Cool bar, decent prices, awesome backyard. Service is not that great, but whatever, it’s a dive. Also, last time I was here it smelled HORRENDOUS inside… to the point I could only stomach drinking out back. Blegh.

This place is a lot of fun. The barmaid Roary was especially charming, and made me feel very welcome there. I’ll be back.

This is the greatest place that America has ever made. Everyone here is an old mean homo. And they are drunk. And there is a beautiful back garden. And there are androgynous women. And one of them wears a baseball hat which features a cartoon of bacon. Be mean to someone and have a drink, then you will be bffs. It is cheers for queers.

Love the ambiance! However. I came here the other night for the 3rd time(every other time was great). I ordered a dirty Shirley cause I’m a bitch when it comes to drinking and I like my sweet stuff. The bartender was an entitled, pompous asshole who refused to make my drink. When I ordered it she said, «really? It’s so bad for you though.» And then called over another bartender to make it for me. I order bitch drinks all the time and have never had someone react that way. 1. Thanks for making me feel stupid. 2. Don’t be a bartender if you can’t handle making«annoying» drinks. 3. Alcohol in general is bad for you… The bartender was a female with black hair shaved on the sides and face piercings. She should be fired IMMEDIATELY lol

My people! Love the garden. Love the crowd! Love the pool table! LOVELOVELOVE don’t come here if you’re part of the new gut remodel love bugs, this ain’t the place. Here, we like things with a vintage touch. We value history. We love our City by the Bay and Wild Side West is a HUGEPARTOF S.F. History.

The décor was cool, the bartender was a bitch. It was lonely and simple I expected more and better hospitality.

This is a little garden gem in the middle of a great neighborhood off of Cortland. It is a perfect place to relax, have a drink or coffee, do a little work and enjoy being outside on a sunny day.

Cash only! Great neighborhood bar, decent craft beer selection and they have a pool table. So bonus for that. I heard the outside area is pretty nice too, but I didn’t see it since it was too cold for me.

I’m trying to get a hold of a manager or owner. I’m celebrating my birthday and bringing a bunch of friends to Wild Side West for drinks in a couple weeks. I want to hire a couple of Burlesque dancers and want to see if they could perform at the bar. The phone number on the website goes to an automated message but there is no voicemail box and the email I sent got bounced back :(

Best fuckin bar on Cortland, hands down! The bartenders are ALL very cool, the pours are heavy handed, great outdoor patio, and old movies always playing on the tv. It is rumored that the pool table used to belong to Janis Joplin. There’s a piano against the wall, and very interesting nudes hanging above it. It’s where I learned how to play piano by ear for the 1st time. This bar will always have a special place in my heart. I always meet great friends and interesting characters here. May you never go away. We await the return of Mr. Nancy from her surgery. Gotta love that salty gal! If you have an issue with the sometimes surly old gal bartenders here you don’t get the joke, you’re overly sensitive, or you are the joke. lol I hear this about my favorite bars all over town, and ya know what? It’s not them. IT’S YOU. Grow roots elsewhere. We are from here, and we ain’t goin anywhere, transplants! Find a Marina douche suck up bar that will cater to your fragile needy ass. Ya wanna stiff drink, be left alone, or socialize with the quirkiest, arty, locals than do. If ya don’t like them, WEDON’T LIKEYOU.

Came at night with the friendly Clark Kent bartender and the next day with the grouchy gal bartender. I don’t need someone to beg to be my friend so it doesn’t bother me when I don’t get small talk. Clearly I like this place and I’m straight. I love the old movies playing on TV, I love the backyard, we were upstairs, I like the sun on me while I sip a Whiskey Sour. Really cool inside with a pool table and really cool outside upstairs and downstairs. Met friendly chatty locals. I’ll be back.

Yayyy for Heather and Rory. Anita too, her book is fabulous. Rory’s antics are far too amusing to not return. Known John for quite some time and always good to see him working. Mike, ooh, aka Master Chef, provides the best of foods for all. Usually there’s a Hot Dog steamer with wienies, veggie ones too, sometimes hot links. This is simply a downright neighborhood bar that knows how to treat and keep their patrons. There’s a most peaceful backyard too, for all those who haven’t one, to enjoy. Plenty of comfy seating for when you feel need to «be on the sidelines» awhile. Can pass on the moldy oldies TV shows LOL, crowd very caring and kind, makes up for that. Easy, safe parking in a good community oriented area.

A civic treasure, a place to drink & socialize in a unique setting with professional, well made drinks served with panache and style. The kitche décor and ambiance engages the senses while you relax and unwind in this artistic & welcoming oasis in the City. I have been coming here for many years & I never cease to be amazed by the beauty of the surroundings and of the people who work here and frequent this: «Only in San Francisco» kind of bar.

One star, for the cool backyard… that’s it. Unless you’ve grown roots in this neighborhood bar, expect to be treated like dirt… um, no thank you that’s what is outside. Maybe sometime during the week you might find a decent bartender there, but on a Saturday afternoon you may come across dragon lady. She is just plain rude and obviously miserable with her station in life. Here’s a tip, don’t ask for a glass of water because she’ll just point to a plastic container at the back of the bar. Gross. Change is good, and when it comes to bars change tips well. I love the character of this place, but the service is so off putting I’d much rather pass and get a drink elsewhere. Go to Holy Water

Everything you want in a funky neighborhood bar. Friendly tenders, reasonable prices, banged up wooden floors, crazy eclectic décor all over the place, and a steady stream of folks who seem cooler than me, but not pretentiously cool, just«I am sorry I am just cool» cool. Plus the backyard garden is awesome. If you are strolling around in Bernal and need someplace to pop in for a drink or three, this is definitely the place.

Very divey kind of vibe. You walk in, and it’s dark and dank. Then you find your way all the way to the back and discover a little oasis in the backyard. Just a hodgepodge of benches and lawn chairs and outdoor furniture and swings surrounded by some random and nice landscaping. Any place that has outdoor seating like this is good in my book.

Olé Wild Side. Just up the hill and nestled in the perfect neighborhood for its demographic. Unpretentious, divey, interesting, and lively. This place has its share of regulars but they are never unwelcoming. The outdoor space is worth a visit on a nice day– sort of a beer garden feel. Lesbians do love their outdoor spaces. =) My only gripe would be with one consistently rude day time bartender. But hey! I guess everyone has their quirks!(Note to self: limit the small talk with said bartender.) This little eclectic place gets somewhat busy on weekend nights, trivia nights, etc. It can sometimes be too tight for a group. But if you arent opposed to snuggling up next to the lovely ladies of Bernal Heights and company. check out Wild Side!
