If you like fat douche bags who won’t let you in the door when the place is completely empty, this is the place for you.

I was looking for a bar in the area and came along this one. Went in with no expectations but came out pretty satisfied. They had NBA games playing on the TV’s(the main reason I was there) and the beer selection is decent. They had a variety of random cocktails as well that sounded good. The bartender was very friendly and made small talk to all of his customers. Seems like a lot of locals come here as the bartender seemed to know a lot of the patrons by name. I would definitely come back here again when I’m in the area. Very low-key setting.

Skylark is my cheers. Its filled with locals and the staff know me by name. In terms of bars, skylark has a variety of cocktails and great beers on draft. The space is large, ample TVs and great music. Almost every night of the week they have some themed party, but shout out to free burlesque/comedy nights on Fridays! While to some, this may be «just another dive» in the mission… The glue that keeps me coming back is the service. Jordan and Dino(who I hear is no longer there, Hi Dino!) are engaging, charismatic bartenders that are quick on their toes. Zero attitude and always keeping your drinks filled with a smile… Something that is hard to come by these days, especially in the mission. Pro tip: happy hour is 4−9pm 7 days a week and they allow outside food. Pupusas next door are life changing.

This is a great place to end up towards the end of a night out in the Mission district. This is a great place to end up when you just want to dance and do not care about anything else. This is a great place to go when you want to walk into a bar that always seems to be a little hazy and fragrant. In all seriousness, Skylark is a decent place to go dance to hip hop music.

Great place for happy hour! Even on weekends! Came here Saturday night to kill time, and the beer was only $ 3 and my mixed drink was at happy hour price too. It is a great dive bar to get the night started. We walked by afterwards and we saw how busy it was. We’ll try it again after 9pm next time.

Fun dive bar with PBR and entertainment on tap! Fun patrons. Bartenders are friendly and fast at slinging great drinks. Check it out Friday nights.

With all the rave reviews, I thought it’d be more fun. The ceiling mermaid is pretty cool, but the extreme hip hop music? no thank you. that cannot be considered as dance music in my world. It gets crowded really quickly, an odd collection of fake hipsters and cocky SoMA/Marina kids. eh. we left early.

Came here on a Tuesday. I don’t remember if there was cover. If there was I think it was $ 5? But you guys know how I hate paying cover for anything. Anyhow, I really liked this place. The bathroom was near to the dance floor in case you had to yak. There was barely anyone there. The music was nice and the drinks a plenty. If I’m in the mission again, and there really is no cover, I’m hopping in!

Skylark is the only dive bar I can rely on for a good time, any day of the week! Discovered this place over a year ago and I haven’t stopped coming. The 2 main bartenders(Dino & Jordan) are humble, friendly and great listener if you need to vent after a long crappy day! They also have one of the best happy hour deals, $ 4 for wine or beer and $ 1 off of cocktails until 9PM daily. And when I’m lucky, I stop by on the day that they play some old school jams or hip hop. People overlooked this place due to the exterior or they think it’s «ghetto» but trust me, it’s spacious inside, drinks are good, bartender are great, and it’s my go-to place after a long day!

Good: location, eclectic crowd(which can be good and bad but I liked that all kinds of people felt welcome there), the music was ok. You remember a good DJ. I won’t remember this one. Bad: $ 5 cover. Really? For this place? The space is not great either, the ceilings are really low so there is not a lot of room to breathe. But the worst part was the bouncers who were so flippin’ rude. They were just cold to me but they were so rude to the group in front of me. I felt like I was trying to get in a den in Hunt’s Point or something.

I’ve been fan of the Skylark for years, mostly because of the eclectic DJs and music they host. I’m a particular fan of the Monday night reggae scene they have going. The DJs like Vinny Ras, et al. spin some awesome classic roots mixed with occasional dub. You gotta smell the iration aroma inside to believe. Best to go with a group of friends to maximize the experience. When inside, take a look around, the old-school façade has been enjoyed by thousands over the decades. Let’s keep this tradition strong!

Went in here a few months ago with some friends for happy hour during the day. The waitress was friendly and made strong drinks. My friends and I were one of the few people in the bar. There is art on the walls and ceilings which makes this a memorable spot! Would definitely come here again. Not sure how the bar is during busy times.

Our go to place when we visit SF. Music on point, they play hip hop/r&b. Drinks are strong and pretty reasonable in price, we drank vodka n cran, I guess the bartender wanted to be super stingy with the cranberry juice. Lol! I didn’t mind at all! It is kinda small and there’s one bathroom for the girls and one for the boys. So when there’s a line it goes out onto the dance floor. And if you go into the guys bathroom, the door doesn’t lock. Lol!!! So bring a friend. All in all its amazeballz!!!

Oh my goodness, I loved the music here! I came here on a Tuesday(random, I know), but it was still so much fun. There were surprisingly a lot of people here for a weeknight, but not to the point that it was super crowded or overwhelming. The people that were here all seemed like regulars and casually seemed like they knew at least one person working there. The bartender was friendly enough, but she got pretty busy and forgot our order at one point. She made it up to us with a super strong drink that she said was on her and I thought that was really nice. Overall, I had a lot of fun here and I’d come back!

Great drinks. Music was on point. Dance floor a definite plus! I came here for the first time with friends on a Friday night and had an absolute BLAST! Me and my boyfriend don’t go often to lounges like these but we had so much fun, we will definitley be back!

90’s hip hop r&b? DOPE stiff drinks? YES $ 3 entrance fee on a Saturday when it’s dead arse fck in here? dislike, especially because the«dance floor» is the size of my bathroom. That’s hilarious. This is a bar, not a club. You can come here and have a chill night though!

It was grew except for the lost of my wallet, I was pick pocketed and realized this as soon as I left the bar, and went back in to look for it, but obviously it was no where to be seen. Bartenders and bouncers did little to help.

Sure, it’s a dingy dive. Yeah, it smells like bathroom, because it’s probably not that clean. Sooooooooo what. Strong cocktails, decent whisky selection, nightly specialty drinks for $ 8. Go during the week when it’s not packed — you’ll actually be able to hear your friend talk across the table before you go to your *actual* destination. Just don’t expect to be able to see her. Good place to meet if you like hiding in the dark. (Note: I feel lucky that my phone didn’t get stolen out of my bag, apparently that’s a common problem here?)

Came here on a Thursday night with friends for a much needed night out. Our Mission tour guide is an elitist when it comes to night life in the City so we entrusted him to find flavors from all over in this colorful town! Our main venue for the evening was at the Skylark. I had a great time perusing the bar, dancing away(sheepishly at first) to the sounds of 90s pop/R&B and belting(maybe shouting) out tunes from the good ol’ days! The all female DJ’s were awesome! Very attentive to their audience and danced along with everyone while handling things behind the booth. It was certainly a sight to behold. The dance floor is relatively small, but not crowded at all when we went. It was the comfortable kind of crowd where you’re not touching people as you move along. The only issue we had was the bartender gal not coming to the other side of the bar to take our orders. She eventually came and all was we. A very down to earth venue, great music and a lot of people in their mid-20s who actually enjoy the music that’s being played.
