Good for a quick bite to eat. Very basic menu, but the food was good. Ordered the sunflower café breakfast and was pleased with my meal. It’s a little dirty and small but that’s my issues with this place.

An okay little café to stop for a bite to eat. I stopped in for breakfast, drawn in by the cheery name, but was served by a cheerless server who listlessly took my order. I ordered a coffee and some basic breakfast, which ended up being pretty expensive. There was nothing all that bad about it, but nothing all that good either. The interior is, also, nothing special — I’m sure that it would be easy to find a far more charming little café in San Fran, as the city is somewhat known for its hole-in-the-wall cafes and coffee shops.

I guess everything in SF is wayyy overpriced. $ 32 for 2 sandwiches and coffee. I did like the ham and cheese croissant. I thought I would find a cheaper place to eat breakfast outside our hotel but guess not.

If you want to get coffee here, especially a mocha, I’d recommend you just go to the sewer and fill a cup with water because that will taste better than what they serve here. Let me explain to you what I saw: I ordered a mocha. Saw an espresso machine and said wow this might be good. I was mistaken. After the espresso was made the barista took a bucket, yes a bucket, filled with some brown slop and poured some into the espresso. Long story short, it was horrendous. PS: another customer asked about when the tabouli was made and the staff answered that is was from the day before.

No service for African Americans! I ordered food and when it was ready, the cashier called me up to the counter to pick up my order. No prob. I figured that’s just how they provided service. That was until a Caucasian couple came in and ordered. Their food was served to them at their table. Really? In 2015? I asked the cashier/waitress why we had to get up for our food while other customers received their food at their table. She said she was busy. I will NEVER eat here again!!!

Sunflower Café was my first café experience in San Francisco. We came around lunch the first time, and I believe the owner was the one who took care of us. He jotted down our order on the back of a bit receipt paper. It took a while for the service but it was packed, so it was understandable. He was very friendly, and when he realized he forgot our cappuccino, he immediately made two — one was on the house. He even sprinkled a bit of chocolate on them, it was amazing. When the food came, I realize they had gotten my sandwich completely wrong, but it was still delicious so I didn’t care — the Sunflower burger my SO ordered was even better. Long story short, love this little mom and pop place, already been back once and would definitely recommend it for breakfast or lunch. If you come here, just know service might take a bit, but it’s well worth it!

This place is so bad it’s almost funny. Like most, I should have checked Unilocal first. There are no good, quick pasta places in the Tenderloin, so I wanted to see if this place had good pasta. The woman at the counter said they had no pasta today. I had to ask again just to be sure I heard right, not just 1 pasta dish of the 5 they had was not available, but no pasta period,(pasta makes up half their menu). So to make up for my disappointment, I ordered 2 sandwiches for me. The hot pastrami sandwich had 4 thin slices of pastrami, 1 slice of cheese, 1 leaf of lettuce, tomato, mustard and was lukewarm on dry/stale/bland rye toast. I’m used to pastrami sandwiches being so stacked with meat that you can barely open your mouth big enough to bite into it. Next was their tuna sandwich which was just o.k. but salty. The woman behind the counter didn’t seem to like to talk or listen to people. After waiting 15 mins,(this place was nearly empty), she announced the sandwiches were ready & they were on plates with 2 slices of pickles when I had asked them to be to-go. She huffed, grabbed the plates, quickly wrapped the sandwiches in paper, flung them into a small paper bag,(without the pickles) and impatiently thrust the bag out to me. I’m not dramatizing. At least according to my fellow Unilocalers their attitude is equal opportunity, so I won’t take it personally. Of course, never going back again.

I wish I’d checked Unilocal first :( I ordered a $ 10 cold roast beef sandwich and was very disappointed. The sandwich was tiny– maybe 3×5 inches. The stuffings were subway quality; nothing special. There wasn’t a line and there were only two other people there, but it still took a while to make my(small, 4 ingredient) food. There’s plenty of good food in the area(including awesome sandwiches!), so I’m never going there again.

Convenient location and there’s a reason why it was empty while all the other cafes were full: this place is a joke. Tourist trap, way overpriced for crappy food. Their pastries seem to be bought straight out of Costco. The muffin and croissant we ordered were as hard as a rock. French toast had no taste. Coffee was awful. Low quality food and service – very surprised they are still in business. They definitely do not belong in San Francisco!

This place is way better than the Unilocal reviews make it seem. Stopped in here(skeptically at first) because it was my only choice across Hotel Nikko. Ordered a egg sausage and cheese on asiago cheese bagel(not listed on menu). This was BOMB. Eggs were cooked to order, bagel toasted, fabulous. Guys working there are super nice too. Great place to stop in for a quick and cheap breakfast.

Decent breakfast. Seemed like the muffin was a day or two past its prime. Serviceable for a quick bite.

Had breakfast — how hard could that be? Very expensive. Potatoes were bland and awful. Bacon was good. Coffee was ok. Credit card machine was slow. Service non-existent.

Beware of the short line… Tried to order breakfast but they can’t work their credit card machine. Didn’t think I needed to bring cash. That was pretty annoying since he people in front of us paid via credit card, but I guess their meal busted the machine. This place is kind of dumpy and grimy. So they let us have the coffee they poured and it tasted like luke-warm garbage water The lady working the counter could have cared less and made sure everyone knew they had to pay cash. Think we figured out wh there wasn’t much of a line on a Sunday morning here. Walked over to Taylor Street Café and it was 100x better

Everyone was very nice, but the breakfast was expensive for what we got. The potatoes tasted like whatever was on the grill and really weren’t great.

Awesome English Morning breakfast that I got to eat in the sun sitting on their sidewalk chairs and tables. I mainly came here because they were showing the soccer match I wanted, but the experience was really nice being able to eat and people watch all the tourists outside. The next day their Sunflower burger was amazing. It’s a Mediterranean style burger on a sourdough roll with grilled tomatoes peppers and onions.

Had breakfast there last week. Filter coffee, eggs, bacon, potatoes, wheat bread. Classic american breakfast, but the worst I’ve ever had in my life. The coffee was just brownish water, scrambled eggs and bacon were totally overcooked and dry. the toasted bread was already cold. Staff was not very friendly and inattentive, I had to ask 2 times for my coffee.

A little pricy, but the girls up front were really kind. The décor was pretty cute, too. Sunflowers everywhere made it bright and beautiful. Kind of a «yard-sale» feel. The food wasn’t anything spectacular, but it was a nice atmosphere. They have bathrooms(ugh, finally! So hard to find a place in SF to use the bathroom) and linger around while we drank our coffee. It wasn’t busy, which was a nice tough. Everywhere else was packed.

The only reason I didn’t give this place 1 star is because their orange juice was so damn good, I almost ordered another glass for $ 3.75. It was fresh squeezed, and delicious. Aside from that? No customer service, or very timid service… I wasn’t sure if I should sit down and order at the table, or if I ordered at the counter… it just felt strange. I ordered up three eggs sunny side up, 4 strips of bacon, toast, and the OJ. The bill was just over $ 13. I don’t feel like the food was all that great, but it didn’t make me sick, which I feel is probably quite fortunate for me. While I was eating I started noticing how unclean this place is… and I lost my appetite. The only thing I can think of that keeps this place in business is the fact that there are about 10 hotels in the near vicinity… and a steady stream of vacation or business travelers keeps them stocked with ignorant clientele. I most likely will not be going back here during any future visits to San Francisco.

Came in just because I saw pastries and I was super hungry. I was thinking about going to Dottie Blues… but I saw that the line for Lori’s was long so im sure Dottie’s was much longer… and I was already pretty tired from walking from Filmore District to Union Square. Ordered the French Toast(7.65 after tax) and there was nothing special about it. but at least i got French Toast. Random facts: — Freshly Squeezed OJ(did not try), breakfast all day — across from Hotel Nikko — Pasta dishes($ 11 – 13) — their credit card machine is difficult for them to use.
