I was a little kid. Of course back then I would split a burger with my brother and eat the olives from my Dad’s martinis. Now as an adult I can appreciate how good their seafood is. Brought my Boston family here over the weekend and had a wonderful dinner! The calamari was to die for. The clam chowder was heaven. The swordfish melted in our mouths. The beet salad was on point. Bottom line: everything was amazing down to the house made sourdough bread. My cousin got the oysters Rockefeller. Oysters aren’t my thing but she said they were intensely rich and good. Our drinks were also super yummy. Got some bloody Mary’s with our apps and then moved on to white wine with dinner. Our waitress was very sweet and super informative about the menu. We had a blast and my family from the East Coast was very pleased with the California sea food. Making my man take me here soon. :)

I came here a few months ago with my girlfriend for a nice lunch date in the city. I heard about this place from my boss who told me it was the perfect spot for a nice date so we decided to give it a shot. Ambiance: I absolutely love this place because of how relaxing and calm it was. I was pleasantly surprised at how peaceful it was in the restaurant compared to the rest of the pier which was packed, loud and busy on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. Upon arrival we were told that the wait for a table would be about 30 minutes so we put our names down and went outside to hang out for a bit. Scoma’s is right on the edge of the pier so there is plenty to see and do while you wait for your table. The view is absolutely beautiful and the wait is not an issue at all in the middle of the summer when the skies are clear. The inside of the restaurant is very classy and old school. Hardwood, white cloth tables and a beautiful view of the ocean give this place a real classy and old school feel to it. Food: My girlfriend and I ordered the Oysters A la Scomma, The Shrimp and Crab Cake Salad and Gulf Shrimp Pastina. The food was absolutely amazing and worth every dollar we paid for it. The fried oysters were nicely fried without being too overcooked and topped with tar tar sauce. The Shrimp and Crab Cake Salad was huge and packed with fresh vegetables and delicious seafood. My gulf shrimp pastina was simple but delicious and very flavorful. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality and freshness go into the seafood and other ingredients here. I absolutely loved my meal here and can’t wait to come back here again. Service: Service is absolutely top notch. Our waiter was very polite, friendly and helpful with our questions. He was quick with any of our requests and checked in regularly without being too annoying. The servers here make a real effort to ensure you are taken care of throughout the meal by regularly refiling your bread, replacing your plates/silverware and taking care of any requests you make. Overall Experience: I greatly enjoyed my meal here at Scoma’s and I believe it was worth every penny I paid. I would recommend that anyone try this restaurant despite how pricey it may seem.

Down a nondescript alley in Fisherman’s Wharf sits a famed San Francisco dining landmark that has been in operation for 50 years. Scoma’s Restaurant — located at its own private dock on the water — specializes in fresh, sustainable seafood. This family-owned and operated restaurant compiles with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program, whose mission is to «empower consumers and businesses to make choices for a healthy ocean.» Butternut Squash Soup($ 6/cup, $ 8/bowl) While an unlikely start at a seafood restaurant, the Butternut Squash Soup is an absolute must. This healthy, vegan option is a creamy purée of butternut squash topped with fall vegetable, lemon zest, and crispy sage with a drizzle of olive oil on top. You will be licking the bowl to get the last bit of this amazing soup. Spinach Salad($ 11) and Beet Salad($ 9) The refreshing duo of the Blomsdale ‘Curly’ Spinach Salad and the Organic Roasted Beet Salad is the perfect way to ramp up your appetite. The fresh spinach is tossed in aged balsamic vinaigrette with warm, crispy polenta croutons, spring onion tops, garden herbs, and shaved parmesan, while the salt roasted red and golden beets are complemented by creamy avocado slices and orange with a drizzle of aged balsamic and fresh, grated horseradish. Grilled Wild King Salmon($ 34) and Seared Atlantic Cod($ 32) The entrees highlight fresh, local, and seasonal seafood. The Grilled Wild King Salmon is topped with lightly fried, julienne zucchini with sweet corn underneath. I have been coming to Scoma’s for years. The seafood has been consistently the best in San Francisco. Its been a couple of years since I have been back, and things have really changed. The prices were up significantly and the food quality and quantity were different. This has been our go to place several times during our visits to San Francisco. NOMORE. Corporate america has creeped into Scoma’s with changes to the Crab Salad(price and quality). The carrots were unpeeled and with root hairs. The Lazy man’s Cioppino was half the size and the quantity of seafood much diminished. No penne pasta or breadsticks were available as a side. The bread was different. Less crusty. The service was amazing as always. Great staff who apologized for the carrots and difference in the food. I will probably try it one more time, but I am hesitant after this experience.

Came here for our 6 yr anniversary. I love seafood but it’s not the first thing my boyfriend thinks of for dinner but he’s a trooper :) I ordered the lazy man’s cioppino… the seafood itself was VERY fresh so of course I loved that. The waitress said it had just come in from San Diego that day. The sauce tasted like regular red spaghetti sauce. I thought it could have used some bay seasoning or broth from the boiled clams to give it more of a seafood taste. That fish was $ 39 but I think I would have comfortably paid $ 20-$ 27. My boyfriend thought he could order a niceI’m steak with seafood on the side but unfortunately there was only 1 red meat option on the menu so he went for the fried seafood platter. It came with fried scallops, shrimp and cod. Overall out bill was $ 95 since I ordered a blue moon. We enjoyed ourselves but would have loved to see a few more red meats on the menu.

The location and ambience can be attractive to some but the quality of food is not good, especially considering the price it was sold at. I would not recommend this place. The(recommended) Cioppino was among the worst I have ever had, just some boiled fish pieces threw into a lukewarm tomato sauce. The linguine with clams was equally unappetizing, we left most of it in the plate.

Scoma’s is located on the waterfront of Pier 47, with view of the ferry terminal on one side, and if you sit outside, you can probably catch a view of San Francisco too. We sat indoors. Most people were dressed casually, so it is not a fancy place. The food was really good! We had mussels for starters, grilled halibut, and patrol sole for main course. Both dishes were excellent and super tasty. New England clam chowder definitely hit the spot. For dessert, we had homemade blueberry gelato and sorbet. This is a very nice restaurant with amazing food. Highly recommended if you have to find dinner in San Francisco!

First of all, I really hate going to Fisherman’s Wharf because of all the tourists. But when a friend asked if we’d be interested in visiting them, we opted to come so we could see some familiar faces. First, free valet is a huge bonus. Just pull up the alley way and they’ll take care of the rest. Super convenient if you want to walk around Fisherman’s Wharf afterwards and deal with the horrible crowds without having to worry about the hassle of parking. First, make reservations. We came at 5pm and it was already swarming with people. The service is great. Although it’s considered $$$, don’t worry about dressing up. There were plenty of tourists who were dressing down. They serve cold sourdough bread with warm butter as an opener. The clam chowder was good, but nothing to rave home about. The«cup» portion is very small, but is a good opener if you don’t want to get too full before your main course comes. The braised short ribs were delicious, but the portions could have been heartier. It’s served over a bed of mashed potatoes, which were not super creamy. It comes with a side of mushrooms and veggies. There’s also the gulf shrimp pastina. This is essentially(to me), couscous with butter, herbs, garlic and plenty of shrimp. I believe some crunch bread crumbs are mixed in for a good crunchy texture. Overall, quite light but nothing to rave home about. Overall, the food was solid. I’m not sure I’d come back, but certainly wasn’t disappointed.

Normally I avoid this area like the plague. It’s for the tourists, and they can have it. However Scoma’s has always been on my list to try(I grew up listening to 960KABL, and one of the djs always talked about it). I finally found myself there this week when I was trying to escape traffic for a bit and see if they have decorated the waterfront for Christmas. You have to walk down an alley to get to it. Just keep walking and you will see the restaurant eventually. :) It is quite beautiful inside, pretty much exactly how I always thought it would look. It looks like it would be perfect for a date or special occasion. My cocktail had ice shards in it. For the price point that is inexcusable. Come on Scoma’s, give your bartenders fine strainers. Or maybe he just didn’t use it. Either way, not good. On that note, the bartender was just not likeable. The words I would use to describe him are not words I want to use to describe someone in print, but if I saw him behind the bar again I would not stay. There were some serious issues with the kitchen. Dishes weren’t coming out together, items were missing from plates, and some of it… just didn’t look that good. Maybe it was an off night for everyone, but I doubt I will ever return. Maybe I’ll try the one in Sausalito though, I still want to trust that KABL picked really good sponsors worth checking out.

Once again, I’ve been eating here for many years! I’ve also eaten at some of the other fish houses on or near the wharf yet I keep coming back to Scomas! The selection is great, cooked to perfection! Ask your wait staff if there’s anything cooking off menu? The views are some of the best, as it sits alone out on the wharf. The wait staff & service do a solid job, wine and beer selection is fine as well. I guess if there were one thing negative to mention, that would be price! It’s a bit steep as most on the wharf are, your paying for the view, hopefully you’ll have one? Average meal for 2, entrees, salad or soup, not included, a drink, after dinner coffee & no desert, $ 150.00 range with tax & tip. A 4 ½ our of 5 stars

Do make them because this place gets busy. We shared a caesar salad for app and it was fresh. Dressing was tasty, and sourdough croutons were perfect. Very crispy. Loved those! For mains, we had the Ciopinno(traditional seafood stew) and grilled Sole. Both were excellent. I found flavor and seasoning to be just right. So on food, Scoma’s satisified our expectations. Service was a bit slow for a restaurant of this caliber. I would have liked to seen better coordination and attention. Other than the above, you’ll definitely enjoy the food here. Also, we went at night, but I believe waterviews at lunch time should make your visit even more enjoyable. Happy eatin’

Hailey B and I ate here together, even though she had just done so in the same week. I was like«That’s nice, go again». Well luckily she had no qualms with that and she even suggested some personal and family faves. We started with the beet salad. I know when people hear«beet salad» they think, «Ugh wtf, dirty cold vegetables. Nope and nope», but that’s just ig’nant. This perfectly balanced, fresh, and mouthwatering salad consisted of: salt roasted red & golden beets, avocado, orange, aged balsamic & fresh horseradish. I recommend it, and the serving size is generous and great for sharing! After literally breaking a sweat over trying to decide what dish I wanted, I chose the Cioppino(Crab, Shrimp, Sea Scallops, Clams, Mussels, Fresh Fish, Calamari Served in «Mama» Scoma’s Rich Tomato Broth). So I have G.E.R.D(ugh, such a funny word, GERD!), and acidic/tomato-y dishes make my body sad, but dear lord this was worth the sleepless burpy night. The calamari was the best I have ever had in my entire life — extremely tender and meaty. Same with the mussels. And the scallops. And shrimp. Oh hell, every ingredient in the Cioppino was spectacular. What a great meal to scarf on the wharf(just pretend that rhymes, thanks).

Came here with my parents and they really enjoyed it and complimented how fresh the seafood was We got oysters which were really fresh i usually pass on oysters but these were good ~ The lazy man cioppino: its a nice tomato broth with all kinds of seafood. Im usually not into tomato things much but this was great. It looked small at first but was more than enough for 3 of us . Finally got the crab with garlic. There was a lot of garlic on it but i personally love the garlic-y taste so it was great and it was easy to break and eat . Overall enjoyed the food. Service was ok.

Scoma’s on Fishermans Wharf. In our opinion it’s the best restaurant in the area. We’ve visited many times and have never been disappointed. And so it is that on our recent trip to Fishermans Wharf we find ourselves here again. As we waited for a table we sat at the bar. I ordered an extra dry Grey Goose martini, stirred to the count of ten, served«up» with a single olive. The Mrs happily procured a Cosmopolitan. As always the cocktails were spot on thanks to the efforts of our bartender Candace. Seriously perfect libations. After ten minutes at the bar we move to our table. Soon after being seated at our crisp white tablecloth cloaked table«Kingman» brought us sourdough bread, butter, and glasses of water. A couple bites into the bread and our waiter«David» came to take our appetizer order. We went with the Rockefeller inspired oysters. Oops, my martini had gone dry but David remedied that in short order. The oysters showed up quickly. Served hot and bubbly. As always we found the oysters were cooked perfectly, with lots of cheesy, garlicky goodness. Decadent morsels of perfection. Next up the entrees. Linguine and clams for me and Pappardelle bolognese for the Mrs. Both entrees made it to the table hot, cooked to perfection and mouthwatering. My dish had an obscene amount of clams and an equally obscene amount of flavor! So tasty with lots of perfectly cooked pasta and amazing sauce. The Mrs was equally happy with her pasta and flavorful meat sauce. But did we stop with the fantastic drinks, awesome oysters, and killer entrees? Nope. Desert beckoned of course. So, Cannoli alla Siciliana was a necessity. Along with two coffees. The Cannoli were light, delicious, and served with pistachios. Crazy good. It is with great pleasure that my 100th Unilocal review goes to one of our all time favorite restaurants. And I’m so glad that after all these years I can honestly give Scoma’s a solid Five Stars.

Came here for a company happy hour last week — which was my second time here. This place is hard for me to rate because i really do not like seafood that much. The first time I came here with my dad I ordered a pasta dish with chicken which was great. This time my coworkers and I ordered the Rosé which was very light, crisp and refreshing. We then ordered 2 of the Hot Sampler Trios for Two. This included Calamari Fritti, Shrimp Scampi, and Crabcakes. Can’t say I loved any of these apps but I can tell that they are all very good quality seafood and really yummy(for people who enjoy seafood). We also ordered the Truffle Fries and thank god we did because they were so unique and so good! Safe to say that I filled up on these fries as well as the bread and butter that the waiter brought out. Great spot in Fisherman’s Wharf on the water.

Perfection to it’s max! My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon. We wanted to have a nice lunch at the Pier and we found this place on Unilocal.Scoma’s is located behind the strip so you have to follow the signs to get there. It is on the edge of the Pier so you get a perfect view of the beautiful ocean. We parked at a parking lot outside of this restaurant and if we knew we would come here for lunch, we would’ve parked here instead. Upon arrival, we were told the wait would be about 30 minutes. While waiting, there is a deck outside where there is a beautiful scenery of the ocean with boats and seals. We received a text about 30 minutes later when our table was ready. The ambiance inside was so nice! I felt like we were dining inside a boat and it was so calming. Even though it was busy and tables were all filled, it was so peaceful and makes you feel very intimate. The service was excellent. The waiters replaced our plates after each course and checked on us frequently without being overbearing. The complimentary bread was baked well. We ordered ½ dozen of fried oysters for appetizers. It was very delicious and fried perfectly. Not too much grease and goes well with the tartar sauce and lemon. I ordered Shrimp and Crab cake salad which is on the lunch menu til 3pm. The Shrimp and Crab cake was very good and just enough Citrus Vinaigrette for my salad. My boyfriend ordered the Gulf Shrimp Pastina. That was very excellent as well! All of the seafood tasted very fresh. Although Scoma’s is a bit on the pricier side, you get what you pay for! Excellent food, service, and ambiance. I cannot wait to come back to try their other dishes! Perfect date spot or for a special occasion!

My boyfriend and I had just landed in SF, it was a gorgeous evening and we were craving fresh seafood on the wharf before heading up to Napa. With so many restaurants to choose from {many having great Unilocal reviews}, we had no idea where to begin! So we called my dad {a serious world traveler and major foodie} and without even a pause, he said«GOTOSCOMA’S!». Well, there was the answer that we were looking for! They were quite busy on a Friday night but we scored a cute table for two with a water view in their bar which is first come, first serve seating. I ordered the Napa local St. Francis Chardonnay {on tap!} and it was amazing. Their fabulous sourdough bread was to die for {shhh, we even asked for seconds). Truth be told, their beet salad may have been my favorite thing that night. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! It had red and golden beets, oranges, avocados, fresh mint, fresh shaved horseradish {the best part} & was drizzled with olive oil & balsamic. YUM. For my entrée, I was craving scallops, shrimp and pasta in a light wine sauce. They created a wonderful masterpiece! As usual, my dad was not wrong, we loved this place and will definitely be back the next time we’re in SF!

I am a local and over the years I have tried many of the local restaurants at the wharf. There are many good ones, but when it comes to fresh and tasty seafood that is consistently done right Scoma’s is one of the best. We started with the«Hot Sampler Trio» which is plenty of food for two people. You’ll get to try the Calamari Fritti, Crabcakes and Hobb’s Bacon Wrapped Scallops. They are all tasty, but my goodness, those bacon wrapped scallops are so good, especially if you are having them with a vodka martini like I did! Happy with our first choice, we decided to take a shot at another appetizer and took a shot at the«Steamed Mediterranean Mussels». I won’t be exaggerating if I told you that I have rarely had mussels as tasty and fresh of these; and the sauce … just dip your bread in it and discover the flavors! By this time we were so full that we decided to share an entrée, so what do we do? We go for one of the bigger items on the menu; the«Mixed Seafood Grill» that comes with two or three different pieces of fish, a few shrimps, and one more thing that I do not remember all on a bed of cooked barley. At this point we both felt like two blimps, but that did not stop us from splitting one order of spumoni! Our server Jose was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and had a good sense of humor. I know I will go here again, because I live in the neighborhood, but if you are visiting and craving excellent seafood, Scoma’s is the place to stop.

Was soll ich sagen???

Also: Scoma’s fand ich richtig klasse. Valet Parking.
