pretty good gyros. Even the chicken is very flavorful. Although it has a little too much turmeric for my liking. The lamb is pretty darn tasty and flavorful! The white sauce is very good. you can never have enough of it :-) If it is your first time, I would suggest to go with the lamb. In comparison to the halal guys(the de facto standard) this is a decent replacement(I also would like to say the halal guys san jose branch is nowhere close to the NYC one). However, with halal guys expanding the quality and taste is not what it was a couple years ago. If you have or havent tried the halal guys, go for this place. The food is tasty and honest.

Good stuff but still no where close to be as good as «The Halal Guys»! Compared to other restaurants though the food is great. Could use more meat(even on the combo platter). I personally didn’t like the«curry touch» to the meat though. Unilocal says 7 but they close at 6 pm,(at least on Wednesday), so call before you go.

Just got the Chicken over rice here. It was a bit smaller than I expected for the price. It comes in a half size to go box. Mine came with more rice than anything else with a thin layer of chicken. The rice and pita were great, but the chicken was a little dry. Wish they had sauce to go as I didn’t want to sit there and eat.

I’m a real big fan and supporter of this street vendor. I think every time I eat a plate of mixed chicken and lamb with their phenomenal basmati rice, it just gets better and better. I’m a huge fan of Halal Guys in NY, I wish I could remember how great it tasted. Luckily, the South Bay has a shop opening at the Curtner Plant and Caviar is now delivering it straight to your door. If you are like myself, one of the unlucky ones that can’t get an order through, I highly recommend you stop by Agha’s Gyro Express, located a block up from La Vic’s on 2nd street! It never disappoints me!

So good!!! We waited about 15 minutes. But, it was seriously worth the wait! The meat was perfectly seasoned! The sauces were amazing! Prices were great!

The food is bomb, but I feel like the portion is not that good for the price of just a wrap because I was still a bit hungry after finishing mine. I learned the over rice combo is better for future experiences and enjoy it every so often but the price could be a bit lower for a cart style gyro shop in the middle of parking lot.

Addiction. Fixation. Craving. Jones. Different words, but all with the same meaning: a longing to have/want/need something. We all know the feeling as the object of our fixation enters our mind―your eyes dilate, breath quickens, mouth salivates and mind starts to go numb as all you can do is think about it. Agha’s Chicken and Lamb Rice Plate is all I can think about lately. The way the meat melts in your mouth; the firm, chewy and slightly greasy extra-long brown rice grains; topped with that creamy, but not too heavy white sauce causes a flavor explosion in my mouth that makes me go into shark mode. My eyes roll into the back of my head, as my wrist flings clumps of nirvana into my mouth at a pace so rapid that it’s quickly gone. And then, the sadness kicks in… Gone?! How?! Where? Who??? My tummy is full, and my hankering is quenched―for now… But soon the itch will be looking to get scratched, and I’ll have to find a way to get here. I’m sure at some point I’ll find a new food to obsess over, but in the meantime my Monkey’s name is Agha, and Agha is always hungry…

My coworkers & I decided to try this place after driving by numerous of times. We got there around 11:40ish and there was no wait, which was perfect. I got the chicken over rice and the food came out quickly! By 12PM, the lunch crowd came and it was busy. I wouldn’t say it’s like The Halal Guys in NYC but it will do. The portion was good. The hot sauce was tasty, but be warned, less is more. I consider this a hidden gem in DTSJ and highly recommend it. Note: $ 0.75 charge for credit/debit card!

I visited NYC several years ago and instantaneously fell in love with the Halal food that was near the hotel that I stayed in. Needless to say, I am quite skeptical about trying Halal food outside of New York. My cousin had mentioned that the owner of the food truck has a brother who sells Halal food in New York. I was quite excited to try it. My cousin and I showed up at the truck rather late in the afternoon and I was thoroughly disappointed that I missed out on their chicken over rice and settled for the lamb over rice. It was one of the best meals I had in San Jose. The rice was cooked perfectly, mixed with the lamb and rice, topped with their homemade sauce made for an entirely delicious meal. I only had the lamb over rice, but I can guarantee the rest of the food is delicious.

After my trip to NYC I was wondering where I could get my random cravings for halal food trucks. I was surprised to see one in DTSJ. It can be hard to find(it’s sometimes not there during listed hours) but when it’s available I certainly recommend it. They provide a table(and canopy if it might rain). The meat is juicy and goes well with the rice/salad/bread that comes with. The gyros and the rice plates are both good. The gyros have more sour cream(?) in them, but the rice adds some flavor that the gyro doesn’t have as well. The staff is very friendly and I definitely recommend checking them out.

I was craving Halaal ever since my trip to Philly where I tried Halaal food cart food for the first time. Ordered lamb over rice.($ 8.00 and 50cents for a drink.) SO good!!! Glad I found this little gem!!! It’s right next to the McDonald’s on 2nd street. I will definitely visit again and bring a few of my coworkers!!!

Had an intense craving for halal guys then i saw that this was nearby to my school and decided to give it a try. Honestly, really love the chicken i got, it was tender and served warm. If i were to compare it to halal guys, which i shouldn’t but we all would, the sauce was just alright. Not the creamy tangy ones that HG had but close enough! However, i do love love LOVE the pita bread that they had on the rice plate, so goooood! It was fluffy and a little on the savory side, paired it with the rice and chicken… #WIN

Don’t expect much as it’s just served from a food truck with a few tables and chairs outside, but the food is good! Don’t knock on it until you try it. My boyfriend and I ordered the mix chicken and lamb over rice with extra white sauce and the lamb gyro. The meats were juicy and not dry at all and the rice was plenty flavorful. The gyro was super big, but a bit messier to eat. Next time, I’d come back just for the rice plate. I love that they give you extra bottles of hot sauce and white sauce while you dine there. The portion is also really big so it justifies the price for me. I’ll definitely be back! Craving it again as I type this.

Whether fair or not, every halal chicken and lamb over rice place is going to get compared to the gold standard of Halal Guys. And with Halal Guys making their inroads over to California, I have even less qualms about making that comparison. Quite frankly, no place is going to compare to Halal Guys… you just can’t replicate that amount of food, price, and tastiness anywhere else. But Agha’s is a decent substitute if you don’t have another chicken/lamb over rice option. Chicken and lamb were both pretty tasty, although you really need to pack it on with the white sauce to truly get to that next level. Wasn’t a fan though of how much rice there was in comparison to the meat… too much meat, not enough rice. Plus considering how much it was, I’m kinda expecting a little more.

This place converted me into a gyro and lamb eater! Simple menu choices: lamb or chicken gyros or lamb or chicken over rice. They also have salad too but I rarely see people order it. ***Their white sauce is THEONE*** it’s what keeps me coming back!!! It’s not sour like other tatziki sauces I’ve tried, it’s more ranch like but definitely not ranch. Adding tapatio to the white sauce also just puts it above and beyond!!! The only reasons I don’t give this place five stars is cause orders take long unless you call in advance, parking it tough, and sometimes the food can be a little greasy but I still love it! I highly recommend the lamb gyro or the chicken over rice.

Good customer service, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about this place. The Food: I ordered a #4, which is a lamb over rice plate. The plate came with salad with too much dressing, greasy rice, greasy lamb, and pita bread that was fluffy but was average in taste. Due to the excessive amount of grease, the food was bland, so I had to add a lot of hot sauce for flavor. Regarding the portion size, they give you a good amount of food for your dollar, so that’s a plus. While I didn’t enjoy the food, the customer service was great for a food truck. The employees welcomed every customer ahead of me with a smile, and worked relatively fast in the kitchen. I don’t see myself ever going back for a second try, but this place has a ton of good reviews, so maybe this type of street food just isn’t for me.

I give 3 stars for their food but bump it up one star for their service. Finding this place open felt almost harder than finding a live unicorn. My boyfriend and I have attempted to try Agha’s 4 times before we had finally tracked down the cart. The first time, we tried at night and arrived to an empty lot at 6pm only to find that they’ve run out of food and gone home. We tried again the next day(Saturday) at noon and they still were nowhere to be found. We then tried again last night at 5:30pm only to find that they were closing up for the night. Even though Unilocal says that they are open til 7, they told us that during daylights savings, they usually stick around til 5:30. We’ve even tried calling them every time we’ve come but no one ever picks up. They remembered us from the night before so they comped us a free meal which we really appreciate. We were FINALLY able to feast our hands on their chicken and rice today. Everyone compares it to the Halal Guys in NY but I’ve never tried Halal Guys so I can’t say if its comparable or better. I came with really high expectations because I came back from Portland and had chicken over rice from one of their trucks and it was the most magical thing ever. Nobody ever talks about how amazing the food trucks in Portland are, so i imagined this place or Halal Guys must be WAY better. Unfortunately I thought the food here was just okay. It was good and had its own unique taste but not what i expected. There are lots of complaints about how small the portions are but I thought it was a good amount that was able to get me comfortably full. I’m still on a hunt for something comparable to the chicken over rice I had from the Portland trucks and I guess this will do for now.
