— the club is pretty small but still was half empty all night — drinks are on the expensive side — they give you a stamp but don’t let you go outside(well you can’t come back in) — they advertise artists to get people in, the catch is they don’t actually perform. We went to see Machine Gun Kelly specifically, however instead of performing he just had a short appearance, showed up at 1 am let people take a couple pictures and left.

Great place, I hate crowds where half naked«men» spread their sweat on a dance floor and others meh… This place is completely opposite! You can come with your friends and still find enough space for all your crew. Staff is very nice and kind. Coctails are good as well

Yesterday was my first time visiting The Grand. I didn’t know what to expect because I had heard mixed reviews from different friends. We got there around 10:45pm and there was no one lined up outside. This should’ve been a red flag. If a club doesn’t have even the slightest crowd outside on a Saturday night, somethings up. Once inside, we realized there were only 5 other people besides our group. 5. People. I appreciate dancing space at clubs, but The Grand had the emptiest dance floor. Super lame atmosphere. We waited it out hoping it would pick up later on that night, but it didn’t. We ended up leaving about an hour later to try to make up the night. Pros: Beautiful space and spacious dance floor, nice employees/bouncers, great décor, music wasn’t bad Cons: There was no one there, it was empty, the street had more people than this club, it’s awkward to dance on the dance floor The Grand has so much potential, but I think they should work on their marketing strategy to draw more people in.

Was around the corner having a couple drinks when a friend asked me and my girlfriend to drop by for one last drink. This was last Friday night or really Saturday, April 2nd, a little after 1am. I didn’t realize this until I walked in, but this used to be Glas Kat. And in showing how old I am, that is actually the last time I was in this space. So about 8+ years ago? It was pretty dead as it was the end of the night, but I actually preferred that. We were able to grab a seat on the stage area and get a Macallan 12 before they closed. The music was loud and bumping and everyone seemed to be having fun just drinking and dancing. My girlfriend and were feeling old and under dressed, but we used to go to clubbing all the time together, so it was fun joking around about how we couldn’t believe we were in a club in uggs and sweatshirts. Fun walk down memory lane in a way. I seriously haven’t gone to a club in ages. The Grand brought back some good old memories.

Well, the building is nice, but it was half full, that’s actually the first club in SF that I have noticed that. As I was saying, that’s a nice place. It’s pretty spacious with an A/C so I could dance with my blazer without sweating. But hold on a second, this place is for techies or people who live in SOMA. How can you pay $ 14 for a vodka redbull? $ 12 for a tequila shot? Seriously? The music was always the same, kind of house… That’s cool for an hour but pretty boring if you don’t change anything. That’s maybe why there were so few people. That’s not forbidden to put some reggaeton or hip-hop sometimes. I don’t know how much they pay their DJ, but they should ask for a refund. Sometimes I need some fresh air so I usually get out like once an hour. The door guy always stopped me as if I had stolen something even though I showed the stamp. Then he said«no re entry»… WTF?! First time I’ve heard that. I don’t like its guests too, always these haughty and snobby people that just look down to you from their VIP corner. Someone asked me if I worked for the security. Such fucking stereotypes, so a black man wore in black is obviously a security guard? That’s why except some places in Mission or Polk Street, clubs in SF suck! 85% of the crowd was asian, 10% white, and 5% a mix(latino, indian, arabic). I was actually the only one black there(I promise), and a struggle for dancing with someone. ;) Cherry on the cake, a car break-in(my friend actually). If you have a car, just go to San Jose or Oakland, the places are way better, drinks are cheaper and people much more friendly. This club is the perfect illustration of what is becoming San Francisco.

Sure this building is spectacular with its ever changing light displays splashing various color throughout the place. My boyfriend and I recently went there for the 007 James Bond costume party. The highlight was to get our photos taken. But sadly, that was all. We sat for a while but got bored and so left. That was all? We expected more after all this was supposed to be a James Bond themed party! And, there was only alcoholic drinks that were served according to the menu I saw. Sorry but I do not drink! Wow! Also, check the prices! A glass of wine can cost $ 300 and up. A bottle of wine can cost as much as $ 18,000!!! WOWEE! The waitresses wore very short clingy dresses that exposed their butts and boots that went up to the thigh. Being a cold night, I could imagine that they were freezing, those poor girls! LOL!!! Pros: –a glamorous venue with glass walls and chandelier that reflect the changing color of the lights –a huge two story layout with lots of nice sitting areas and a spacious ladies restroom with lounge Cons: –expensive drinks and it appears that they only serve alcoholic drinks –more can be planned during events held here(like contests, games, dancing, etc) –limited parking near the building –the building is sort of hidden

Came here on a Friday night about 10:45. There was no line and we signed up on the guest list but they could only find 1⁄3 names. They let us all in for free though which was nice but they need to fix their guest list system because we did sign up. When we walked in it was pretty empty. The club was pretty and looked like it had a lot of potential it was just deserted. Drinks were weak too. My friend had to ask the bar tender to put more Grey Goose into our drinks and even then you could still taste mostly cranberry juice. The music was good but by 12:10 it was still pretty empty so we decided to try and salvage the night and go someplace else. So glad we left because we had so much more fun on Polk street.

I’ve been clubbing a few times but I’m definitely not a «clubbing» person. I can have fun after a few shots but it takes time. Sober, this place would be a 1.5÷5 stars but I left a bit happier than when we started so I rounded up to 2 stars. To start off: we got on the guest list for the Friday before Valentine’s Day. I believe if you got there before 11pm it was free. Unfortunately we had issues getting an Über and were about 15 minutes late. The cover charge jumped to $ 40 which is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard considering the crowd was extremely creepy for the first half of the night, the DJ was awful(and not even someone big), and the drinks were so ridiculously expensive. We had friends who travelled to the Bay the same day so we didn’t get a chance to pre-game but if we had known we’d end up paying the cover charge anyway we would’ve just gone later because every shot was $ 12 down the drain and I needed around 7 before I could ignore the mess of a club around me. On the positive side, the bartenders in the bar near the restroom were all really nice. But honestly I could forgive all that if the short-haired Asian lady at the front wasn’t so rude. When we got to the front of the line she monotonously looked at us and told us it was $ 40. When we asked if they would accept card she looked extremely annoyed and gave us an annoyed no. We were trying to be nice and asked politely if there was an ATM. And she gave us another deadpan no. Luckily the bald Asian guy next to her was extremely nice and helpful and one of the only good parts about the club. He said there was a Wells Fargo and a Bank of America a block away. Side note, when I entered the club there was an ATM right at the front too. So either this woman doesn’t know what she was talking about, in which cause she should’ve said she was not sure, or she flat out just didn’t want to help us in which case that is some shitty customer service. If you’re going to have that awful of an employee at least hide her in the back and don’t have her greet the crowd. When we went to the ATM the bald Asian guy also told us we could just go back to the front and not go through the line again and we were extremely thankful but when we returned less than 10 minutes later another guard rudely told us to go to the back even though the Asian guy was telling him that we were ok. Lemme clarify on this. We were not rude. We were 4 sober girls not sure of where we were going who were just trying to get into the club. We had no issues going to the back of the line. It was semi-long but moved decently fast. Bottom line is: service was mostly bad, drinks were EXTREMELY overpriced, the music was bad, and until I was heavily tipsy I was actively miserable.

Bought tickets to watch DJ Khaled on a Thursday. He showed up past 1AM. I had work the next day and left 5 minutes before he showed. I asked for my money back and I had amazing customer service(exact words, via my email thread): Me: — «I would like to request a refund for DJ Khaled’s Exclusive Super Bowl Thursday Event at The Grand Nightclub. I arrived and waited. By 1AM I left. Last call for alcohol is 1:15. I never saw DJ Khaled and I do not deserve to pay for something where the artist was completely tardy and wasted my hard earned money. « Brian Waters(The Grand) —«Sorry there are no refunds besides He was there. You can check all social media» Me — «Wait. Is this the customer service for Eventbrite or for the venue? I never had customer service respond with so many typos and unprofessionalism. Also, showing up 29 minutes before closing does not constitute the cost of those tickets. May I please get the phone number of the right person to reach? « Brian Waters(The Grand) — «The artist got there at 12:35. And the clud did close till 3am. Please read the ticket receipt. It states NOREFUNDALLSALESAREFINAL. Feel free to contact event brite directly if you« 1. LIES. 2. Why is Brian yelling at me with Kanye caps? 3. I’m pretty sure they are recruiting 7th graders to handle their customer service.

I was here on a Saturday night and there was no one there, the club was empty. It was my boyfriends’ friends birthday and he got a table. They were being annoying about having a lot of people in one table and took us forever to get to the table. I mean, I think they need glasses cause literally there is NOONE at the club. It was not cracking at all, therefore, they should feel lucky that we made the club look 1⁄16th full. Bye Felicia forever.

I came here on NYE, because I thought it would be at least a night to remember. We arrived with little to no problems. There was no one there, which was nice for getting a drink. As the bar started to fill up that’s when I started to get really annoyed. It states on the tickets, website and just about every where there would be dress code enforced. So L and I dressed way up. What I saw was some dang scrubs all over. I mean not even dark denim, like stone washed. I also saw several pairs of tennis shoes. Which would be fine if everyone got the memo to dress how you feel. Secondly I saw multiple women throwing up violently. This could be for a number of reasons, however the club should be a little more concerned with its extremely sick patrons. The last thing was I ordered a drink at all four of the bars, they all varied in price?!? That to me is bad business. I was all in all disappointed, there weren’t even any party favors! Seeing as though there are so many choices downtown for your clubbing needs, I would say just pass on the grand. They care about one thing only(money, head count) and it’s clear throughout the way they deliver their service

I went to this club for 2015 New Year’s Eve, because I was sober and three Asian girls were throwing up and I was complaining that those girls were taking for not getting kicked out, the big black girl called me about for being inappropriate because I was creating a ruckus. In the South Bay if you were caught throwing up you would get kicked out. I had to go the bathroom and there were three other girls throwing up and they decided to kick me out because I just had to go to pee. Just because I was sober and just had to pee they kicked me out. I would never in my life come back to this club. The black girl that kicked me out said it was due to their regulations, really? Since I was causing a scene in the bathroom. So the three girls throwing up in your bathroom isn’t against your rules? If your you are going to target people target the people who are drunk and unable to comprehend. As I write this review on 12/31/2015. You think I was an endangerment to the crowd at The grand??? Really? If you EVER expect my business again, dream a bit harder! I am never coming back, I have respect for clubs. But not for places for this! You kick me out because I’m creating a scene? So i able to write this review? I hate this place and will NEVER come back.

We went here on a Saturday night for a bachelorette party with 20+ girls. The service was impeccable and our table was in a great location. No real DJ here which is why it’s always free guestlist. 99% Asian crowd just like origins. Everyone’s fronting in their own little ‘groups’ as with most fobby Asians. I would still prefer to club in hk or Macau though in that case. When I am between festivals I rather spend my time and money at Ruby Skye to see some real talent, but who cares the people here just wants to hear top 40 radio music. That includes hip hop. Eww

My friend and I were visiting from LA and wanted to check out the nightclub scene in SF. Wasn’t really expecting too much, however, was pleasantly surprised! We went to Grand on a Saturday night which happens to be Asian nights… Fine by me! Door guys were pretty nice and we had no issues getting in. Inside they have 1 large main dance floor with 2 floors with several bars so we never had to wait long for our drinks. The drinks were pretty good, and strong. I like how you can go upstairs and check out the scene downstairs. Staircase was a bit dark though. Music was pretty good… We danced pretty much the entire night. Bathrooms are decent with people attending to any issues. The upstairs bathroom is unisex, which was pretty funny cuz a lot of the guys were giddy that they got to share bathrooms with the girls. I thought that was pretty funny. I liked how bottle service was treated… With the club girls and sparklers… Always fun. That night the girls were dressed in Ghostbusters themed outfits. Pretty entertaining. We didn’t have a table but they all looked like great locations within the club. All had good views of the dance floor, which is what I would want. I can’t speak too much about the guests at the club but overall the Grand was fun. It’s clean, good music, good vibes, nice service… I’d visit again!

After I entered my late twenties, I cut down on clubbing… a lot. As much as I love dancing, my idea of a good time isn’t going out drinking and having boys who just turned 21 creep on me, you know? The Grand has a ton of 1 – 2 star reviews, but I don’t really think it’s all that bad! I wish I could tell you how much cover is, but we had special tickets for their Halloween event. I wish I could tell you how long the wait was exactly, but with alcohol, the line seemed like it moved steadily. I wish I could tell you if the crowd really is full of Asians, but we ended up partying upstairs at a table most of the night. I wish I could tell you what kind of music they played, but hey, I had fun dancing the night away so it must’ve been good! There are many more«I wish I could tell you“s, but unfortunately, alcohol got the best of me that night! Their girls bathroom does have three stalls and a nice seating area smack dab in the middle though. The lighting is pretty nice in there so it’s perfect for pictures! Sometimes having fun isn’t about what music the DJ is playing, what the crowd is like, or if the venue is any good… it’s about the company that you’re with. And I always have a great time with this crew! Halloween 2015: although a blur, it was a ton of fun at The Grand.

1) Get an IPad, you’re in San Francisco. I signed up to be on the guestlist a minute before the 8:00PM deadline and once I got there, they said I wasn’t on the PAPER guestlist, yet my name was registered online, so I had to pay the $ 20 cover. You guys are still using paper guestlists, f yeah. 2) I got stamped but the stamp was only good to go out and smoke, but no re-entry. True, never been to a bar/nightclub that stamps you if you can’t even re-enter after leaving early in the night. Understandable if you can’t re-enter after like 1AM, but at 11PM, seriously? I don’t write many Unilocal reviews but this place pissed me off. If you’re into the«NOWTHAT’S WHAT I CALLMUSIC» songs then this is your place.

This was the place, way back in the days. More than a year ago, this was the spot. Way back before Origins opened. The Grand was known as the ASIAN club. They gave free champagne to birthday groups, played a good amount of top 40 songs, and invited special DJs like MC Jin out. Back almost a year ago, this place was still decent. I remember when they invited MC Jin in october and it was great. Ratchet and crazy, a night I don’t quite remember haha. But it was all fun. They are known for their bathroom selfies. The lit up red-lighted trees in the bathroom. They’re drinks were decent. But this was the best spot. Little did I know that it was closed to re-model and become the next TEMPLE. Since it’s opening a few weeks ago, I have not yet had the chance to go. I definitely want to see what this new re-model is like and if it is again the good spot. I have to say that when I went by this place, post-remodel the diversity definitely went up! If you are on the guest list, make sure you go early, like EARLY, as lines do get long for this place now.

My roommates and I heard about the re-grand opening and decided to check it out. The night didn’t start well, because of the constant line cutting we missed the free admission dead line by 3MINUTES and had to pay $ 20. If the employs had paid more attention to the people cutting we would have been in the building at 10:20ish. So we didn’t have the best 1st impression of this club. Once we started drinking and dancing things were fine, expect for the weird 40 year old men that were all over the place. The drink were a little pricey but good. I was little annoyed by the fog machine in the bathroom. I honestly don’t suggest coming here. There are better clubs out there. .

This place is Asian central! For what it is, it’s great, but if Asian central isn’t your scene, get outta here! Top 40s music on Fridays and Saturdays. Great dance floor. Awesome party vibe. Confetti and bubbles! $ 20 cover is pretty annoying. The cutoff is at 10:30, but make sure to get there by 9:30 to make the cut. The bouncers definitely slow down the line on purpose so people at the end of the line end up paying.

This used to be the happening place to be but since Origin opened, the crowd has thinned. The last time I came here a few months ago the club was probably half empty, which means more room for me to dance! There used to a huge line down the street and you had to get there early and put yourself on the guest list if you wanted to get in without paying a cover. Now, I never see a long line. The music here is good for dancing. They play top 40 and popular edm. Crowd leans heavily Asian, which I guess is the case with most clubs in SF. We Asians like to go clubbing. Drinks can be pricey but they are strong enough to get me buzzed. The club has 2 floors with both tables by the dance floor and on the second floor. Last time I went, they closed off the 2nd floor probably because they didn’t even have enough people to fill up the first floor. I guess it’s SF’s attempt to bring a Vegas style club. Not a bad attempt though. I always have a good time here.

SMALL! We had bottle service next to the DJ’s booth and it was so cramped I felt like I was going to get pushed down the stairs every few seconds! They have a few other booths in that general area too so when bottle service girls come to refill alcohol/refreshments there is literally no room to move! Unfortunately, the dance floor is even worse! Although the Grand is two stories, the bottom floor is reserved mainly for dancing while the top is occupied with booths and a small bar. They let so many people inside you find yourself literally rubbing up against strangers the entire time you’re here. There’s also really bad ventilation – probably why they offer a small outside area for people to get some air and/or smoke. Good luck trying to use the restroom if you’re a female… There WILL be a wait! I usually go upstairs because it tends to be less crowded. Drinks are on the expensive side – as expected for a club– and I hope you LOVEEDM because that’s all you’ll hear! Predominately Asian people frequent this place(although I heard they are now migrating to Origins) and cover is $ 20CASH – no exceptions! Bouncers are pretty strict about the dress code for guys so be sure to wear dress shoes! Parking can be impossible to find so try and come early to get a good spot(aka not in the ghetto!). Overall, if you’ve been here once… That’s probably good enough. There are better clubs/lounges in SF!

The Grand is huge! Really nice dance floor area. Very pretty set up and the second floor is full of just booths. However, I have a few complaints about this place. $ 20 cover charge. There was no line, and no one inside. To make is worse, they don’t take card. So you have to go use the ATM and pay those extra fees just to get in. Okay, did that. No problem. $ 5 for coat check. Pretty standard. Music was good. But for a Friday night even until about 12:30. This place was dead. Of the handful of people that were actually there, 65% of the crowd was Asian guys. 30% Asian girls. Last 15% was a weird mix of the rest of us. Drinks were expensive, but we expected that for downtown SF. Music was good. But we didn’t stay long.

It’s grand, though not mind-blowingly so. [THEBASICS] — The music tends to have good enough variety and generally a lot of happy, popular songs — The Crowd is okay but gets creepier later in the night. — Rumor has it that prices of drinks are off the charts, though they aren’t even that good. [THEGRANDEUR] Perhaps the grandest moment is the impressive shower of confetti at midnight, which seems to be a favorite. The spacious dance floor makes it great for hosting any big social event with large amounts of people, though at the same time it can get difficult to stick together – when it’s crowded, it feels like you’re drowning in a sea of sweaty strangers. Lately it’s gotten tame at times because Origins seems to be the new thing.
