Summer’s here and I felt like chopping off my hair last month. I was sick of my long, damaged hair from the digital perm. I was trying to grow out my hair too but there were just too much split ends. My hair was completely dehydrated to the point that not even an oil treatment/leave in conditioner would help. Decided to go to Shear Magic because my roommate came here once to get a haircut — and it turned out amazing for her. Thinking that I could get the same haircut and style, I made a same-day appointment. My stylist, a lady(also owner??) wash, cut, and blow-dry my hair. I didn’t bring a picture with me because I basically just needed to get rid of the damaged parts. I think pretty much everyone who works at Shear Magic is Korean. Knowing that, I was excited that I could at least get a trendy hairstyle that many Korean actresses had. The haircut was okay. Some parts were still permed, so it looked funny when random pieces flipped out. What I liked the most was that she didn’t give me choppy layers. Instead, I got a shoulder-length cut with lotsa bounce/movement. In other words, my hair wasn’t completely flat and boring. Shear Magic needs to remodel or update the salon because the seats are dirty and rusty. They also should get new sets of hair-dryers, combs, and sanitizers. My hairdresser was not talkative at all. Not that I needed to absolutely converse during a hair session, but it was just too awkward to sit in dead silence for 30 minutes while just hearing the sound of scissors going«snip snip snip.» Price: $ 25.00 w/o tip. Don’t think I’m coming back until they have better hygiene.
