I weep for the end of those amazing sweet potato fries with chipotle aioli. COMEBACK! *sobbing*

This place will soon be closing(probably around 8÷15÷2012) so if you’re a fan, get your Urbun Burger fix before you can’t… I will really miss this place — great burgers, at a very good price-point and Mitchell’s Ice Cream milkshakes… where will I go now??? :-(

1 classic with cheddar, fries, 1 miller lite.(Shut up! Its bikini season!) I bit into my burger and was like, WOW this is better than Super Duper! Because it was– pure beef flavor and nice secret sauce + fluffy bun = good time. Their fries were also some of the best skinny fries I’ve had in a long time. Our buns were way too greasy. I tried to wipe it off with a napkin and couldn’t. I HIGHLY recommend requesting no grease/oil on the bun and you’ll be good to go. *** WAITWAIT!!! —- WTH its open till 3am friday and saturday??? YESSSSS I am so looking forward to going here with my bf in a sloppy stupor for some post drinking grub. This place rocks.

This place is just OK. The vibe is nicer than the way the food tastes. It’s fine if you can’t get in anywhere else to eat when you’re in the Mission. It’s not completely fair to judge a place based on a grilled cheese sandwich, a root beer float, and a side of fries, especially since they do have an extensive burger menu, so I’m willing to come back and try something else, but won’t necessarily be rushing back to check it out.

Real winner here were the sweet potato fries. Seriously, some of the best sweet potato fries I’ve had in this damn city. Perfectly fried and seasoned but not oversalted so that you can’t taste the actual sweet potato. I had a few bites of my friends’ mushroom bacon burger or whatever it was called. Was alright. I’ve had better burgers. It was juicy enough. Oh umm. also, Neapolitan milkshakes are 1 part vanilla, 1 part strawberry, 1 part chocolate right? Yeah so uhmmm. The thing about Neapolitans is that they’re traditionally served in layers. You know like, 1 layer of chocolate, 1 layer of strawberry, 1 layer of vanilla. My Neapolitan milkshake came to me brownish grey. Thanks a lot –_– I guess that’s my fault for eating at a hipsterish joint in hipster Valenica.

I liked my mission heat burger sans the cheese. Cooked Medium Rare, all the nice juices spilled from the beef patty, soaking the bottom bun. What nice and tasty development. I scooped everything up. With my salad, it almost felt healthy. Love this place and will try the other burgers they offer. Give me burger and a glass of wine and I am set. Paris. baby.

A tasty burger! I’ve passed this place many times but until my roommate told me her friends thought it was a great burger I never thought to try it. Indeed a good burger, and decent value as for the same price at Barneys you get a similar burger but at Urbun it includes a side. I got the half and half sweet and regular fries, and they were pretty good. Thr burger was perfectly cooked(medium as requested), tasty and fresh. Not much else to say. Would and will return. Also, the staff were friendly.

Like We tried the Bacon Blue &CA Sensation(as mentioned in many peeps’ reviews and quick tips.) We loved them both. The Bacon Blue is a ridiculous celebration of Blue Cheese. It’s just a delight. To accompany this wonder of Blue a golden layer of sauteed onions tops it off. BUT be prepared the layers of deliciousness lead to a pretty tough to eat situation. Tip: You get a choice of side salad or fries. We opted for the salad. It was a good alternative to fries if you not quite feeling the total calorie boost. The pumpkin malt. What a treat! It’s basically a pumpkin pie in drinkable form. Yummy yummy. My only hope is that they might cook burgers to order one day. Maybe they do now, but we weren’t asked. I like the interior space. The colors & finishes are fun. It’s a little overboard on the hard surfaces, but all in all a cool place to dine. On the temperature side, it was pretty cold inside on the rainy cold day we tried it. My favorite burger in SF is Pearls. If you are in the Mission, then you should give UB a shot. Very solid food.

The Mission Heat was DELICIOUS! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Lo Carb diet friendly, super clean and great extra sauces to choose from. The Chipotle sauce is awesome and spicy!

Yay, I made it back here D R U N K! Ok, so maybe that’s something I shouldn’t be bragging about. I did a lot of questionable things over the weekend and devouring a mammoth of a burger with a side of fries at 2:45AM on Sunday morning is the only thing I don’t regret to say the least. Unfortunately, it was«that» kind of a weekend. :X After leaving 5A5 this past Saturday, it was my bright idea to come to Urbun Burger. The menu was a bit blurry and but the word«Fried Egg» caught my attention so I ordered a Breakfast Burger with a Side of Sweet Potato Fries. BREAKFASTBURGER: Fried Egg, American Cheese, Smoked Applewood Bacon, Fries & Tabasco Mayo w/Side of Potato Fries($ 10.50 +$ 1.59): HANDS-DOWNTHEBESTBURGEREVERRRR!!! Nestled between the soft, toasted bun was a hearty beef patty that had an avalanche of melted cheese topped with a thick bacon slices and a fried egg with a gentle smearing of the Tabasco mayo. The beef patty was perfectly grilled with a caramelized crust which sealed in all the juices making it incredibly succulent. Several bites into the burger, my teeth punctured the fried egg which started to ooze out the prized gem of creamy, rich decadence. As the yolk dripped all over the cardboard carton, I made sure not to let any of this go to waste as I used my burger as a mop to sop up all this yummy goodness. The oooey goeeey cheese added a nice tangy saltiness while the fries gave the burger some crunch and bacon added a rich smokiness. The Tabasco mayo was the icing on the cake giving a fiery kick to the burger. Each bite was sinfully delicious and worth every artery-clogging caloric and fat intake known to man. Urbun Burger’s still has my favorite Sweet Potato Fries in the city. Even in the wee hours of the morning, the quality is not compromised. Piping hot out-of-the-fryer, the Sweet Potato Fries were crunchy on the outside with a soft, fluffiness on the inside. The light sprinkling of salt brought out the natural sweetness of the potatoes. A quick dip into ketchup will give you the perfect balance of salty, tangy, and sweet deliciousness. My friend also the Breakfast Burger and repeatedly said, «Mmmm, this is SOOOGOOOD…» while he had mayo and egg yolk smeared on the side of his face. When I tried to tell him to wipe his face, he said, «Whaaa? It’s good…» and continued chomping away. I guess he thought it was«THAT» good too! My other friend had passed out on the table so took his cheeseburger to go. He had the burger for breakfast the next morning and told me, the burger was very good and he’s a man of little words when it comes to food. Thanks to Mr. Goose and Mr. Hendrick’s, I’ve done a lot of drunk eating; more than I care to admit. And, Urbun Burger definitely has the BEST sober and drunk eats in SF. Out of the 28 places on my «Late Night Drunk Munchie» List, Urbun Burger is the one of only two food-related 5 Star reviews which says A LOT! Urbun Burger I’ll «Bun» you any day… morning, day or night!

The burgers are good here but great??? That’s debatable. The menu is pretty extensive so you wont feel left out even if you don’t eat meat. They’ve got beef, chicken, or veggie options and more. Just make sure you bring your paycheck because this place isn’t cheap. You’ll end up spending around $ 9 – 10 just for your burger while gourmet topping options are around $ 1.25 each. Want fries with that? You’ll be paying for those too… and you might want a drink to quench your thirst. Not free. I would easily give this place 2 stars but the food is good, so I’d just wish they’d lower the prices a bit.

In this part of town, it’s better if on foot vs risking a $ 55 parking ticket, but if in the mood for a complete burger that you can tailor to your liking, then UrBUN is worth a try. A very user friendly menu let’s you pick a burger style and then personalize to your mood. We were the first customers of the day at 11 am and my California burger w/avocado, great fries and onion rings was cooked perfectly medium. You order up and pay then they will bring to your seat yourself table. Every burger is customizable from meat, non meat, cheeses, sauces, fries, sweet potato, onion rings or a 50⁄50 split… quite convenient for those who want to over order but not over eat. Check it out if in the area!

Consistently Average, I’ll give it that. I think it might fare better as drinker food than as lunch break food, when I’m stone cold sober. I’ve had average shakes, veggie burgers, burgers, and service here.

This is perfect when you are coming out of any if the late night bars in the area because ita clean, bright and not greasy like Wendy’s drive thru(you know it’s your usual late night mistake…) only thing us this isn’t cheap like Wendy’s. You’re going to pay about $ 8 — $ 9 for a burger, but you do get yummy fries(about medium size) and a pickle. The menu is pretty large and interesting with names of burgers like«big kahuna» and like a cowboy name. But you can opt for subs like turkey burger meat etc All in all for a late night(early morning) nosh fest I would totally recommend Urbun Burger.

A burger review ought to start with an assessment of what we all look for in our burgers. Meat ought to be sufficiently large, juicy, and flavorful. Medium rare should be cooked exactly that way, medium rare. The bread must be legit and the supporting ingredients must be fresh. As for the restaurant, the burger selection should be diverse and innovative, but it still has to get the basics right. With at in mind, I think Urbun Burger in the Mission D has claimed its stake as one of the better burger spots in San Francisco. The Mission Heat features sauteed green chillies and jalapeño with jack cheese. True to form, the burger had the appropriate level of spice. The meat was juicy and flavorful, plus it wasn’t too salty. Not quite the level of Hall of Flame, but very very good stuff indeed. Probably the only thing that gives me pause is that this burger, like other Urbun burgers, makes for one spectacularly sloppy meal. The bun simply wasn’t strong enough to hold in all that yummy goodness, so you’ll end up with much of your burger on your tray(or your lap). Good fries as well. A tad more seasoning would help with flavor, but they fry the fries just right so they stay crispy throughout the meal. I have a feeling the good folks at Urbun will see my mug often, especially since(1) they are just three Bart stops and a short walk away, and(2) the FiDi has no spot like it(nope, not Bistro either).

What he said, «I’ve had my fair share of meat in between buns during my lifetime; but this is definitely top 3!» I wish I had thought of that witty yet racy line. Some odd weeks back, after a 4 hour class — my friend and I skipped, hopped, and jumped to Urbun Burger with our grumbly tumblies and Groupon. For him: breakfast burger with fries –fried egg, yellow American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, french fries, and tabasco mayo My taste tester’s two cents: I like the runny egg, but not too crazy about the tabasco mayo because I can’t handle the kick; I can only deal with light jabs. For me: california sensation burger with sweet potato fries –avocado, sprouts, swiss cheese, and urbun sauce I really like avocado and sprouts. Good additions to the burger — gives it a pseudo light salad feel and then the juicy meat. Yum! My GOT, these are some juicy burgers. *Drool* The sweet potato fries and fries were also great, but I’m a lover of fries, so really it’s hard to go wrong there. It’s a lot of food, but we devoured all minus some leftover sweet potato fries. Glutton befriends gluttons.

When early 90’s rapper Sir-Mix-a-Lot said, «My anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns, hon» I’m 99% sure he was referring to the ginormous Urbun Burger buns. Voluptuous, scrumptious buns, big enough to feed two people… Unfortunately, when it comes to food preferences, the bf & I are polar opposites so we each ordered a burger & both only ate half. He had the Breakfast Burger(fried egg, bacon, american cheese, fries & Tabasco mayo) & onion rings. His burger was too rare for me to try, but I did help myself to the rings & they were nicely breaded & well seasoned. I did the«Build Your Own Burger:» portobella mushroom, fried egg, bacon, horseradish mayo on a classic bun. OMG, quite possibly one of the best non-beef burgers I’ve ever tasted. The ingredients melted into one another, creating a flavor explosion(i’m serious.) I ate the other half in the morning & damn, that was a great way to start my day. Their garlic fries are topped with Parmesan cheese & real garlic. Very crispy, but also obviously greasy. So tasty, but next time I’ll try their sweet potato fries. We shared Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Shake, which we both thought was just so-so. Grand total: $ 31. So, let’s make a deal – you try Urban Burger(if you haven’t done so already) & in turn, I’ll promise to stop quoting cheesy rap songs from the 90’s. Deal? It’s a win-win, if you think about it.

Taking advantage of the only day of sunshine during the past weekend I decided to explore some treasures along Mission Street then Valencia Street. All that walking sure made me hungry quick. Luckily, there are tons of restaurants in the area. Urbun Burger had been on my radar recently having read some nice reviews from several Unilocal friends. I peered into the window first, and was happy to see that there was seating available. The huge menu is posted on the right wall as you face the front counter. Luckily the guy in front of me couldn’t make up his mind what he wanted to eat so it gave me some extra time to eyeball the entire menu. I chose the California Sensation and because the toppings sounded healthier than some I chose to have a turkey burger instead of the Meyer Ranch ground beef. It said on the menu that they serve Diestel ground turkey, but not being one to consume turkey products often I didn’t have a clue what that meant. The burger has avocado, Swiss cheese, alfalfa sprouts and the rest of the burger works along with the«urbun sauce». Urbun’s specialty burgers come with your choice of a side salad or an order of fries which are upgradeable to onion rings, sweet potato fries or garlic fries for an additional buck fifty. I selected the garlic fries. I ordered a chocolate milkshake because what’s a burger without a good shake to go with it? The milkshake was an excellent choice. Since I had popped my anti-lactose pills earlier I went all out and asked for the whipped cream on top( ). The shake was very thick and very chocolatey. My California Sensation burger platter( ) was ready a short time later. After I assembled it in my own peculiar way I dug in. The burger was excellent and the turkey patty was charred nicely with a good crisp on the outside while remaining juicy on the inside. The garlic fries had a generous portion of minced garlic sprinkled on top of the golden colored fries, but the fries were too crispy for my liking. I like an equal amount of crisp on the outside and softness on the inside, but these were fried crispy throughout. Oddly enough the fries cooled very quickly also. I loved the burger and the shake though so the chances are very good that I will be back.

I think that block of Valencia Street between 16th and 17th Street have more variety of eats than any other singular block of the city. The venue’s size is very similiar to Rave’s Burger in San Mateo, also one of my favorites. But Urban Burger is more of a hip kind of joint playing mainstream underground music as we enjoy our food. For lunch, I had one of the shop’s specialty burgers, which is the Buffalo-Style Burger. For $ 9.50, my burger patty made anyway, comprised with Crumbled Bleu Cheese, Grilled Onions, and drizzle of Frank’s Buffalo Wing Sauce. Fresh Lettuce, Sliced Red Onions and a Pickle wedge are also added on the side. Fries(I took) or side salad is also included with my burger. The burger was cooked medium-well and tasted exactly how I wanted. The Bleu Cheese melted well and the Buffalo-wing sauce tasted very unique together. I also quenched my thrist with a cold bottle of Miller Lite Beer for $ 3.00. Yes, my face was a bright red and exposing my rosy cheeks. My face was just as red as the Unilocal-sticker posted outside of the glass door. My burger:

Yay for new things! Despite being disturbed by the paper hanging in the window totting proudly how their beef is fed a strict vegetarian diet of corn, I forgive the establishment(though they should think twice about that sign, cows were meant to consume grass, not corn. Andrew K. is spot on). The staff was friendly and the dude who I assumed was the owner, was über nice and walked around asking folks how their meals were. Everything in the joint is sparkling and new. Every burger joint seems to have a California burger and they’re always always always the same. Avocado, Sprouts, Swiss. I always always always get it too. I canna say no to Avocado. Add on a veggie patty on a whole wheat bun(grilled, which was nice) and I am a fat and happy lil clam. Yay for sweet potato fries and offering both veggie burgers and portobello mushrooms for non-meat eaters and the like.
