Rating 2: I’ve definitely experienced more flavorful, more affordable, and larger portion size food trucks. Wouldn’t return for the foods I tried, the torta and chicken salad. Food: Chicken Salad, okok, how special can those ever be? Well, this one, just isn’t, and maybe that’s to be expected. However, I did have high hopes for the Torta De Albondigas. But the bread to meat ratio was extremely off, and the bread wasn’t toasty or buttery at all; in fact, it was quite dry. The«Tomato-habanero sauce, spicy slaw, and queso fresco» didn’t have any bite at all! The torta overall is flavorless, or maybe the thickness & dryness of the bread overpowered it all. The beef and pork meatball was pink in the inside — that just plain freaks me out. Price & Portion: About $ 10, so it’s not bad, but I was left feeling hungry after each meal; portions could have been better. The only reason I’d return is to see if the Elote + tacos are any good. [Update: The manager messaged me and offered a refund, which I respectfully declined but appreciate. I feel better about visiting again to try the other foods on the menu!]

I bought 3 tacos $ 3 each. The portion was very noticeably small. When most tacos are $ 1.75 with more meat. I’m just saying for a food truck, should’ve been more portion. Money is not the case. It’s the portion and wanting people to come back for more.

The ahi ceviche is amazing. It has watermelon, jalapeños, red onion, and basil in it. Its a meal in and of itself. A must try for ceviche lovers.

Food was cold. Tortillas were cold. Pretty miserable experience. PS. You should always get two tortillas with a taco.

I just attempted to get lunch at this truck by Grundy Lane in San Bruno. Too bad I can’t give a 0 star review because I would. I literally stood there facing them for 3 minutes while one guy was busy on his phone while the other guy made every effort to ignore me. They were not busy(I was the only person in line) and they were not preparing food. I got a feeling they really did not care and were making a conscientious effort to ignore me. Do not go here.

$ 3 for a taco I can put down in 2 bites. Taco it self was OK, not good. Skip this place and head to the mission for amazing mexican at good prices. Friend who got the Torta paid $ 10. Literally a hot dog bun with some mexican meatball in it. And tiny.

Hm, I had the Bacon wrapped hot dog last Thursday and it was nothing but underwhelming. Kobe Beef dog wrapped in bacon sounded so good. The bread was warm and nice, sausage was ok. The Bacon tasted like a greasy nothing, I had to lift up the onions and Jalapeños to see if it’s really there. I expected a lot more from this menu description and for my 8.5 $. The drinks are way to expensive, as they charge 1.5 $ for Nestlé PureLife(which is nothing but tap water) and sodas are 2.5 $. Staff was quick but a little bit grumpy. How about a smile?!

I truly hate that I have to keep writing about disappointing mexican food but I refuse to lower my standards… I gave it 3 stars but I will go back and try other things to be fair. This time I had a bacon wrapped hot dog, one al pastor chicken taco and one adobada. All items were bland, There seem to be a lack of understanding here in san francisco regarding spices that are used in mexican food/tacos. These tacos tasted like absolutely nothing. The only thing that had flavor was the pineapple on the al pastor tacos… and wait a minute… pineapple? I get you’re gourmet but if you cant even get plain tacos right don’t try and get all fancy. The dirty dog was the most disappointing. fat wrapped with fat. how hard could that be right? well… I truly have no idea where they went wrong, also a bit flavorless, the bread was warm and soft and nice but a bit dry and for 8.50??? the dogs you get from a cart after a concert for $ 5 have so much more flavor. Like I said before… gourmet? ok well get the basics right first and then move on to improving and attempting to make things fancier to justify the prices. Like I said… I’m coming back for more but I don’t have high hopes. work on your seasoning and spices, I could care less about the fancy bread on the hot dog if it doesn’t have flavor.

The Tres Truck catered for my office and it was a sure letdown. Everything had been cooked well in advance, and was pretty cold. The ingredients were pretty fresh and very flavorful, but the cold food and small servings were pretty disappointing.

The Tres Truck recently catered a party for our company and it was a huge success! The food was great, the staff was helpful, and very knowledgeable about allergies. They were able to accommodate over 200 guests over a four hour time span. They worked directly with the event venue to coordinate and organize prior to the event, so the planning process for us was a breeze. Highly recommended for any event that requires catering!

Taco trucks are everywhere. Good taco trucks are hard to find. Good taco trucks with just as good elote(grilled corn with crema and spices) is much harder. The tacos from Tres truck lure you in(corn tortilla tacos are the best tacos), but you stay for the elote. Grilled corn and spicy and amazing. For a food truck this is a little pricey, which is why I docked the truck one star.

TERRIBLEANDOVERPRICED. i’d had tacos from this truck before and they were decent but small. so this time, before ordering i asked how big the ceviche order actually was. the cashier lady showed me the takeout box it would come in, which was small but i figured hey seafood is more expensive, so it’s probably worth it for $ 7.50. they call my name. i pick up the order and the actual portion of ceviche is about ONE-THIRDOFTHEALREADYSMALLBOX. The remaining two-thirds of the box: air and chips. im pretty hangry at this point so i shovel a ceviche covered chip in my mouth before something obscene escapes. all i taste is lime, vinegar and mangoes. there were about five actual pieces of fish and they weren’t even raw. just chewy and tasteless. so if you’re in the mood for the smallest, saddest portion of overpriced fishy mango salsa you’ve ever had, this place is your jam. if youre expecting anything else, DONT.

I found this truck in South San Franscisco at the Centennial Towers a few Tuesdays ago(there from 11am-2pm.) Since we both love Mexican food, the red, white, & blue lucha libre mask painted on this truck beckoned us. Yesss! I was excited to try a new(to us) truck! Foods: – elote($ 4): shaved corn, crema, lime, chili powder, cotija cheese. I actually like corn in a cup instead of having to hold & chow down on a messy cob. However, the flavors were a little off. Too little corn & too much of everything else. The too pungent cheese & crema was overwhelming; it was all I could taste after a few bites. – chicken taco($ 3): yay for white meat chicken. Lots of yummy adobo flavor mixed with onions & cilantro. Thumbs up! – he also gave the adobo-marinated pork & carnitas($ 3 each) a thumbs up!(I didn’t try those.) – coke in a bottle: yippee! Real sugah! He is furious at Tres Truck’s $ 8.50 bacon-wrapped hotdog & refuses to kick down the cash when he can go to Mission St & get a fantastic one for $ 5. Just an aside. May or may not patronize this truck again.

Im always looking for good Mexican eats. however this time I saw they had a bacon wrapped dog with jalapenos, grilled onions and the works like the dog vendors in the Mission. 8.50 was probably a bit pricey the dog was certainly tasty. The flavor profile definitely hits the spot.

There is some truth to the reviews that say Tres Truck’s portions are small and prices high. To be fair this is a gourmet food truck — not your corner taco truck by any stretch of the imagination. The Torta de Albondigas(meatball sandwich) is just amazing. It’s $ 9.50 and I think it makes an adequate lunch. The tacos are also delicious and when paired with the Elote(fire grilled corn, cut off the cob, and tossed with ranchero cheese and lime juice) make a solid lunch. I usually spend a little over my usual $ 10 limit for lunch from a food truck, but the food is so delicious, I never, ever regret it!

Tres time the charm. Chicken pastor tacos out of a truck was a much better deal than tortas out of a restaurant: Small space. Big portion. Enormous taste. Keeping my rating at three stars since it’s still quite expensive($ 3) compared to other taco trucks. Your call on whether the quality upgrade is worth it.

Here’s the breakdown… FOOD: «Elote» [Grilled shaved corn, Crema, Chile de arbol, Lime, Cotija cheese.] «Chicharones» [Deep fried pork skins with lime & chili dipping sauce.] TASTE: *** [The Elote tasted great on the first few bites, but got boring fast. Chicharones weren’t bad, but also not impressive.] CONVENIENCE: *** [Off the Grid– Upper Haight.] SERVICE: **** [Fast & Friendly.] PRICE: $ [Under $ 10 total.] OVERALL: *** [3-stars… Other items included Bacon dog and Al-pastor Tacos. Not bad, but offering a limited menu with plenty of other food trucks around, I found myself looking at all the other food options before settling with this truck.] It’s a food truck… what more can I say? Nuff said. [#5 of 100 UnilocalCHALLENGE2013]

It’s one of those kind of food trucks. It tries to be all edgy and whatever. No, I do not want pineapple in my pork taco al pastor. The chicharones were also really bad. Not mediocre. Bad. Bland. Boring. How do you make fried pork rinds taste bland? That’s a real talent. The carnitas taco was pretty good. Now if it was less than $ 3 for a small taco… we could be talking. It was good, but not better than a normal taco truck.(Their carnitas taco saves it from a 1 star.) And your cashier… if you don’t understand basic Spanish foods, that’s fine. I mean, kinda embarrassing since it’s California, but whatever. If it’s on your menu and you don’t understand what the customer is saying… or when you try to repeat it back, you sound like a 7th grade girl taking Spanish 1A on day 1… I’m just saying it’s not a good sign.

I visited the Tres Truck back in July when they were starting up. I thought their menu looked pretty interesting and decided to give it a go. Being super hungry for lunch, I ordered the Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog to pop my bacon-dog cherry and I also ordered their Torta De Albondigas because it sounded really interesting. Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog(8.50) — Kobe Beef Hot Dog wrapped in Bacon, Chipotle Mayo, Grilled Onions and Jalapeños, on a Lobster Roll ( ) I thought the hot dog was pretty good. The Lobster Roll gave it a nice buttery texture and who doesn’t love Bacon? A little on the pricey side though. $ 8.50 is a pretty hefty price for a hot dog. But it’s got enough substance to justify the price. Torta De Albondigas(9) — Beef & Pork Meatballs, Tomato-Habanero Sauce, spicy Slaw, Queso Fresco, on a Lobster Roll ( ) I liked this a lot! Like the hot dog it was a very hearty sandwich in a buttery lobster roll bun. The meatballs were cooked very well and had good flavor. I’d definitely pick this one up again. They also offer different types of tacos, as well as ceviche and elotes. I’ll probably try those next time I visit. All in all, it’s a pretty solid food truck from people behind Tres. It’s pricey, but the food is great and the quality justifies the price.
