Steele F B Rick MD Psychiatrist

Rick has been my teaching therapist and clinical case consultant for over five years and he has been the teacher I had always dreamed about. To work with Rick means to enter a place of immense intelligence and wisdom, total acceptance, warmth, love and appreciation for life and reality. I cannot even begin to describe my esteem for Rick as a mentor and friend. He is a therapist who will support you with complete respect for your individuality and your own way of being in the world. And then he will add to the work the experience and compassion of somebody who has dedicated his life to understanding and healing his fellow human beings while maintaining humbleness and a stance of amazement at the human condition. Working with Rick can be a celebration of light heartedness and humor while he never loses touch with the problems and challenges at hand. Oh, and did I mention how creatively he approaches therapy and working with people? I could add many more highlights to my recommendation of Rick but suggest you contact him and find out for yourself.

Dr. Steele is a superb analyst — insightful, compassionate, but not afraid to confront issues directly and call things as they are. His ability to guide sessions to real conclusions is one of the sharpest that I’ve experienced. More often then not I leave sessions with something tangible to reflect on for the next session. Most importantly, Dr. Steele is neither intimidated or small minded about incorporating new modalities into therapy. His stance is clearly based on putting patient needs first and if there’s benefit to be gained through non-​traditional modalities such as hypnotherapy, meditation, shamanistic healing, etc., he’s completely open minded about it — rare in the psychiatric community. Additionally, while he clearly believes there is a place for psychiatric medication (depending of course on the needs of the individual patient), his standard MO is to reach for the prescription pad last — which is very appreciated! So many therapists prescribe first and ask questions later that it’s a relief to find someone like Dr. Steele. No therapist has the «answer». Their focus should be to help you find the answers you need for your specific life journey. Dr. Steele is a knowing, compassionate, companion/​guide — and an all around good person to boot. I strongly recommend him!

I looked up Rick to get his number to provide to someone and found him on Unilocal of all places. As a fellow psychiatrist and former patient, I know how maddening it can be to find yourself on these things. But then to see that Rick actually contributed his own bio on Unilocal opens my eyes. Its endearing. Anyway, what a great guy and excellent clinician. You couldn’t be in better hands!
