The Hancock Room

I recently had a private party at the Hancock Room and could not have been more pleased! The staff is awesome. Very friendly and helpful. John Eric, the manager, was really easy to work with and always promptly answered my many emails during the planning phase.
We had about 60 people and brought in dessert and cheese. They gave access to the caterer to set up in advance, which was great. Everything looked perfect.
We even requested some special drinks (beyond their normal cocktail menu, which is good stuff), and they did a great job with them. They even printed a small menu for the special offerings.
Overall I was thoroughly impressed and very happy. Thanks!

I had THEE best birthday party here at the Hancock Room. Drinks, music, and décor were on point. John was easy to work with– attentive, professional, and responsive. Would throw many more parties here!

I had a surprise party for my bf’s 40^th birthday at The Hancock Room, and it was amazing. We had the entire place reserved for ourselves. John Eric responded quickly to my email inquiry about making a reservation, and was very accommodating when coordinating someone to come early to set up the party stuff. There was no deposits or fees to reserve, but there was a bar minimum, which was totally reasonable.
Myself, the bday boy & the rest of the guests enjoyed ourselves. The décor was dark and sexy, the drinks were great, the guys especially loved the pool table, and John Eric & his crew were wonderful. It was the perfect venue for an intimate and classy party. Would definitely give this place my business again!

We celebrated my 5^th year of cancer remission at The Hancock Room inside the SIP Lounge. The venue itself is classy, and the bartenders are so personable. The owner, John Eric, is extremely professional, and very easy to work with. The music was great, and the drinks were great. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice bar-​type venue to hold a special occasion.

I had my 30^th Birthday in the Hancock Room for a private event and everything was awesome. Really could not have asked for anything better great place to have a private event of 30 to 50 people. There was also no actual booking fee, which was great you just needed to meet a minimum for the night.
They get five stars from me.

Went to a party here and had a great time in the private room of Sip Lounge. Great drinks… albeit pricey, and a cool vibe. Funky pictures of our founding fathers all over the walls with plenty of comfy seating and room for dancing. The DJ was great, mixing in new with classic and getting quite the reaction from the crowd. We closed it down and would definitely host a party here!

I went here the night I flew in (a Tuesday night) so it was pretty empty overall. There were maybe 3 other patrons in the place. Oh California, your drinking hours amaze me.
Despite that, I found pleasure in the company of the owner/​bartender of the place. He makes a mean cocktail and the interior is sexy and sophisticated. It reminds me of of the many amazing mixology bars in NYC like Death + Co., Raines Law Room, The Brandy Library etc.
The Hancock Room is dark, lush and decorated with American Revolution era touches with portraits and statues of the likes of Franklin, Washington, Jefferson etc. Even the original cocktails have American Revolution themed names. Very cool space.
*The Hancock Room and Sip Lounge are owned by the same person and basically in the same establishment but they are separated by a thick black curtain. Sip is only open on the weekends though while Hancock is open during weeknights.

This place is seriously great. If really great drinks and America is your thing, this is your bar.
Pros:
— really clever revolutionary-​era décor
— full menu of cocktails rich with early American history
— everyone loved their drink choice — go with the original cocktails, any of them!
The only con is that the location is a bit out of the way but well worth the trip! Seriously, everyone should check out the Hancock room.

If you like Bourbon and Branch but don’t like the cramped feel of the library room or needing a secret code word to get in, the Hancock Room is your place. The libations are good and the bartender/​owner John takes his time to craft you a drink.
Drinks: For something unique, order the Revolution — spicy and smooth. For something that tastes like Hawaiian punch, go with the St. Charles punch.
TIP: On the weekdays, just call ahead and they’ll open it up for you for happy hour. On the weekends, go early before SIP gets busy (around 12) to enjoy a classier ambiance.
