Great coffee shop in SoMa Came here a Friday afternoon on my lunch break for a little pick me up. Got the nitro cold brew($ 4.50) the coffee is stump town and the nitro brew had a nice smooth flavor and didn’t taste watered down like a lot of ice coffee usually does. There were a couple pastries and even vegan granola bars to snack on. This place is small, only two tables outside and no inside seating. A perfect place to stop and get good coffee in a relaxed atmosphere Oh– cash only *

What a midday pick up. The first time I had zero cash and they let me return later to pay them for my iced coffee. The coffee is strong and bomb. Definitely stop in if you’re craving something delicious.

Omg these reviews. Some of you people need help. I love the coffee here, I love the music from time to time, the handmade(like actually hand fucking made) sammys are the reason I get out of bed. This is the best coffee in SF, hands down. Yes, cash only for now, they are a really small business with low foot traffic. If you ask the other business owners in the neighborhood, you might see they struggle. Get over it. The ONLY downside are the patrons, seriously. I sit, listening to good music, and inevitably people sit close by and start talking about tech, without fail. They even use the TINY space for meeting and interviews. You people are rude. Ruins a perfectly chill experience. AND I even tipped for a large group once because these«people» didn’t think it necessary after several drinks were made. Calling these baristas rude… there is good reason. They are surrounded by lame start ups employing infants with no understanding of service work or appreciation for artisanal goods, while also dealing with SOMA street folk. Not an easy job at 6AM. Think about it.

Smells so good when I walk by in the morning. I had to stop in around 7:45 am. They perpare these delicious breakfast crosaunt bacon sandwhiches that are epic. It is cash only so make sure you have some on hand, prices are ridiculously reasonable. There’s also an atm accross the street. My mornings are so much better now that I’ve found this delisious little place.

Amazing coffee, worth it even if they don’t have a bathroom and wifi ;). The guy randomly gifted me a croissant for free. Very Nice place!

The coffee is wonderful. However, the service is like watching a PhD seminar in hipster douche-baggery. I come here a lot because I work nearby and I like great coffee. The guy who seems to either own or manage the place is always really nice and none of my criticism applies to him. But most of the other baristas are wretched to deal with. Won’t even acknowledge you when you walk in the door, make a point of slowly going about a variety of passive-aggressive chores before condescending to make your drink(even if the place is empty), barely restraining themselves from rolling their eyes at your presumption in thinking you should be allowed to have them serve you… if you’ve lived in San Francisco awhile, you’ve probably seen this routine at some point, but I have to say, these guys NAIL it. So over it. Guys, your coffee is good. But not that good.

Their coffee is delicious! Absolutely no bitter finish. I drink nespresso coffee every day so I’m used to good coffee thank the good lord, but the cappuccino I ordered was so rich, it almost had chocolate notes to it. I’m so glad another Unilocaler mentioned in his review that they are cash only; otherwise I would have awkwardly had a plastic rejection moment. I had a pleasant experience with the service, was greeted when I entered, and was thanked for visiting when I left. I guess the bad apple staff has left. If you’ve had a bad experience here in the past, please try again. The coffee is to die for, and there’s a really cool mechanic’s shop theme to the joint. I met here for an informational interview and the vibe on the outside patio was great.

If you are NOT into light-roast and sour citrus flavors in your coffee then this is the place for you — Vega serves up excellent options of medium-roast Blue Bottle blends. And it’s a cool little space to visit as well — vespas and motorcycles adorn the space with cool photographs from associated rallies back in the day. Love it all.

One of the best cappuccinos I’ve found in the city. Who says you need a La Marzocco to pull a good shot. This place is a testament to the barista. The café doubles as a ratty motorcycle repair shop or personal collection of vintage bikes. Having a similar attraction to broke down things that I will hopefully one day repair I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner found the 2 group Vega machine he uses on craigslist for $ 100 along with the osteria grinder and brought them back to life to create this delicious nectar. Honestly the first time I got a cappuccino I didn’t check out his gear and left thinking, «oh well he’s probably got a La Marzocco Linea or something. I mean how else could you get a shot so pure, not sour, not bitter.» And that’s because I’m an ignorant idiot. Judging a shop by it’s machine is like, well, judging anything by how much money they spend on their crap. Doesn’t automatically equate to quality. 2nd time around I was surprised to see the tools matched the décor. I then bowed down and realized how shallow I had become in my coffee snobbery. Granted something has to work properly to create good things but that doesn’t mean you need the latest and greatest. This is a true testament to the artist and not the tool. Like when you look at a wonderful photo your friend took and exclaim, «dude that Canon 5D is amazing.» Let this be a lesson to all of us. Go here. Get some coffee. Let the man do his job and remember it’s not the tools that do the job it’s the artist. Oh yeah and what people say is somewhat true though, he doesn’t chit chat really. But I didn’t think it was because he was rude or negative. Maybe he just hates us all? I demand smiles! Blue Bottle 17ft Ceiling Espresso.

Let me say one thing. I’m a complete coffee snob. I travel the world for work and I drink my coffee in every corner. The Swiss water noir(decaf) cappuccino at vega is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Old school joint with a motorcycle vibe Amazing coffee that puts me in a serious hyper rage all day. I never get my coffee with any dairy or non-dairy additives but this joint knows how to make something special. The Macau Coffee came out to be pretty sweet, but the soy latte was on point! It’s a bit pricey for a specialty cup, but hey, I would pay Vega to keep me awake all day everyday!

My favorite here is the Macau iced coffee. The only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is: 1. Their AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS croissants are always sold out by 9:30am :( 2. Cash only :(I never have cash

What a bunch of jerk offs! I would probably be an asshole, too if I had to serve all the yuppies that have been steadily moving into the area for the last 4 years… but the people staffed are the same yuppies they try to separate themselves from. Do they think we don’t know? Maybe they don’t know. I walked in with my co-worker and the Asian dude and White dude with that really gross long beard just stared at us. No one else was there and we were right in of their faces. No one asked us if we needed anything, so I just asked if I could have a croissant. No response. The Asian guy turned around to fiddle with some gadgets. I looked at the hair dude(by the way, you’re supposed to trim it once it gets to a certain length. And that look doesn’t fit your really innocent, naïve, privileged eyes) and asked if there’s someone that could help us and he point to the Asian guy. The hairy dude wasn’t doing anything. Just standing in front of the espresso machine, one arm leaning atop it. I got my croissant. Still they said nothing. NEVER. AGAIN.

I LOVE the coffee here. Whenever I’m in the area, I make sure to pop down to grab a soy latte($ 4ish). As others have said, they serve Blue Bottle Coffee here so you don’t have to wait in line or fight the crowds at the official locations. If you’ve signed up for«Perkville» you can check in at this location to earn points for free coffee(though I think 20 visits for 1 free drink is a bit much). The cookies($ 2.50?) are amazing; I think they’re from«Goodie Goodie»? I usually get the chocolate chip plain, with walnuts, or… wait for it… with caramel popcorn! Two things to remember: Yes, they are cash only and don’t forget to put sugar into your soy drinks since they use unsweetened only. Enjoy. :)

Nothing like wandering the streets after a SF Giant World Series Parade and landing in one of the hidden gems of coffee making. You had me at blue bottle. It’s always the blue bottle. I can’t help it. Keep it simple and stay the way you are Vega. You rock.

Charming — totally SF, and QUALITY. John Quintos does it again. Vega is nothing like you’re average, everyday garage door coffee shoppe. Seeing as how they’re popping out all over SF as the Trend of 2010 continues it’s hard to stand out amongst the crowd. Vega has managed to do this with the small attachment of Goody Goodie providing quality pastries and baked goods to compliment your morning/afternoon/evening coffee. Grab a coffee and go — on your scooter of course.
