For the guy who was asking about non-alcoholic beer: per San Francisco ordinance, they only serve water on request.

This place is awesome! I met up with a long time friend on a Tuesday night for dinner, and we were looking for a relaxed place to grab a drink after. We found this place on Unilocal, and based on the pics and reviews, we decided to go for it. The beers were cheap(er) and we grabbed a spot on the second story and people watched. The art inside is hip and funky, it was exactly what we were looking for. I definitely want to go back!

Wasn’t as tasty has I hoped, but was still worth the price. The portions was good and the service was good. I’m gonna try something else next time.

It’s a pretty fun place to get drinks! The crowd here is on the younger side and the music is loud, but the atmosphere was still pretty chill and welcoming. I wish I read the Unilocal reviews before coming here, because apparently the cucumber basil drink is pretty good. I just got my usual jack and coke. Not a difficult drink to mess up, so I can’t complain. I’m not too into hip hop, but the selection the DJ was playing sounded good to me.

I thought I had left a review on this spot, but apparently I missed it. I went on a Friday night, DJ was playing some nice music and the drinks were on point and not over priced… The only downside is the line for restroom gets long and it’s only one toilet…

Went there on a rainy saturday night. Drinks selection is all right, not overwhelming not poor. Music playing was some r&b /hip hop pretty cool. Nice place to stop for a drink if you happen to be nearby.

Heard good things and I popped in for a drink. Pretty crowded around Thursday happy hour but snagged a table up top. Predictably expensive as SF is – over $ 10 for a cocktail. I had the watermelon cocktail and it really tasted super watery and had a seed in it. I would pass next time.

The drinks were a little expensive, but I love the great service and the fresh fruit that the drinks come with! My friends and I tried the berry mojito and the watermelon gimlet. Both came with a lot of fresh fruit inside of it, but also a copious amount of ice — there seemed to be more ice than actual liquid! Both drinks were great though. My personal favorite was the berry mojito, since it was so crisp and fresh that it covered up the bite of the alcohol. –1 star for the huge amount of ice that came with my drink, but would definitely come back again.

Came here for happy hour with a few friends after work one day. I had never been here before and really liked it! Great little spot. I ordered the cucumber basil drink and it was right up my alley. Anything with cucumber, basil, and gin is my drink of choice. From what I recall, it wasn’t too pricey either! Will definitely be back again soon.

Well for it being tiny there was a cool Scottish terrier inside who was a patron you could say, how cool is that? A dog greeting maybe it’s a San Francisco thing because I have never been welcomed by a dog in any local bar. The lighting was a show stopper you could say it’s very ornate it was a bird cage chandelier that had light bulbs exposed off the bottom of he cage. Bartender was a cool guy to chat with he had been an employee of this bar for over 10+ years and he mentioned being a patron before actually working here so I’m guessing he has to love it there. He was one man taking the role of multiple people jobs; he was the only person running this bar he served us drinks cleaned up after those who left and everything else he was the sole operator and everything else this night. I don’t even remember what we ordered since it was kinda divy we got some domestic beers and stayed for awhile it was early so we had hours before anything seemed to get crackin. He mentioned music coming up around 10 pm on Saturday but it was around 7pm so we weren’t waiting around till then what seemed forever when you start bar hoping early like we were. Great vibe for nothing crazy just chill out drink your poison and watch some football here

Tunnel Top what happened? You used to be the place where the good, the bad & the ugly would converge under one roof and let go of all inhibitions. Sticky floors, white lines on the bar, the uneasy feeling when climbing the stairs to the second floor because you had no idea who or what you’d see. Its all replaced by a doorman, cushy benches upstair, and hipster noir décor with DJs playing Drake. Now you’re just another classic SF dive bar that drank the Tech money kool-aid. The application for«a place of entertainment» permit pinned outside the building gave it away. Too bad TT, but thanks for the memories or lack thereof.

Michelle really made my night, despite being a very crowded bar she was attentive and courteous bartender. Just like a great bartender should be, nice to see her not fall under pressure. The Manhattan she made was great, she used a bourbon she recommended and made a phenomenal drink.

I felt like this place was an Oasis in a Sea of otherwise Touristy/Pretentious/Dirty bars. I spent a lot of time in NYC, so I am always on the lookout for a spot where I can feel comfortable cozying up to the bar for a drink or two and this was the place! I came in at 5:30pm on a Friday and there were a good number of people, but still room to sit at the bar. They have a pretty decent beer menu, and also made a very good vodka martini for a really reasonable price. By the time we left, the ground floor was packed, which seems like a good sign for the night ahead. I would definitely come back when I’m in the area and looking for a good happy hour spot.

They have beer. But I watched a man touch himself for about seven minutes outside. I’ve been told this is normal. Have drinks here if you don’t have a fear of men touching themselves.

Really chill spot. There’s an upstairs section to sit, an amazing selection of beer, and the aura is just overall«chill.» It’s a bit small so when it’s packed, it may not be the optimal place. They also only accept cash, so keep that in mind. Since I’m near this spot, I will come here whenever possible. They’ve got my racer 5!

TUNNELTOP, WHEREYOUWILLLOSEYOURVOICEFROMSCREAMING A CONVERSATIONTOTHEPERSONNEXTTOYOU! Seriously, just because it’s «cool» to have loud music, doesn’t mean that you have to BLAST everyone’s ears. It was hard to enjoy this bar. The drinks are good, though. Those DERN kids and their loud crazy rock n’ roll!

Great bar, great music, cool crowd. Love the upstairs space and the various places to sit with either a large group or date. Will be back to try some of the cocktails. I wish it were not cash only and I came when I was hangry so some snacks would be nice(popcorn machine would take this place to the next level!)

Hmm. Looks like a few people have had the same experience I had with the blonde bartender. Preface — I really like(d) tunnel top. It was good music, a bit divey, not too bad prices for drinks, and overall a fun spot. But dang, someone has to get her attitude in check. I’ve worked in and respect the service industry and I know how important tips are BUT that just makes me feel like I have to earn it even more so. I know I am not entitled to a tip. So, my friend and I are waiting to be served, the other bartender looks super busy and the blonde bartender is just chatting up some guys. So I raise my hand(no wave, no snapping, just a raised hand). She walks over and says«Don’t raise your hand, it’s not cool, I’ll see you». I chuckled and thought to myself«but you didn’t» but I let it go and instead I just ordered. As I said, tips are based on service and this was pretty poor service so I just paid for the drinks. She counted the money the moment I handed it to her and she started mouthing off something(I couldn’t actually hear over the music) and gestured me to leave the bar accompanied with a sarcastic«BUHBYE!». Sorry ma’am but you are not entitled to a tip. If you don’t like«serving» others or having customer service, then don’t work in the SERVICE industry haha seems simple to me. You give bartenders a bad name.

Cash only! Fresh watermelon gimlet was indeed fresh. Both the foot and drink were crispy in nature and i enjoyed it very much Raspberry mojito was inefficiency fresh. You see the bartender grab fresh berries and muddles them for flavour which is a nice change from every other place that uses syrup to flavour their drinks Over all a unique place to experience craft drinks worth visiting

It was me and my friends first time coming here .a bar owner recommended we check it out and it was close to our hotel so why not? It looks really small from the outside, and we were just about to leave when the DJ arrived and when he told us he was playing hip-hop, we stayed lol. DJ played some good music, the drinks where cheap… for two hennessy drinks with a mixer, came out to $ 16 not bad! We usually pay at least $ 24 for two wherever we go. On the second floor, there is a lounge area… perfect spot to sit down, drink and dance. Too bad we couldn’t find a place to sit upstairs… we ended up leaving since it got really crowded inside.

Tunnel Top is, quite literally, on top of the Stocktown tunnel. Coming from downtown, it’s(sadly) a urine-infested stairway away. But those 20 steps up are worth it. Especially if you like good ol’ hip hop music. You can dance right by the bar. You can dance upstairs in the balcony. You can dance in the narrow balcony aisle by the windows if you reaaaally wanted to(I wouldn’t recommend it; it’s tight and I’m 5’2″). And the best part? Drinks are more than affordable! Thank you for being a divey bar, Tunnel Top. Please don’t change(: $ 9 Oban $ 7 Hendrink’s gin and tonic $ 6 Jäger CASHONLY

Really, Tunnel Top is more like 3.5 stars but I gotta bump ‘em up for having such a great view of the street from their balcony bar. If you live in San Francisco and haven’t been to this bar yet, Bookmark it on Unilocal and make it a point to visit. It’s not fancy, yet I wouldn’t say it’s a dive either. Just a bar with good drinks and casual ambiance. People rave about their cucumber basil drink, but the one time I ordered it years ago it tasted like Italian dinner. Too much basil I think? Or maybe someone grabbed oregano instead of basil? Stick with the classics here, like a Cosmo or a beer and you’ll be safe ;) Like many SF bars, it gets crowded fast. Go upstairs if you can and watch everything unfold from the loft. Probably one of the coolest things about Tunnel Top is the upstairs area. A very unique experience. Crowd skews on the younger side. Pretty attractive folks, so if you’re single this would be a good place to take your Tindering offline. Overall, a pretty cool bar. Go there and see for yourself!

Cute little corner bar with an intimate vibe. I was a bit bummed when most of the draft beers seemed to be IPA’s or lighter wheat beers. Even the darker beers were hoppy. I just prefer regular dark beer. I settled with a Dark and Stormy that did the trick to relax me after a day of running around. Cash only, so remember your dolla dolla bills ya’ll!

This place is a gem! We came here on halloween night after being in the zoo that is Polk street. They have a really interesting drink menu above the bar. It was kind of s crazy night so I kept my order simple with a gin and ginger ale, which was evenly balanced. I would like to come back and try their speciality drinks– their mojitos look delicious. They had a DJ who played good top 40s with some old school hip hop mixed in. He also took requests which was cool. Overall the vibe that night was great. People were dressed up, dancing and having a good time without being rowdy.
