Lane is just the best period! He is caring, professional and great with dogs/​people. We couldn’t think of one improvement.

Lane is the best dog walker we’ve ever had; we trust him completely. We have a very sweet but shy/​emotional chihuahua and he is very understanding with her. At the same time, he is careful about making sure that the dogs in a group are a good fit with each other. Lane has also watched our dog overnight on a number of occasions (once for about 2 weeks). He’s great about providing walk comments and updates as well. We have tried other walkers in the city with mixed-​to-​awful results, and I wouldn’t even consider them as being in the same field as Lane. He’s a true professional.

I have nothing but RAVE reviews for Lane. I was lucky to find him soon after adopting my dog, and he’s been walking her ever since. Before I leave for work in the morning, I tell her when it’s a «Lane Day,» and she perks right up.
His services are dependable, affordable, and I know my dog is having a great time while being cared for. I’ve also used the boarding services several times. Although I have plenty of friends in the city who would be happy to care for my dog, I choose to board her with Lane because I know she’ll be taken care of so well and be comfortable staying with him.
And — bonus — you’ll get the best pictures of your pup! :)

Updating… because Lane/​the panting pooch deserves another 5 star review from me. He walked my dog every day for over 3 years, and the service was always great. He takes amazing photos, uses gps tracking, and leaves notes daily. It’s obvious how much he cares about the dogs he walks. Highly recommended.

Could not be happier with Lane. He’s incredibly professional and responsible, and both my dogs love their daily excursions with him.
Pricing is reasonable for SF, and bookings/​payment is easy and straightforward.

The Panting Pooch is top-​notch. Lane takes our french bulldog (Louis) on walks thrice weekly, and we couldn’t be happier. The Panting Pooch is extremely professional — among other things, the «Pet Check Technology» system notifies us when pickups, drop-​offs, and walks are started & completed. Lane has excellent attention to detail, and he puts the safety and health of his packs above all else. He is licensed in pet first aid and CPR, he is fully credentialed and has completed coursework in dog care — all of which puts us at ease.
Louis can be a bit high-​maintenance, having a sometimes surly personality and occasional minor health issues — but Lane cares for him with diligence and ease. Dog-​walking groups are kept small, and Lane does his best to group them by size and activity-​level. He transports them in a van with individual crates to ensure safety and avoid a stressful ride. We live in the Richmond district, and Lane takes Louis and his pals to Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park, Mountain Lake Park, the Presidio, and he lets them off leash in safe & legal areas. When the weather is hot, he ensures they get enough shade and water. When Louis tries to eat everything on the beach, Lane keeps him on leash for his own good.
We have also used the Panting Pooch for dog-​sitting when we went out of town for a few days, and were extremely happy with this experience.
We trust Lane with our most important dude, and with access to our home — and you should too. He takes his work seriously, which allows the dogs to have TONS of fun in a healthy and productive way. Lane is my dogs next favorite person on earth! I have total trust in Lane and he gives me many tips on training (my sometimes unruly dogs). He is caring, kind, and a wonderful person. He is responsible and I trust him completely. He even helped me care for one of my dogs when the dog was very Ill and I had to go to work. I have boarded my dogs with Lane too and never worry about anything. Its like sending your kids to their favorite summer camp! My dogs behave perfectly with him too. Lane is the best there is!

Lane provided incredible care for Walter, my Boston Terrier, who recently boarded with him for 10 days, including joining him on group walks during the day. My dog has some behavioral challenges and can be pushy with other dogs, but Lane was able to ensure that everyone at the park was safe and having fun. Lane’s experience and training is evident in the way he interacts with the dogs he walks, and he’s always patient and understanding of the unique needs and quirks of the dogs that he cares for. I loved the photos that were posted to the Panting Pooch facebook page, and Walter returned home happy, tired, and clearly very well-​cared for. We were so lucky that he was willing to take Walter on short notice, and be so flexible with our schedules; we’ll definitely be using his services again!

I shudder to imagine what some people would think if they were able to see their dog with many of the walkers that I see around the city. Just as an anecdote, there is a walker I see at least weekly at Mountain Lake dog park. Each week I watch her text nonstop, and each week she «loses» a dog, and then begins to run around frantically to try to find the wayward canine. She is a trainwreck. There are many like her.
Lane is a cut above. How do I know? I watch my dog when they’re together. My dog is tuned in to Lane in a way that says she’s getting attention and affection from him. And my dog is discriminating.
The truest indication of our satisfaction with Lane is that we PREFER to have our dog stay with him if we’re headed out of town and can’t take her. Though we could leave her with friends or family for free, we choose to pay Lane because of the quality of care that she gets, and that says a lot!

Lane at The Panting Pooch is excellent! He reliable, caring and great with our dogs. Not does he walk our dogs, he proactively works with both of our dogs and provides training and feedback to us. Both of our rescue dogs were quickly at ease with Lane.
