Shin Dig

This is late in coming but we had a Thanksgiving Family gathering at ShinDig last year and Shlomo and staff were fantastic. Sorry about the delay in telling everyone that it’s a spectacular venue.

In June, I had the good fortune to connect with the staff at Shin Dig for a work event., a «community conversation.» Event planning is NOT part of my typical responsibilities and not among my top skill sets, so even for our small event (20 guests) I was a ball of stress.
But I quickly realized, I didn’t need to be! Shin Dig took care of the «event» side of things and I was able to focus on securing my guest speaker, coordinating our topic’s main points and connecting with our invited guests.
We ordered outside catering that was delivered in your typical plastic and cardboard platters. But Shin Dig re-​plated the food for a classy casual style that added a touch of polish to our presentation. The A/​V system was simple and easy to access. Guests had a clear view to our videos and the sound was perfect throughout the room.
Without going into to detail, we were dealing with a challenging topic during our conversation. Bue the atmosphere and care provided by Shin Dig helped staff and guests to ease into the conversation and feel comfortable in sharing and discussing sensitive issues. From my perspective, it was an all-​around success. And I was delighted with the space and the helpful staff at Shin Dig!

I can’t emphasize enough how easy it is to host an event here. I do a lot of event planning through my job and venues are usually tricky — lots of rules, lots or restrictions, lots of hidden costs, etc. Shin Dig is different! It is truly a neighborhood venue and the owner is eager to please.
We hosted both a bridal shower and later a seated rehearsal dinner in the space, both were perfect!

I just held my wife’s 50^th birthday party here, and it was fantastic. The service is great, and very easy going to work with. They provide pretty much everything in terms of dishware, service, AV needs and drinks (no food — but you can bring in what you want) –which made me very happy and stress free.
We had about 40 people, and everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves.
I live in the neighborhood, and it felt great to support the shindig venue since the owners are truly my neighbors.

My wife and I had an event here last weekend and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The space is beautiful and the wines were incredible. The management was extraordinarily helpful and flexible and made the entire process very easy. The price for both the wines and venue were surprising reasonable. We selected our own caterer, being able to pick your own caterer is rare for an event space. Shin Dig’s own wine and beer sommeliers (yes, they have both) paired drinks with our menu. Since we spent very little time thinking about our event, we realized that we should offer non-​alcoholic beverages to our guest at the last minute. And Shin Dig was immediately able to provide those beverages for a reasonable fee. Our caterer was not able to help us set up, so Shin Dig staff helped us plate the food at no extra charge. They also served the beverages throughout the event. Another huge convenience was that Shin Dig had platters, plates, glasses, etc. to lend for the event, so the only things necessary for us to bring were the food and choice of music. After the party, all we had to do was collect our belongings and leave. Every aspect of the event was incredibly easy, so we were relaxed when the party started and really enjoyed being with our guests. Everyone told us how much they loved the space and the wines. I have only the highest praise for Shin Dig and cannot wait to plan another event there.

I held a private work event here for 20 guests and can’t wait to work with Shin Dig staff again. Coordination was simple and easy, leaving me the time to focus on our event program. The location is easily accessible and a fun alternative to downtown. And the atmosphere is the perfect balance of class and comfort. If the space fits your needs, why choose anywhere else! Shin Dig is great.

Seems nice enough. I went to the Tilamook farmer’s market which was held there last weekend and the venue seemed a bit cramped for that event. It was hard to get through the «aisles» without knocking over some fancy display or a little old lady tasting cheese.
It seems minimalist in there which is maybe what you want in a venue. Could be very versatile.
I’ll be excited to see what else they use the space for.

I know very little about Shin Dig except that 1) they regularly (a few times a month) obtain SFMTA permits prohibiting street parking on their block (which, come to think of it, is also my block) so that they can park food trucks or offer valet parking for their private events and 2) they have done no outreach, no friendly «heads up» to their neighbors about the impact of their business on us. Please, check in with your fellow business owners (Inner Fog and Martha Brothers spring to mind) on how to be a good neighbor.

About 50 folks came through. Enough seating and standing space for everyone to be comfortable. Large enough table for lots of food to be served, and still room to eat on. Can use their recs for food or bring in any of your own. Great side table for miscellaneous. TV could be used for showing pix; we used it to stream my husband’s favorite movie. Quality sound system for music. Nice, clean restroom for guests. And bonus, the wine storage and décor were beautiful which meant no decorations were needed. Owner treated us like family, very hospitable and made sure any and everything we needed was available (glasses, coat rack, ice, etc).
Completely satisfied.
Highly recommended.
