Place isn’t cheap. I don’t know how they stay in business. Should open up a location in the upper haight.

I usually enjoy this place. Despite the dry cracking cigars. The location is only a short distance from my house. However their posted hours are not consistent. The days they are to be open late they close by 830. The days they are supposed to be closed early they’re open late. They entirely work off walk in traffic, so when I get off work at 9 and want a cigar. And they list themselves as being open for another two hours. Then they’re closed. I am devastated. Devastated… And I can never know when to expects this…

Selection is just ok — staff is not knowledgeable but friendly — today I called and they said open til 7. I show up 10 before they have closed! I walked 20 minutes because they said they were open!

Not a huge cigarette selection and super expensive. If you can go somewhere else, please do. The only reason we came here was it was right across the street and we were super desperate. But $ 10 for a pack of cigs is ridiculous!

I’ve been going here for a while and over the years The Humidor as been improving its selection and salespeople. Their flagship store is in the financial district but if you live closer to the bridge the chestnut store definitely has everything you need.

«Go Somewhere Else» Anything you could find in this store can be bought for nearly half the price elsewhere. Management appears both unfriendly and unhelpful. Why anyone who knows little about cigars would open a cigar store is beyond me.

The Humidor, by just being in the right place at the right time, has saved my ass on occasion. Walking down the street, either from coffee or breakfast, or after dinner, I have suddenly realized I’m out of smokes, and because Walgreens doesn’t carry cigarrettes anymore(um, what the fuck people, that’s what a convenience store is for in my eyes) I go to the Humidor. The selection of cigarettes varies. You know I’m desperate and too lazy to walk down the street in the rain when I buy a brand that isn’t what I usually smoke and pay two dollars more for it. But I needed it, and needed it now. That’s the price you pay for convenience and laziness I guess. The cigars they have are nicely diversified, but it seems like the staff doesn’t know anything about anything there, whether it be cigars, or even what day it is. They’re always behind the counter on their phone texting someone, and never say hi, even though I’ve been in with Cody often enough now to be recognizable. They must be sad, upset, and getting paid 7 bucks and hour. Or have no parking spot to use at work, and are annoyed constantly that they need to move their car every two hours. Whatever it is, they’re not doing too well there. The store is overpriced, but in a great location, and they get suckers like me in there that help pay the exorbitant rent on certain occasions.

Boo. Decent selection of cigars, but crappy prices and the people don’t know anything about cigars. I bought a hygrometer that was $ 10 more than anywhere else. I asked if they could make me a deal and they laughed in my face. It will be worth my time to drive to San Jose to go to West Coast Cigars where the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I will never shop here again.

Good selection of cigars, fair prices, and conveniently located. The staff is not made up of cigar aficionados so you’re kind of on your own when choosing cigars but if you know what you want/like they probably have it. Update– I removed two stars from my rating. Seems as though they’ve raised their prices on everything recently. My usual cigars went up over 30% overnight and nobody could give me an explanation as to why. Without an explanation I have to assume they just increased their margins by an additional 30% and I don’t feel like being raped so I’ll go elsewhere now. Bye bye… I don’t know why I bothered but I attempted explaining the«point of diminishing returns» to the girl behind the cash register that barely speaks english and has never once even smiled at me before I walked out the door for the last time. It’s for the best though, it was time to end this relationship. I was getting tired of the horribly inconsistent store hours too. Half the time I had gone there recently during business hours there would be a sign in the door saying«Will return in 10 minutes» or some BS. Rarely would anyone actually come back within 10 minutes.

This is one of the few cigar shops in San Francisco that carries my favorite Romeo y Julieta(no.2). However, I feel that some of the sales people at this location aren’t entirely cigar savvy(I’m not saying I am, but that’s exactly why I need professional experties), unlike their Union St. store. One thing that has bother me with this place is their inconsistent store hours. Most of the time they close very early(sometimes as early as 5PM).
