I was referred to Mahlon by an Interior Design friend of mine. And what a wonderful referral it was. Mahlon was able to flesh out my designs and built me the most beautiful entertainment center/bookcase/storage center and a separate bookcase that covers an entire wall. The materials, fit and finish and installation were flawless. Mahlon was a joy to work with and I will definitely, absolutely, totally work with him again. I can’t say enough good things about him.

SF Renovations built a ton of custom units for us — an elaborate free standing bookcase, floating bookshelves, a very elaborate set of shelves and drawers as a built-in, simple shelves above the laundry and dresser-like drawers in the closet. All of the work was professional and exceptionally well done. I recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for carpentry work. We are very happy with everything they put together for us!

I had custom bookshelves built into my 1895 Victorian house front room around the fireplace. I was nervous and searched around a lot for a craftsman who would do it right. Needless to say, I was thrilled with the work and thought the owner, Mahlon Morse, was incredible to work with. He listened to what I wanted, kept me in the loop along the way, and was a perfectionist in all the right places with little details and features I didn’t even think of and love to this day. It’s a thrill to work with someone who sees my project as a labor of love. Hands down the best experience I have had with a home project and I would hire and recommend them anytime in a heart beat.

Mahlon Morse is the contractor here. We got a recommendation for him from our architect to do an extensive remodel of our 2100 sq.ft.1909 Edwardian flat. Let me tell you, the place was a freaking dump! My girlfriend described the bathroom as a «jail house bathroom.» The kitchen was non-existent. There was no central heat source. Plumbing barely worked. Electrical so old it was about to go up in flames. You get the picture. Mahlon provided a budget and calendar — both of which he adhered to pretty well. We went over budget but that’s because things came up along the way that were unforeseen — as things do in any building. And they were a few weeks late — but it was almost a 6 month job and there was someone there working almost every day. I only have experience with one other contractor(complete hell — BTW, NEVER do a job by «time and materials». You will get ripped off and age before your time.), so working with Mahlon was a pleasure. His communication skills and follow-up are excellent. Never dodged any phone calls. Always a straight shooter with me. I was on site a lot of the time to help move things along(you know answer questions as things came up…“where exactly do you want the shower hung.”). So I spent a lot of time observing him and his guys. Oh, he has the most fabulous carpenter, Jesus. WOW. We removed some built-ins in the dining room and so had to replace an entire wall with 6 foot tall wainscoting. PERFECT. You would never know it wasn’t original. I think some of his sub-contractors were a little pricey — like the tile and marble guys, and maybe the electrician. I don’t know. But they did do a kick ass job. He’s always been there too for me when I’ve needed follow up on the new HVAC system and to fix a plumbing problem. And even when my foyer light fixture came in weeks and weeks after the job ended, they came back and installed it no charge since it had been included in the original quote — but it was like 4 months later! Anyway, I really liked Mahlon. He has a good way of dealing with hysterical clients(in my defense, I was undergoing some medical treatment at the time which required taking heavy levels of hormones and needless to say I was raving lunatic a few times). But he was totally cool about it. If you give Mahlon a shot at your project, I think you will be very satisfied.(Oh and he speaks a number of languages so you can practice, say, your Italian or Greek with him.)
