Two word~ish: F*cking A.(Apparently that’s not enough to be considered a review.) Continuing on: It is sad that this placing a closing down because this spot is true a gem. Chill ambience, good drinks, and most definitely great service(Shout out to Ethan and his crew). P. s. Get a nice buzz on.

Located inside Kazoku restaurant. They are doing a joint collab where Boba 8 is there on certain days for certain hours. Elton is super friendly and nice. He chatted with us for a sec, took our order, and brought our drinks . It was a just the right amount of sweetness mixed with the hoppy-ness from the Heineken beer. Flavors blended so well. Not sure it would taste good if blended the same way with a different brand beer(this is the Green Tea Heineken). The Barack Bobama is really yummy too! Came to drink after we ate dinner, and with the boba in the drinks, I really couldn’t have more than 1 even though I wanted to. I was so full! It’s cool to come for the experience and to try boba beer but I don’t think it’s something you can just drink a lot of at once. maybe more of like a «dessert» perhaps. That’s just my personal opinion. Price is affordable and not much more than a regular beer at a bar/tavern. Private lot on the side of the building. Enjoy!

Stopped by since I was in the area and wanted to finally try some of their drinks. Chose the heineken one — quite tasty! It definitely makes a great into the idea of alcoholic boba. The venue itself is quite nice and service is good. I recommend this place to anybody who is nearby!

I stumbled upon this place walking around after eating boiling point and I always wanted to try it so i convinced my friends that we had to go inside. It’s in the back of a sushi restaurant(a little weird but. Ok) We decided to go with the bobagasm cause it sounded good and it seemed to be one of the more popular ones. Drinks took about 10 minutes to make even though there were no other customers waiting. Maybe I tried to wrong thing here but the bobagasm was very very not tasty :( I’m a girl who likes my alcohol and I didn’t expect it to taste like any regular milk tea but I did think it would be yummy with a nice kick. Instead it was overly sweet, way too much baileys, not enough cream, and the boba inside was not good. Not to mention the drink was pretty lukewarm so I had to stir it around a while to get it cold. Sorry but I don’t think I’ll be coming back :(

Boba and booze are two loves of my life, but I was skeptical whether marrying the two would work. To my surprise, it’s not bad. Ordered the BruceLychee(lychee, boba, and soju). I found the combination of bitter and sweet quite odd initially, but as the buzz kicked in, I didn’t mind. Anything tastes okay when you’re intoxicated right? Overall, I give this place an A for creativity. Not sure if I’ll come back often, but I appreciate that Boba 8 took the risk in creating something new and exciting. Eating and drinking should be fun, and I did accomplish that here.

clever drink names and a unique new concept. the owner, elton is super personable and talkative. i got the bobagasm which everyone is crazy for, but it wasnt for me. i tried again with the barrack bobama and that drink seriously hit the spot. if youre like me and dont usually get milkly drinks and prefer something light and refreshing, skip the bobagasm and go for the bobama(blueberry mojito)!!

This place is really hidden. It’s actually inside the sushi restaurant Kozoku. I heard of boba 7 for a long time but never actually went. Its so much more convenient when there’s one I’m San Gabriel and my bf had a craving so I said why not. I felt a little weird about the seating arrangement since normally you’ll be really close to people you don’t know but since I went when it barely open at 5pm we didn’t have that problem. I really wanted to like the idea of boba and alcohol but so far I’m not a fan. I’m not sure if it’s cause I ordered the wrong drink or what. I got a bobagasm which has Kahlua and Irish cream but the alcohol taste was too overpowering for me. Elton the owner was really nice and tried to fix my drink but yeah he ended up making me a milk green tea. And indeed he does make a green milk tea Our service was excellent. Elton was super nice and he remembered my bf who he actually meet at boba 7 a year ago. I’ll definitely give a different drink a try next time.

Not bad. I came here on Sunday. It was tricky to find this since I didn’t realize it was inside a Japanese restaurant. I was using my IPhone to guide me to here and I kept walking past it until this wise looking asian man stopped me and asked me if I wanted alcoholic boba for which I said yes. He then guided me inside. The place itself is legitimately just a restaurant. I was expecting it to look like a boba shop maybe like Lollicup or a bar, but it didn’t look like either. The waiter led us to a simple table where we sat and gave us the drink menu. We ordered the Bobama and the Venusour. Don’t get the Bobama lol. It’s not the best. Overall, it was an interesting experience. I’ll probably come back but I’d like to try the Boba 7 in DTLA to compare.

Coming back from the Westside after a long day at work, I felt entitled to an alcoholic beverage. I didn’t feel like going to downtown, so I decided to keep it locally within the 626. I Unilocaled bars around my area, and the closest one listed was Boba 8. The first thing that caught my attention, which also caused me to read out loud, was the headline«Alcoholic Boba». It took me a minute to process because the idea was so stupid that it was great. I had to try it. A boba bar that makes boba drinks with alcohol. For some reason, I felt challenged to try this place. I googled mapped«Boba 8» and found the place to be right down the street I live on. I head over to the place and find out«Boba 8» is actually a mini bar housed within Kazoku Japanese Restaurant. I’ve driven past this place countless times on my way to work, and always blurted out«f*ck that place», assuming the quality without actually ever being inside or eating there. But I guess I was right. *Hater Alert, well, kind of. The following review stems from the deception and the raping of my palette. I cannot untaste what I drank. I blame myself for being so naïve. I really don’t know if this review should be for Boba 8, or Kazuko. It’s the same place. Sneaky Asian. If you ever come to this bar/restaurant, you have to take it for what it is. Pros The place is clean. Nicely laid out, but whoever designed the interior is bipolar. Workers are attentive. I never really had to ask for anything because the service was on point. Prices are redonkulous! It was way BELOW my budget for the night, which I am really happy about. Cons The type of people who come to Boba 8 are those who like to drink, but don’t know how to. It’s mostly for that one friend you know who turns beet red after a mixed drink of mostly 1 part alcohol to 2349879 parts cola. He/she turns purple and the party ends because you honestly think they are going to die. You spend the whole night comforting them, and passing them sips of water from a short glass. The drinks they serve tasted like butt. The only thing that made it bearable was the honey boba, but even that tasted like butt too. How is the«bartender» going to call himself a mixologist? Mix what? Mix two things that are good alone, and make something that taste like butt? All that shaking and stirring didn’t do shit. I ordered the Green Tea Heineken and Bobagasm. Since I only have two hands, two thumbs down. The drinks are nothing to get excited about. The names of the drinks of are more entertaining. BarackBobama? SpongeBoba? That made me pound on the table a couple times. I think the novelty of the idea, Alcoholic Boba, is interesting. It’s really playful, but that’s all what you’re paying for… the idea of it. People seem to love the place, and it’s doing well I guess. Maybe it could bring a larger crowd if it had its own space rather than being combined with Kazoku? Oh well.

Speakeasy for asian delicacy! Located at the back of Japanese restaurant. Don’t ask about where is BOBA8 to the waitress. Simply sit down and said you want to order drinks. She/he will handed BOBA8 menu to you. Boba + alcohol=happy hangout party. All drinks are great! I’m serious! If you’re not alcoholic, you could order virgin boba. My favourite is Bobagasm and Green Tea Heineken. Mangofett if you like fruity drink, it has lychee jelly. Virgin boba if you don’t want to have alcohol. I love the ambience of this place: japanese style, neat, bright and cozy. We could order sushi too. Casual atmosphere. Mostly asian guests. Easy free parking(at the back).

I love this place! I came here for the first time and their service is great. The waiters are so friendly and attentive. One of our groupies didn’t like his drink(spongeboba) because it was too watery and had no flavor. When we told the waiter he had it fixed up for us. Another friend got the green tea Heineken. He wasn’t too impressed but then again, it’s just beer. I love my mangofett and peachfett(build your own)!! It was absolutely perfect! It was basically a mango slush with some alcohol and boba. It tasted very very similar to the Las Vegas Fat Tuesday’s!(«: ** I would definitely come back again! I love this place!!! ** I think the only thing I’d wish to be changed is parking.(parking is horrible) but that can’t be changed. Just park in the back of the 99 ranch plaza next to the boba 8 parking lot.

Boba AND alcohol?! You know any 21+ Asian(or honorary Asian) has to try this. Hidden inside Kazoku near the 99 ranch market plaza. Parking can be a little crazy there but hopefully you get lucky. Go into Kazoku, let them know you want boba and it’s toward the back of the restaurant. You can also just go through the back door for more convenience. If you’re hungry, you can order from Kazoku’s menu as well so we ordered some rolls to enjoy with our alcoholic boba drinks. :) I ordered the Sponge Boba(basically a Pina Colada). My friend ordered the Barack Bobama(basically a blueberry mojito). The drinks average around $ 7 – 8 which is a little pricy for a boba drink, but we thought it was worth it. They are pretty big sizes and ours were actually strong, so you don’t have to order a second drink. If we didn’t have so much food, we probably would’ve gotten buzzed from these drinks because I was almost starting to feel it! However, we’re small girls so don’t be expecting to get drunk here if you drink a lot. Overall, I think Boba 8 has a great concept but would love it if they had more of the drink options that Boba 7 has. The menu is a little small with only a small page of options. They only serve the alcoholic boba drinks(or the virgin versions of those same drinks); bring the horchata boba please! And they’re only open Wed-Sun at night from 5pm to 11pm, so it’s a good option for older students and working professionals who just want to chill over a drink.

I wanted to try Boba 8 because I didn’t like the venue for Boba 7(dangy bar behind Thai restaurant). OCCASION: Reuniting with friends before they move PARKING: People should NOT be complaining about parking here. I hear there’s a small private lot, but I’ve never used that one before. There’s a humongous FREE parking lot shared with all the other restaurants/stores in the plaza with 99 Ranch Market. Sure it gets crowded, but still much better than dealing with one way streets and finding parking in DTLA for Boba 7… VENUE: LOVEIT! So glad I came here after the venue disappointment with Boba 7. It’s actually located inside of No 1 Kazoku, a Japanese restaurant. It’s nice because you can sit either at the high-chair tables, or the booths. I prefer the booths as the sofa cushion is much more comfy. You can also order food directly from the restaurant, which is what we did… I swear, it’s a scheme! I had not planned on eating dinner there, but it happened. DRINKS: This time I got the MangoFett, which was basically a mango slushie with lychee jelly, and I added boba for 25 cents. Yummyyy, and definitely stronger in alcohol content than the Green Tea Heineken I had last time, making me feel like the $ 8 was better spent. Also, its a good idea to finish the boba itself faster! When the drink came out, the boba was warm and chewy(decent average quality). At the end of the meal, I noticed it had hardened due to the icy drink. My friend got the BarackObama drink — tastes like blueberry mojito. I thought it was pretty good too. Didn’t really like the Bobagasm as much, as it contained Kahlua & Irish cream, a bit too sweet for me. OVERALL: Yes I would come back! I love that we were able to order sushi, yellowtail collar, and tempura as we sipped on our alchy boba drinks. A nice place to hangout with friends :)

Like a tapioca ball hiding at the bottom of a beverage, this little popup bar situated in the back of a Japanese restaurant is really a gem. The concept: A young motivated dude took a college project idea and made it a reality. Mixing the boba craze with alcohol. Two of my favorite things. It’s an easy win in my book. This little Thursday-Saturday pop-up bar is something we just stumbled upon while in the area, and it seems pretty popular. I can totally tell why. The drinks are insanely accessible — cocktails made with soju and boba/lychee. You can’t taste the alcohol, and they go down WAY too easy. They’re on the sugar-heavy side, so beware… unless you are a sweet tooth, use the less-sweet option they offer on the menu. The menu — it’s awesome. Drinks with names like #BarackBobama and #MangoFett dominate, and the descriptions are just as clever. Ex: «If you love America and blueberries, this is what you should order.» Ha. That drink is actually a blueberry mojito with boba. The popular drinks seem to be the #MangoFett, which is a mango margarita with lychee jelly(protip — have them sup in the lychee popping balls), and the #GreenTeaHeineken — a Heineken with green tea and honey boba. Everything I sampled was tasty, however again, since I don’t like sugar bomb drinks, I much prefer the reduced sweetness. Service is totally fine here… we were not wanting for drinks or assistance at any point, really. Prices are reasonable. And a couple of these will get the head swimming pretty fast… if not from the alcohol, then from the sugar. These drinks don’t fit my usual profile of brown+bitter+stirred, and I wouldn’t send any craft cocktail aficionados here on anything but a lark, but this is totally a great concept and when in the mood, it really hits the spot.

Located INSIDE Kazoku. Came here on Saturday night with four friends to find out how disappointing everything was. Our drinks were okay. It’s not mind-blowing, it’s not spectacular — it was just boba with a slight amount of alcohol. First of all… the service was INCREDIBLYSLOW… It wasn’t even crowded or understaffed! We sat down at 10pm and had to flag the waiter 15 minutes in. We ordered four drinks. and received our drinks 30 minutes later. I honestly tried really hard to give the mixologist/bartender the benefit of doubt, but he failed to win me over… it should not have taken 30 minutes to make four drinks. I got their«Bobagasm» which was $ 8 and tastes like regular boba milk tea with a hint of Kahlua. This also came in a very small glass and was the more expensive drink compared to the others. My friend’s BarackBobama tastes somewhat like a mojito… with boba. Their MangoFett was the best of the bunch, but it was slightly too sweet. Mehh experience, but it was probably an off day… and I was not impressed at all.

Care for a stay at a B & B? No, not Bed & Breakfast! Booze & Boobs, er, I mean Boba ;p In the heart of the SGV& in the rear of No. 1 Kazoku sushi restaurant, Boba 8 serves hard & virgin boba drinks. The limited menu showcases inventive drink names such as the Barack Bobama, Mango Fett & the Bobagasm. Each drink’s sweetness level can be customized to preference. Being a non-drinker, I had a Jasmine Milk Tea with boba. A large glass of refreshing goodness! Not too sweet, with chewy balls of honey boba soaking up the happiness. Perfect way to cool off on this scorcher of a night. I had the chance to sample the Green Tea Heineken & the Mango Fett. The Mango Fett was supersweet, with lychee jelly which can be substituted with honey boba. A fruity tropical treat, it was sweet up front with heavy notes of soju on the backend. For the Green Tea Heineken, I just tasted beer. I guess it’s the best of both worlds — the antioxidants of green tea, with the buzz & diet-busting calories of Heineken. Elton, the boba mastermind behind Boba 8, quickly crafted our drinks to quench our thirsts. Seating is at a long table with bar stools, if you’re not dining in at Kazoku. Service was friendly, with parking in a small private lot in the back. It’s one-way with exiting requiring a U-turn. Sorta ass backwards, but customers can also park at the 99 Ranch Plaza. A nice place to hang out, Boba 8 serves delicious boba drinks with or w/o alcohol. The large portions and delicious flavors are why I recommend checking out Boba 8 the next time you’re looking for something sweet with a kick. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

BOBAANDALCOHOL? This is the beginning of an asian version of a bar! «Hey where you wanna go drink tonight? A bar?» «Nah, let’s go get boba! Alcoholic boba!» So smart!!! :D This place loses 1 star for being very difficult to find and also not actually being its own place! However, it serves pretty decent, chewy, and SWEET boba! Definately worth the adventure of trying to find this place! This boba place isn’t its own place. It’s actually shared with a japanese restaurant called«No 1 Kazoku.» So if you guys want to find this boba place, just find this restaurant go inside, tell the host or hostess that you’re here for boba, then walk all the way down the aisle towards the end, grab a menu, from the«bartender» on the right, and sit anywhere you want! It seems like this restaurant and boba place work in conjunction with each other. Even though there are separate menus and are separate places according to Unilocal, you can sit anywhere and order anything together as if it were one business. The service is super friendly. Our waiter was so kind, nice, and patient. He described the drinks to us and our drinks were made pretty fast. Green Tea Heineken: one of their best and most popular ordered drinks here. I personally HATEHATEHATE beer, but this drink was pretty good! The mixture of beer and the green tea complemented each other very well. And the aftertaste of the chewy, sweet HONEYBOBA ended each sip very nicely! I loved it!!! Bobagasm: I ordered this drink because of the Kahlua and the Irish Cream added in! Very yummy! For all of you guys that love drinking Kahlua or Bailey’s with milk to make it taste like milk chocolate or coffee cream, GETTHISDRINK! Very delicious :) And the honey boba is always an extra nice touch at the end to chew on. Pros: –VERY friendly and nice service!!! –chewy, sweet, delicious honey boba –yummy teas –a choice of a nonalcoholic boba drink(but why even come here if you’re not here for the slight hint of alcohol? — great for kids or younger ones that wanna come with though!) Cons: –difficult to find –kind of pricey($ 6 – 8 per drink) –cannot order«take-out» since there’s alcohol in it –not strong enough!!!(I wish they made their drinks with a bit more alcohol ;) imagine how much more fun it would be to get drunk off boba!)

Boba 8 is little sister of Boba 7. They share some menu but is more limited, the plus side is located in the heart of San Gabriel Valley when most Asian live. Free parking and much easier to commute than the downtown location. This one located inside No.1 Kazokua, can be confusing for first timer. If you happened to grave for sushi and want to enjoy alcohol boba cocktail together is a nice combination. There’s pretty of tablet here and often not a problem except like Friday and Saturday night when is likely a wait. Just like the other location, the boba menu here had interesting and creative name, I ended up order the MangoFett. It was a huge margarita with lynchee jelly but I request to add Honey Boba which was only 25 cents more. The drink was pretty good and wasn’t that strong but portion is so big it was about the same alcohol content as typical cocktail. None of the cocktail in the menu use any milk tea or more important lack the favorite Horchata and Nutella from Boba 7. Overall, I do like this place and was nice to see finally some new approach to boba. I do wish they add rest of Boba 7 cocktail drink into the menu and more important extend the day from daily not just Thursday to Sunday Night. I would definite need to visit Boba7 in near future to make a better comparison.

Don’t underestimate the amount of alcohol content in these drinks. Came here on a Friday afternoon in hopes of something new to do between lunch and dinner. Thought I would check this place out now since it’s closer to home and since I have yet to try the DTLA location. Located inside of Kazoku, just walk straight back to behind the sushi bar and there is Boba 8. They got just one long, tall table to share and maybe 3 – 4 seating at the bar. I went for the VenuSour and I could definitely taste the alcohol. The boyfriend got the Bobablast and that was by far the strongest alcoholic boba you can imagine. However, it was a well mixed between the typical boba drinks you would get and alcohol cocktails you would order at a club. Service was friendly. We got checked up on a couple of times to ask how the drinks were. Prices ranged from $ 7 – 9 which is pretty decent, and in my opinion, on the cheaper side. We just parked in the lot in the back. American Express not accepted, but Visa and MasterCard welcome.

I was thrown off a little by this little sign up front that says Boba 8. Boba 8 is basically located in a sushi place called«Kozoku». By night, part of the bar is transformed into Boba 8. It is in their soft opening phase. Service was bad here, but I do understand they have a small area to operate and it’s their soft opening. They don’t even have a credit card machine at the bar. Most of the time, they would have someone pick the cards up and make a mad dash to the register in the front to charge. It’s like a motor speed way in here! I went here with a friend last night to see what the fuss was about with these drinks. All I can say is that it’s a brilliant concept, but in my opinion, I don’t think boba and alcohol should mix. When I hear or read the word boba, I envision it to be just purely a boba joint, not a bar. I thought the drinks were okay. We ordered: * SpongBoba(piña colada flavor). Not really a piña colada fan, but my friend liked it. Didn’t really taste much of the alchol in this one. $ 7 dollars get you a sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea! *Bobagasm– loved the well balanced drink of irish cream, kahlua liquor, and honey boba. It’s a bit on the sweet side, but luckily I asked for 75% half sweet! If you guys are coffee drinkers and love the taste of an Irish Carbomb… this is for you. For one extra dollar $ 8, you get an bobagasm! Didn’t feel it, but loved the name of the drink! I believe this place deserves a second chance. Hopefully, the owners read our comments and make a change for the better. Nothing but blue skies from here on out!
