Bar hopping on Polk is my new favorite hobby and I’m so glad I found the pour house! My friend and I customized our own flight and got two free pours with the Unilocal check-in. The service was great, and the manager ended up talking to us for a long time! At first it was weird because we didn’t know he was the manager, but when it was all cleared up, it made out to be a good time! Super intimate though, so it would be a great place for a date night! But, overall, it was way more fun than most wine bars I’ve been to, so I look forward to going back!

Great wine & they serve Sierra Nevada! It’s a great place to start the New Years, especially if you traveled from Southern California on your own just for exploration’s sake. The waiters are cool, but I can sense tiredness in them, that I understand. They have comfortable sofas for the couple type and it has a calm vibe. It’s also not that far from the hotel I stayed at. I can walk around the beautiful city and then enjoy some wine and beer to unwind from walking all over the place. Will be back if I’m in San Francisco again.

I had the misfortune of being sober on the night of Santacon, and my(also sober) group of 7 people passed by this bar around 11:45PM. Someone who I presume was the owner beckons us in, says we should come in for a drink and that he would take care of us. Ok, fine, we stop in to check the place out. He suggests we get a bottle of wine, but we just wanted a beer. So I ask him what he has on tap, he says Drakes. I ask for a pilsner, he just says follow me and brings us behind the bar(as it turned out there was no other beer left). He pours my friends and I some Drakes IPA(not a full pint pour, there was about an inch of room left in the glass). Ok, not what I wanted, but we’ll stay at the bar and finish the drink. We get back to our table and pay, and not 5 minutes later he starts telling people they are closing and to head to the door. He comes up to our table and says we need to leave, and I still have half of my not-full-to-begin-with beer in the glass. I get pretty annoyed with this guy at this point, seeing as he just invited us in to have a drink, and after we paid full price for a bunch of beer we didn’t want, he is telling us to leave. I told him that he just sold us the beers, and don’t you have a last call here? It felt like he thought we were a bunch of drunk people and he was trying to take advantage of us. Extremely shady.

Liam is the most gracious owner and host. He made us feel so welcome during the very busy Santacon last night – while he seemed to be everywhere in the beautiful bar attending to an amazing experience for all. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I went here on a Saturday night. We ordered the California reds to share, which was a selection of three wines. The wines were served in shot glasses rather than wine glasses, which I felt was reasonably unprofessional, but was forgivable considering the flight was only $ 14. The pours were fairly small, but again we paid only $ 14 so we didn’t expect much. I tried the first wine and it was awful. It tasted like cat piss. I’m not one to complain and I generally like most wines that I taste, but this was just dreadful. My girlfriend had already tried the first two wines and she said the second one was worse. I tried that one and she was right. It tasted like the cat had dropped a turd before he pissed on it. Finally I tried the last wine and it was just blatantly and unquestionably corked. Each wine was just utterly undrinkable; I would have much preferred they served us three glasses of two buck chuck instead. It was an interesting experience really. The first wine was the worst wine I had ever had. But as I tried each successive wine, they only got progressively worse as each new tasting unseated the previous for the title of inglorious horribleness. The service was pretty awful too, but that may have been because I was loudly complaining to my girlfriend about how bad the wines were. When someone finally came I emphatically spoke my mind about the barely touched wines. She dumped them out and gave us the full bill. I’m not one to complain about restaurants or bars. This was the only time in my entire life I’ve ever sent anything back or complained to a server about the quality. But something is not right here. If there’s one establishment of any kind I would recommend someone not go to, it is the Pour House in Nob Hill.

I’m already a big fan of this place thus far! Last Friday me an my friend came across this place and fell completelty on love! Our bartrnder was super sweet and attentive eventhough it was her second day when I was there. The owner Liam was down to earth an such a sweetheart. I admired how he was helping out his own staff by washing the dishes and contributing in so many ways. The ambiance and music was on point! I’m definitely coming back and bringing more friends! Keep up the good work!

I’m a big fan of the Pour House! Here are a few of the reasons why: — the atmosphere is cute, cozy, and casual. There’s a mini fireplace, one table in a big window overlooking Polk Street, and sometimes live music! — the wine is reasonably priced; you won’t find the fanciest wines but you can get a decent glass starting around $ 6 — you can buy a bowl of olives or mixed nuts for about $ 2. I think they’re from Costco but they still taste delicious if you’re looking for a small bite alongside your wine! — you can bring in your own food :) I’ve often suggested Pour House as a spot to go out with friends and plan on visiting again soon!

While I sat in the pleasant window seat with a flight of bubbly and some cheese I wondered how long would I sit unmolested in the open-air breeze? Took about 30 minutes before one of the City’s coddled male misogynist bums forced me from the open window into a cute as heck cubby-hole seat. The server was at first occupied with something online, I had to ask two helpful women drinking if anyone was working there. Minus one point for that, son. Be happy and helpful to have a job in this economy, right? Very romantic. I’d take my husband but he recently died. Toast in his honor.

What a nice little wine bar on polk street. What a great name first of all and the setup is actually kind of refreshing. There is a lot happening on polk street. When you go out on a Friday or Saturday night it can get hectic with all the drunk people and yelling. It is nice to be able to slide into a place like this and feel like you are off the beaten path. I love wine bars and this place did not disappoint. I especially liked the vibe in the place. They were playing some of the silliest shit I have ever heard played in a bar let alone at a wine bar. They went from 70’s to tone loc to backstreet boys to tlc all within an hour. I couldn’t tell what would be played next and it was a game to sit with my date and try to talk over what the next crazy song would be. What is great is the people there loved it. I think that is actually they vibe they are going for there. A weird wine bar and they are proud of it. It keeps the pretentious people out which is a great thing for me. It was never too crowded when I went there. The staff was always nice and the ladies behind the bar were wonderful. When i last went there was a couple that was making out the whole time. They got so into each other they climbed on top of each other and spilled their drinks on my date. The bartender came over and gave us free drinks for having to put up with them. The best part was the couple didn’t stop. I had to turn around as hands started going under shirts! The first time i went my date was terrible and the bartender knew it wasn’t going well for me so she filled my drinks extra heavy and winked at me as my date continued to talk about her love for donald trump and other absurd things. This place will always hold a special place in my heart because of that. There aren’t actually a lot of choices for wine here which is odd for a wine bar but the choices they do have were satisfying and you really aren’t looking for anything to special when you are wine bar hopping on polk street. It is a great place to check out if you are done with dinner but want drinks or want to go out on a date or with friends but not face the college frat and marina crowds in Mcteagues and other places on polk. Keep being weird Pour House and I will keep coming back!

My friends and I came too early to an event at the Regency ballroom so we came here to enjoy a glass a wine while passing the time. The wine was great! I wish I remembered the name but it definitely got the tastebuds going. The bartender was very friendly and informed us that he was a bit understaffed so we couldn’t order food. However, he informed us that we could order thai food next door and they would deliver to us here at the wine bar! So basically that’s what it did, and it was awesome! I never experienced food delivery at a wine bar but it was great! I love the deco around this place. There was such a cute table in the back filled with corks.

I stumbled upon this place because as my boyfriend and I were walking by to go to the bar on the corner we heard Christina Aguilera music coming out of the pour house and I just had to walk in and finish hearing the song. Once I walked in I loved it because of the relaxing/chill vibe and the awesome furniture made out of wine barrels. We sat down in a comfy loveseat near the entrance and we were greeted by the bartender with a list of wines they offered. Looking over the menu we decided to try a flight of red wines and it was a good time. Our bartender was very friendly and very knowledgeable on wines. Once we told her what kind of wines we liked she gave us a couple suggestions and we took them, and so glad we did because they were good! We will definitely be back!

I love this place so much! Came here on a Friday after work just needing a glass of wine and it was great. They have the best selection of wine. Pre warning they are not a full stock bar, just wine and beer. They have great snacks as well like cheese plates, olives, and nuts, basically anything that goes well with wine. Megan was my server and she was so nice and so knowledgable with all the wines. I tried a wine, didn’t like it, and she recommended another wine and it was great. It’s a very chic place and it fun with friends or an intimate date. Great place! I would highly recommend.

Came here for happy hour the other day which ends at 6pm. The bartender said I was just in time for the specials, then proceeded to hand me a menu which I foolishly assumed was for happy hour. My mistake! At the end of the night we noticed she had charged us full-price for our drinks. When I asked about the charges I was told«you didn’t order happy hour wines» then the bartender magically pulled out a different menu which she curtly claimed she had told me about. We ended up paying full price. The service was otherwise non-existent. There is one person working the entire place(bartending, busing, serving). Others joined our group later on and we were ignored for a good 20 minutes until we flagged down the woman to order. Given that there are so many other drinks places in the area this one is worth skipping.

Mellow atmosphere, decent selection of wine and small eats. Bartender working tonight has tried all the wines and offered her take on the wines. Every wine tried was excellent. Happily gave me tastes if I was unsure. Prices seems about right for the location and selection. I will definitely return.

I’ve stopped in many times for HH… I really can’t get over $ 3 glasses of wine, huge pours mind you. There are usually plenty of open table/bar seats and I love the open window seating. Makes for excellent people watching on good ol’ Polk St. Minus one star because there has always been discrepancies between a) what the website says b) what their outdoor signage says and c) what the bartenders say regarding happy hour pricing and times. Simple fix: streamline your info! That said, they always accommodate when I mention the website content.

An unassuming place right off of Polk. In an area inundated with bars, this place is a good break from the norm of rowdy atmosphere elsewhere. This review will be short since others have pretty much covered all the points I would’ve mentioned in my review. The place is not for you if you like to talk loud and curse during normal conversation. For goodness sake, this is a Wine bar, not a tavern down somewhere in a small town. Be careful not to offend regulars and others nearby. They WILL ask you and your party to leave. So keep that in mind. The bar area is pleasant with more tables around the back and towards the front. They do have high tables towards the left wall as you enter. The back area is for larger groups or quiet meetings. I got two flights of several wines. Both were filled rather generously. So I was happy about that. Other wine bars tend to skimp on quantity and believe me; when it comes to my wine, I’d rather have a couple of more sips! Since it was dim, didn’t take more pics. But if I’m in this part of the city again, I’ll definitely go here again.

More of a meet up place as opposed to a date night place for sure. We went to Amelie beforehand, but it was so packed so we ended up here. They don’t have too much selection for wines by the glass. There was only one«sweeter» wine option(Riesling) as opposed to going really sweet with a Moscato. Casual nibbles to purchase to accompany your wine. Service was fine from our waitress. Prices were decent, but there is a $ 15 minimum for credit card charges. It’s probably my least favorite wine bar I’ve been to but a good alternative to the typical bars, lounges and clubs on Polk… because if you’re like me, you’re so over your raging days. 3 by default.
