My coworker shared some amazing pork nachos and the horchata is too good to share! Can’t wait to try more!

Delicious tacos! The tacos are on fresh corn tortillas and topped with flavorful chicken. Love this place.

Great spot. Tiny hole in the wall, but great to pop in for a cold beer and fresh tacos on a hot day. Soft taco shells are made in house and are thick and delicious.

Excellent grilled chicken burrito. The chicken was seasoned perfectly, and the guacamole extremely tasty. Will be back.

If you are in the neighborhood on a Monday you definitely should try their chile colorado special in a bowl, very tasty! Their tortas are good and burritos are decent. Their salsa bar is a fun perk as I love to drench my food in salsas caseras. The service is always great with their friendly cashiers. My husband likes their beer options and enjoys the small corner taqueria style of the restaurant.

Has good Mexican food finally made its way to the marina? Sadly, no. It wasn’t bad, but the carne asada nachos and the chicken burrito here were both not very impressive. The nachos were way too cheesy — and the lettuce and pico de gallo didn’t really work well with the nachos — everything was soggy but not in a good way. The salsa was fine but I am not sure why people are giving this place 4 stars. It must be that people have really low expectations for Mexican food in this area. I hope to try their delivery service and update my review. It would be nice to not have to go across the city for decent Mexican food.

I’ve been here several times during my lunch breaks. The cashiers are super friendly, and the food is made fairly quickly and is really delicious. I usually get the quesadillas de maiz and it’s my go-to for lunch!

The food at Toma is so fresh and flavorful — I didn’t even miss having the cheese in my burrito bowl! I dropped in for lunch to-go today, and my inner monologue was having a real struggle between choosing a burrito, or the burrito bowl. Bad Day Liz was telling me hefty burrito, but Bridesmaid-Dress-in-Two-Weeks Liz said go for the burrito bowl. Dress Liz won out, and I was not disappointed in what I was given! The pollo asado(chicken) burrito bowl was big in flavor and the size was perfectly portioned. Grilled chicken breast, romaine lettuce, about ½ cup each Mexican rice and black beans. No cheese included, but you can add it(or guacamole or sour cream) for a charge. It honestly didn’t need more dressing up than two scoops of fresh salsa from their salsa bar! Everything was made to order, hot and fresh. The people working there were nice as well. Can’t wait to make another lunch break stop sometime soon!

TOMA is a little stop-in shop mostly to grab takeout or a quick bite, but it looks really clean and has a nice, simple menu. My friend and I got tacos, I got camarones(shrimp) and the tortilla was fresh + delicious! The quality was also really good. I’d come back next time to try their sopes. Also, I got the watermelon agua fresca, which was perfect — not too sweet and hit the spot.

I got takeout TOMA as a pick-me-up for a friend who was having a bad day. I wound up ordering a pork quesadilla and half-chicken, half-beef bowl, with free bag of chips and salsa for checking in on Unilocal! I love TOMA because 1) it’s close to my home since I live in the Marina, and 2) it’s really reasonably priced Mexican food that isn’t Chipotle. Everything on the menu is less than $ 10 and is made to order, so it’s super fresh and steaming hot when you get your food. The meat here is really delicious. I think that’s why I enjoyed the food so much since the pork, beef, and chicken was so, so tasty. The protein MADE the dish. My quesadilla was super flavorful, though I did expect a larger portion size for the price that I paid. The bowls are a similar price and came with much more stuff. Honestly, nothing really horrible to say about TOMA other than the fact that I didn’t get the nicest vibe from the worker there. He was kind of blunt and slightly rude. It also kind of has a hole-in-the-wall feel to the place, which makes me automatically associate dirtiness with it, regardless of how clean the place actually is. Maybe they could amp up the décor a little bit more to make it seem more clean and welcoming. Also thought that there was a little too much grease in my food… to the point that my quesadilla got my hands dripping in oil after I finished it. If your’e looking for an affordable meal with Mexican food, TOMA is your place! Highly recommend if you’re looking to dine on a budget!

Torn between 3 and 4 stars. I quite like the food — solid four stars for a takeaway. Nothing special but perfectly good. I don’t like that things such as sour cream and guacamole are extra — the bit on the overhead menu which says this is obscured from easy view, and you are offered them as if they were included. That’s half a star removed. I particularly don’t like that they expect minimum tips of 15% for service when there is no service. That’s another half star removed, making three in total.

I ate at here on Friday night and I didn’t think it was going to be this delicious! I had a steak taco and a Adobado. The Adobado was super good! My favorite for sure! Hand made tortillas made it even better. What topped it off was the Horchata! Horchata was on point! My gf is from Mexico and she definitely approves! This place is perfect for a lunch dinner or a late snack. I can’t speak for their other food. But in sure it’s as good as their tacos. Coming back soon! Nice job TOMA.

Burritos. A staple particularly in This City of origin. San Francisco is considered the historic center of the economical and handy meal. How do fringe purveyors compete, with, with the legacy and with the outliers? TOMA is a huge addition to the Chestnut Street — Union Street communities of those who consider themselves connoisseurs and success stories in our Contemporary Era. When it was covered that, another, local vendor of Latino foods, had been frequented by one of our chosen, illustrious hurlers for a World Champion team of ‘ballers, all was the rage, both for that singled-out provider of Fish Taco, but the lane, and its tangents, all providers of nutrition and flavor and texture, seemed to benefit: it is a challenge to arrive on time to one’s Apple Store Genius Bar or Online Pickup appointment without having to step off of the curb and ride the bus stop to circumvent the words are wealthy eaters and shoppers at The Gap… TOMA took over a small insert from a former ‘dog vender, which, I could never understand, how they could have possibly made a dent in the food consciousness of those just down the street serving one of the best ‘burger meals in town, at Barney’s, or, the greenaholics’ Vegan food and juicer, The Planet Café(don’t get me started about the 10 other eateries across a spectrum one also has to consider as you approach this hole in the wall.) The uniqueness of TOMA is in its entire presentation of an eatery. Yes, one can gather a traditional fare down and around the corner at Los Hermanos, But, there seems to be a Fish Taco price war heating up between LH and Tacolicious: on the way up, not down, a disservice to the consumer, despite many who have deep pockets. What should one expect to pay for a burrito in San Francisco: any district to any degree of authenticity, substance, healthiness, cleanliness? About $ 9. Add shrimp? Another $ 2. My only complaint with TOMA: the board featuring its daily special meat option is nowhere near the main menu above the register; I had no idea I had an option other than standard fare or their signature, pre-defined burrito. Yet, the staff were kind enough to provide me with a taste sample of the daily special, which was absolutely amazing. I had already committed to a pork protein which, grilled to order from a container where it had been marinating, was simply divine inside my burrito. The size was not ginormous but it was substantial. The beans were perfect: firm but giving to the teeth; fresh and flavorful; no extra liquid including the starchy substance one can encounter infusing a burrito. The balance in texture, flavor, color, each ingredient layered, fresh: perfect. I am not a huge fan of any other burrito in San Francisco: consider a venn diagram to consider all burritos in San Francisco — those you may walk or drive to in your local community. That is one interesting fact about the distribution of burritos in the San Francisco: somehow, the Illuminati of Ethnic Foods make it impossible to have real choice. Consider La Canasta, on Buchanan. They have an attitude of convenience, a constant pulse of families, au pairs, nannies, ‘sitters, double parked to pickup phone orders. Burritos and pizza are in a neck and neck competition for the Lacrosse Moms and Dads as post– practice nutrition, reward and celebration substance. TOMA is hungry for success. If you look at reviews on Unilocal*over the past 7 months, notice how the criticism, possibly sound, has been matched by the staff in the food in front of you: it is improved at each step and turn. Someone is reading these reviews and improving on a dime.

This is a decent spot if you’re craving take out Mexican food in the Marina. I had the carne asada burrito and was a little disappointed at the meat which was cut into very large pieces and was a bit chewy. I did enjoy their salsa bar — there was one salsa in particular in the back right that was fresh and had a good kick to it. And I would also recommend their agua fresca — on Sunday they had a honeydew one that was so good! Also, it might be good to know that there’s not much sitting space. There are about 3 tables(2 outside and 1 inside) and a few stools along the wall.

Not as impressed with the food here as other reviewers are. Items I’ve tried, whether the sopas or some tacos, have come out dripping wet and drowning in sauce, and their taste just wasn’t all that memorable. While I get that this might be a neighborhood favorite because it feels like a clean and«safe» space for gringos, there are so many more authentic and worthwhile experiences elsewhere in the city if you’re craving some true Mexican food.

Avoid this spot. I’ve tried their dinner food and their breakfast food now. Their regular burritos and tacos are very average. Definitely a three star at best meal. My friend described this place as a safe place to eat because it doesn’t make him sick and he lives next door to it but it’s nothing to write home about. The reason they’ve earned one star from me is because I tried their breakfast burrito this morning. It was mostly undercooked potatoes with maybe a single egg inside. It was horrible. Upon telling the staff that I was expecting some meat and egg they stared at me, said sorry and shrugged their shoulders. Their are too many better places in the area than to eat bad food with worse service. Eat here at your own risk.

The staff was nice. Meat was salty & had a few fat chunks. Wet burrito medium size The«wet» red sauce too salty. Hot sauce & green sauce wasn’t too great it was all over seasoned. Probably should have gotten the tacos. The chips were good. I threw half the burrito away.

I think I just about fell in love with their shrimp tacos and their carne asada rojas burrito… Shrimp tacos were just about perrrfect. Shrimp was super moist and cooked just right. Everything about this taco was juicy AF. Tortilla was freshly made! It was thicker than what I’m usually used to, but still very good! Carne asada roja burrito was mouth-watering. So much juicy meat and the extra peppers were delicious. Not spicy at all, but that can be fixed with some Tapatio or spicy salsa. Only thing that I didn’t like so much was the Pork Sopas. Meat was a bit dry, and too much sopa. Too much, too thick. @_@ Two sopas in each order was already way too much for one sitting. Also, too much beans which really overpowered the entire thing. The beef sauce that came with this was delicious though! Go for the shrimp tacos if anything!!! Burrito to follow. Skip out on the sopas. Check in for free chips! Go! *___*
