Tried their combo what a rip off At the soy and tofu festival today, I thought I’d give this place a shot. What a freakin’ rip off. $ 10 for a combo which included 1 tofu musubi, 6 tofuyaki balls and a 16oz hibiscus tea. First of all, the musubi sucked. There was barely any marinade in it. I should’ve just gone to kissako tea for musubi/onigiri where it’s $ 1.75. The tofuyaki was eh either, the outer crust wasn’t crunchy enough and the balls were teeny tiny. Where am I ever going to find amazing takoyaki in SF? Otafuku in NYC is still the best takoyaki I’ve had so far.

takoyummy is more like it! i was hungry and wandering the mission in search of something inspiring enough to eat and ran into traveling takoyaki. the octopus really hit the spot, esp with those delicate bonito flakes topping them. $ 4 for 6, not bad says i.

It was tasty but I wasn’t a fan of the sauce or texture. I tried Traveling Takoyaki at the Asian American Festival at Civic Center. There wasn’t a wait and it was ready quickly. Price was reasonable.

I have to say I was surprised at how much I liked this place. $ 4 for 6 pieces of fresh hot takoyaki! I only sampled some of what my friend ordered, but I liked it all the same.

waited almost an hour at the cherry blossom festival. The takoyaki was okay but not worth the wait in my opinion. I’m not a regular takoyaki consumer so maybe my tastebuds we’re confused.

We stood in line today at the Asian Heritage street fair not only for fried chicken, bu also to try the octopus takoyaki. We ordered one order. We paid and waited for name to be called. They prepare it after you order so you’ve got wait patiently. There’s six to an order. Round little balls of batter and bits of chopped octopus with Japanee mayo, tayoyaki sauce, and bonito shavings garnished on top. Stab a ball with a provided toothpick. The round ball is very hot. You can see steam rising from each. It was our first experience, and we both agreed it was different but good.

it’s OK for street food. Nothing close to the authentic taste, but then again this is not Japan. «Tokyo Treats»? Takoyaki is not a Tokyo staple. Here’s a hint, travel a little further west of Tokyo to find Takoyaki’s true home.

Interesting concept, but not my thing Happy Hour Part I : Set Up : They had a long table set up. On the far end was the cooking equipment. They had little signs denoting what each row of food was. They had spam musubi, cheese yaki, bacon and cheese yaki, and of course takoyaki. : process : Everything is blended and they pour it into the grilling thing and turn it once in a while( ). : food : The spam musubi was tiny and good. Not too much terriyaki glaze/flavor though. Each of the yakis came in 3, served with mayo and bonito flakes on top. I grabbed an order of the bacon and cheese yaki and the takoyaki. The bacon and cheese one tasted normal. You can feel the crunch of the bacon and slight cheddar taste of the cheese. The takoyaki had a deep taste to it. It tasted like something the color of purple would taste. The *yakis have the consistency of fish balls or squid balls you can get an asian markets. I’ll stick to those.

TRAVELINGTAKOYAKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!! This is the coolest thing ever! I guess in Japan, where there are subways there are a lot of push carts that sell food. Around here you only see ice cream push carts or tamale push carts or hot dog push carts. But this, was a real tasty treat. There was a girl working with her dad and a friend that night. They’ve got two flavors: octopus and cheese. I’m not a fan of cheese so I tried the octopus. It’s like a little fish ball but way way better. They put a teriyaki glaze on top alone with sprinkles of seaweed, fish shavings, and a japanese mayo. Such detail for a push cart! They were so friendly and willing to tell their story. I asked why they didn’t want a restaurant and they said in Japan that treat isn’t known to be sold in a restaurant just carts so they’re keeping it that way. The taste of the takoyaki was so wonderful. I loved the teriyaki glaze and I honestly kept coming back for more. I really wish the best for this little thriving company because it’s honestly a great idea and they seem like really nice people! :]

«TOKYOTREATSONSF’s STREETS» I’m going to stalk this food cart, you have been warned!!! I’m tired of the hotdogs, burritos, sisig tacos, etc etc. and ready for new exciting things to taste. When i’m determined to find some great eats, I will find some great eats. I scored big time. Traveling Takoyaki landed at one of our Unilocal Elite Parties catering to our adventurous palates of judgement. I had Takoyaki(octopus) and it was«damn, can i get another one» because just one did not do me any justice. It was a small bite but none the less, adventurous, juicy, tasty, and succulant, perfectly cooked, and seasoned. I cannot wait to try their other creations because I AMREADY. I’m highly disappointed in the Unilocal community, especially the ELITEs for not getting up on this review and blow up it up. Let me be the trend and start it off right. ITWASDELICIOUS. need i say more? Will i be back? definately! Until the next review…

I love the Traveling Takoyaki. I like the traditional tako(octopus) takoyaki, but they also have cheese and bacon for the less adventurous. It’s great to have something else at 2am besides burrito and pizza, also it is lighter and healthier. I also like all the extras they serve once in a wile. The adobo Sandwich is awesome.
