Ordered two burritos, one Carne asada and one all vegetarian, since my wife is vegetarian. The Asada was pretty good, but the food took much longer than expected and when we got it home, found out BOTH burritos had meat in them. Even though they wrote«Vege» on my wife’s. We won’t be returning again.

Authentic, easy, casual Guadalajran food. Arguably best in San Gabriel. Family run, soccer lovers.

I came to this small hole in the wall restaurant because I was craving menudo. They serve it with different hominy colors red or traditional white. You can also have a green or traditional red base soup. It was great to know that you can have it in different variations with no hominy, little or a lot of hominy. I would most definitely go back.

Was looking up some restaurants around my job and saw good reviews for this place. Well I am glad to say I am happy I went with the great reviews this spot is definetekh a small whole in the wall never would you think this small rustic spot will have one of the best tortilla chips and salsas I have tried I love their tacos de carne desebrada and enchiladas I recommend this spot for all those in the San Gabriel area. And not forget the yummy Jamaica Juice I had was so refreshing and not as bland and sweet as other places !!

Omg this place is awesome!!! I have to say when you first walk in it looks old and runned down. The menus are falling apart and it looks like you are in someone’s living room. However, when the food comes out its heaven. Some of the things we have ordered are the Menudo, Caldo de Res, Carne Asada plate, Nachos and burrito. All were exceptional authentic mexican home cooking! We usually never spend over $ 30 for all four of us. Some of the extra great things are the ladies who work there, Ana and Patti. I also like that they have a big flat screen TV. It’s usually a very quiet meal for me because my kids are glued to the TV while they eat. I don’t get too many quiet meals. Go here its delicious!!!

Little hole in the walls are the best! Came across this place by accident. Plain unassuming interior and exterior, but great Mexican home cooking. Very friendly staff, attentive but not overbearing. I spilled salsa on my shirt and the server brought me an extra towel with cleaning solution to dab it. I judge any Mexican food place by 3 things… the chips, the salsa, and the rice. All were great! Will definitely go back again.

I happened to stumble along this place and I am glad I did. Don’t let the inside appearance fool you. Staff is very friendly and the food is great. I love going to mom and pop places because of the originality in their dishes. This is authentic home style cooking from Jalisco, Mexico. This cooking reminds me of my Great Grandma & Grandma’s cooking. Everything is made from scratch; so please allow them time to cook your food. this is not a place for a quick grab and go. Great food takes time. On this trip I had the Guisado de chile verde it was authentic in flavor you can even see the small tomatillos in it. A classic spin of my family’s rich traditional chile verde. Again parking is street only and signs are not visible outside so don’t pass this up. originality at its finest humble family with succulent home style dishes. Come and check it out! Hours currently are; MONDAYTUESDAY9AM-6PM Closed WEDNESDAY TH9AM-9PM FRI –SAT8AM-9PM SUNDAY8AM-8PM

I’ve always seen this little restaurant while driving up and down Del Mar Ave, always wondered how good it was. Well, I finally went there, for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised. Small restaurant with great food. Next time, I’ll have to try something off the menu. I will definitely come back to try something else. Clean restrooms and parking on the street.

This is literally a spot that you drive pass and think hmmm maybe not– but glad when you finally go in. Their rice and beans are Mexican(not American Mexican). Tortillas are homemade and fresh. When we went in the ladies in the kitchen all looked like your aunts gathered around the stove but with hair nets. My husband had the Carne Asada and was very happy. I had the albondigas which was filling. So why the 4 instead of 5? There were two men there obviously family watching the Spanish version of deadliest predators during the meal :(

I love their tortilla chips, salsa and I always order carne asada plate. They cook the rice so perfectly and they’re not so expensive. Yum yum yum!!!

An old school kind of place; it wasn’t the best Mexican food we’ve ever had, but the place has a certain charm and the customer service is good; we liked the food enough to eat nearly all of it; apparently, the place has been in the neighborhood for quite sometime, so that in itself speaks volumes. If you’re coming during the summer, be advised that they don’t have A/C; however they prop open all the doors and windows and there was a suitable breeze.

What a great visit to this cute restaurant. I was hungry, read some reviews, and stopped by to pick up a burrito. It was quiet in there aside from some of kids who seemed like they were part of the restaurant owner’s family. While I waited, the server brought me some nachos and salsa. I had the combo plate – burrito with rice, beans, and a small salad. It was tasty, but don’t try to save it to savor every morsel. I took it ‘to go’, so by the time I got down to the last bites a few hours later, the burrito was a little soggy. Not a problem though – it was still tasty!

If you’re searching for authentic mexican food with that home-cooked taste, then Del Mar Café is the place to go. Woke up this morning and felt a little out of it so I stopped by for the Albondigas soup with tortilla and an order of chicken quesadila. The soup was stupdendous. Filled with fresh vegetables and plenty of meatballs. The chicken quesdila was freshly made and the chicken was tender and juicy. Don’t expect fancy decors or fast service since the kitchen is family runned. They also have a big screen tv perfect for watching sports. This place is a true hole in the wall and you definitely gotta try the $ 1 tacos on fridays. Don’t worry they’re affordable but definitely sanitary still. Items I’d recommend getting is chicken quesdilla and lengua tacos.

The chicken enchiladas and albondigas was absolutely delicious. Horchata was a bit sweet and watery. This may be my new favorite joint.

I drive by the place every day and hbe wanted to check it out. Finally did and am happy I did. Was the only person in the place, which looks to be a converted house. The prices are very reasonable. I had the shrimp soup and it was very good. I would recommend for anyone that like little holes in the wall with good price and an authentic Mexican feel. I’ll be back.

Yes this is a hole-in-the-wall. Prices recently went up but are still descent. Sometimes the staff speaks English. When they don’t the order could be wrong so make sure they clearly understand what you want. Most patrons, if any, are Spanish speaking. More of a local hang out for old guys that just want to hang out and drink a beer. Food is okay, better if you cover it up with red or green sauce. They do give you the customary tortillas chips. These are really salty, just the way I like them. Food comes out slow(even when there isn’t any customers) so be prepared to wait.
