All in all a fairly successful event. Obviously the turn out was light, not the most opportune weekend for an event like this but on the other hand, it actually made it far more enjoyable in my opinion. I am of the belief you can’t go wrong with any event in Fort Mason. It’s one of my favorite parks in San Francisco and it was great to be back for the weekend. The vending was light as well, just a few food and clothing booths. The layout was lovely as was the VIP area. It was certainly a mellow enough event to take time to enjoy things. The staff seemed pretty relaxed as was the entire festival. Perfect? Of course not but not a terrible first run for this new promotion company ‘Festival Network’. Fortunately it was a mellow enough event to get their feet wet in, especially being up against the bay area big dogs, Live Nation and Another Planet. Sure there’s a lot of room for improvement(like any event) but I would truly like to see Festival Network succeed and have the opportunity to continue to provide music, food and enjoyable festivals moving forward. My joke of the weekend was that this was truly a «Green Festival» as there were no programs or printed schedules. I’m not sure if that was on purpose, but I certainly approved. I didn’t realize they boycotted bottled water, awesome! I did score a great ‘Klean Kanteen’ Slow Foods water bottle from the event. Sweet! Good Luck Festival Network! I hope to attend more of your events.

Ozomatli was awesome. The venue felt kinda empty, especially in comparison to Outside Lands last weekend. Tons of porta-potties, with no lines, beer lines of less than 5 minutes. The food selection was lame for a slow food event — some expensive tacos for $ 5 each. It was cool that they made the tortillas in front of you though. New Pornographers put on a cool show. For Ozomatli, I just laid on the grassy hill and took it all in. No transport issues, everything was so smooth. These people would have been prepared for twice as many people. I bet the crowds were a lot bigger today for Phil Lesh and friends. I had to laugh out loud when the MC announced that this was a bottle free event — no plastic bottles anywhere! No water bottles — no drink bottles! We should all revolt against the bottled water companies and the first 50 people to texted her got free tap water or something. Free tap water??? You gotta love that shit.

this festival was soooooooo smooth… especially compared to outside lands last weekend. the old man and i put up posters and flyered cars the weekend before and they gave us free tickets. can’t beat that with a bat. we were supposed to be hooked up with backstage passes and they weren’t there when we got there but the staff did a great job of trying to track them down, instead of just saying i don’t know like every employee at outside lands. it was never too crowded and at times, a bit under crowded but everything was perfect the way it was. music rocked(cee-lo…i will leave my husband for one night with you) and the vibe was so positive the whole weekend. i thought the food was alright, can’t go wrong with the wood fired pizza and the whole foods sandwiches were a good deal. stonyfarms gave away free yogurt and at the end of the second day they gave away cases. if anyone wants to come over for yogurt, we’s gots some. i loved everything about this festival, from the chill security,(i actually made friends and really enjoyed hanging with him), backstage bathrooms,(but the food nazi was kind of a douche) to the water bottle less aspect. every festival should be run like this. thanks slow foods. do it again… and i’ll be back. even if cee-lo doesn’t sleep with me.
