We had Brother Baby’s BBQ cater an event for our staff. Wow! Wow! Wow! The food was amazing. Everyone loved it! From planning the menu, the pricing, to the delivery and especially the food, it was awesome and our event was a huge success. Thank you Brother Baby’s BBQ!

At one of the Moveable Feasts a couple months back, I decided to try this BBQ joint. I arrived 2.5 hrs into the event so before ordering, they told me they had run out of Ribs & Chicken. Not a problem since it was my intention to try the brisket coupled with the mac n cheese and jalapeño cornbread muffin. The food overall was somewhat underwhelming. I would rate the 3 items in this order #1. Jalapeño Cornbread muffin: sweet n heat always a good combination #2. Mac N Cheese; It was okay but give me the Kraft Box Mac N Cheese instead #3. Brisket: Meh, eh; a tad dry, it was crying for some seasoning Now it might have been that I was late to the event to try the food which could explain some of these shortcomings. But food missing the mark in the flavor dept. or toddler size portions for a $ 15 plate(my photo will back me up) I think not. It was a good thing I got grub from other trucks as my fallback.

10÷1÷15(update): Since my last visit I’ve actually gone to quite a few BBQ restaurants ranging from Texas-style bench seating places to even a fancy schmancy type owned by a popular trendy dude. So, fueled by some more experience I figure it’s time to do a reevaluation, and I was really hoping to be able to raise their score since I think the people working the truck are quite nice and good folks. But alas, I find their food still pretty average. 1. Two-Item Meal Baby Back Ribs(¼ rack) &BBQ Chicken(4oz) $ 11.99: 1a. Ribs: Not sure if they changed their preparation from the last time I had it, but I thought there might have been more smoke before. But today’s was notably absent of any significant amount of smoke. Zero smoke ring either. Also, it seems they now prep the ribs by pre-slicing them, and I can see that they’ve been left out for a while like that since the edges are brown and staling. K, all that aside, I still love their rub, and the ribs are perfectly done. So, I guess it all cancels out. Oh, and ¼ rack = 3 ribs. Not bad. And I will note again – served lukewarm so it never reaches the highest taste potential. 5⁄10. 1b. Chicken: Hmm, not bad. Mine was a big thigh, deboned, deskinned. To me the deskinning is a cop-out for truly great BBQ since that means that the finish and crispness of the skin does not need to be managed. Besides, skin just plain tastes good, and adds a little extra moistness. Anyway, the flavor was good, and again, pretty well done. Not dry. Not the most moist either, but good enough. And like the ribs, nearly zero smoke if any. Maybe a tiny hint, but it’s hard to tell. Love the rub though. Good amount of food. 5⁄10. 1c. Coleslaw: As I noted before, their coleslaw is actually pretty good. A little spicy, and with nice size leaves. Today’s was a bit stale though, but was still okay. Not as good as last time’s though. 6⁄10. 1d. Mixed Green Salad: Just some lettuce with red cabbage. Not much effort here. Average freshness. You get to use vinaigrette or ranch. 3⁄10. 1e. Sauces: They got 4 different ones, standard and hot versions of a sweet and not-so-sweet sauce. I only got the hot ones, which didn’t have too much heat, but tasted really good. Really nice rounded flavors. Could use some spice and lots more heat, but overall really good sauces. 7⁄10. I think this combo is a good amount of food for ~$ 12(given this is a truck). I was happy with that. 3⁄5 #truck #bbq #americanbbq #bbqribs #bbqchicken

Got my BBQ fix today. Glad it was this truck. I had the pulled pork sandwhich with potato salad and mac and cheese. Everything seemed to be made from scratch and it was all delicious. I ate the whole thing before I remembered to take a photo. I always do that. The pork was tender and flavorful, I didn’t need much of their hot California BBQ sauce, but that itself was a winner. The coleslaw paired well and it was not heavy on the mayo flavor. Potato salad had olives and I love them for doing that. Their presentation of condiments and utensils were very clean and neat. Most trucks forget that presentation is important. I will look forward to when they come back to my work.

All the mobility of a food truck with all the wait of a restaurant. Not designed to handle a large group. At a high school event and it took more than 15 minutes to move 5 people in line. In that time it looked like it was another 30+ minutes to get your order. The food may be good but you might want to considering ordering it for the next meal and not this one. Get in line for dinner and order for breakfast, etc… Looked around back to see if they were slaughtering the animals right there(taking they«local food movement» to an unnecessary extreme). Alas that wasn’t it…

5 stars for the hot link sandwich. Hands down. Highlight of our meal. But the other things fell short. Friendly staff, great thick spicy bbq sauce. Yum.

First timer and tried their brisket/chicken combo with mixed greens and porn&beans. They unfortunately ran out of Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad which is understandable, but was really disappointing… Mixed greens was refreshing, pork & beans is bacon and beans. I hate bacon, LOL. I thought it would be just soft pork meat or something of that sort. Brisket was soft and didn’t fall completely apart like most places. I tried two mild sauce, one is better than the other I just forgot what the sauce was called. Chicken wasn’t great, I usually enjoy BBQ chicken but this was a bit dry and not as flavorful. I probably would recommend ribs and brisket combo. Would I return? Maybe not.

Since my two star review, service and food has really turned around. I’ve received seemingly larger portions for the cost and service has been alright. Huge improvements.

After waiting 15 minutes for my pulled pork coleslaw sandwich with sides of potato salad and cornbread, they called my name and the guy at the window told me they were out of potato salad and cornbread. He also said they were out of coleslaw and if I’d like ribs as my sides or pumpkin pie. I asked if my pulled pork would come any coleslaw at all in the sandwich, he said yes a little, so I went ahead kept my order of pulled pork and side of ribs. When I got my food, I was disappointed to find only a few strands of cabbage on top of the pulled pork. It lacked the taste and texture contrast needed to make the sandwich taste like a real pulled pork sandwich instead of a really bland sloppy joe. I guess they really scraped the bottom of the pail for my slaw because liquid from the slaw saturated the buns making it impossible to eat as a sandwich. I took a few bites and thought the pulled pork itself was very bland. It tasted more like pork stew than BBQ. Their BBQ sauce(which was way too watered down) turned my lunch into mush. I ate some of the pulled pork meat because I was hungry, but tossed it in the garbage after a few forced bites. The ribs had some salt seasoning but it desperately needed BBQ sauce with some kick. I will not be back

Brother Baby’s BBQ had no lines today nada. most ever in line:1 so different from 2 weeks ago. got in line early(to beat the rush). got the Q, couldn’t eat it. ribs flavorless, briskets not tender, texture like jerky. left it and went to look for better eats… locale: OTG: san jose evergreen(5÷30÷15) eats: boneless brisket(3 oz) & baby back ribs(¼ rackk) w/2 sides(14.99 + tax) only truck that charged tax. other trucks didn’t charge or noted tax included. –boneless briskets: dry, tasteless, chewy 2 stars –baby back ribs: tender, tasteless deliberately didn’t add sauces, still not a hint of hickory smoke, not even subtle –mac & cheese, cheesy, complex flavoring –southern potato salad, spicy, tasty: 4 stars quote from brother bbq website: «our savory fresh spin on southern potato salad» *comment from owner: «.but it’s not southern…»… ok, it still tastes good whatever it is or isn’t. bbq sauces only flavoring, used sparingly, sauce flavors diluted. crumbs: –not a good value for mains. 2 stars. –wouldn’t repeat even with a discount…

This is a pretty solid truck. I got the brisket and ribs plate with a side of coleslaw and potato salad. The ribs were good but the meat didn’t fall right off the bone. The brisket was better than the ribs but still could’ve been more tender. The real stars were the sides. It was easily one of the best coleslaws I’ve ever had. I prefer minimal dressing on the coleslaw, and theirs was exactly that. The flavor was insane. The potato salad was also great! It tasted like a homemade potato salad and I loved it. I probably wouldn’t get a meal from this truck again, but definitely some boxes of the sides.

Just tried them at the«Off The Grid» festival in Palo Alto. They seemed to offer more substantial fare than the other trucks, and we were hungry so we gave them a shot. We ordered the Baby Back Ribs and liked that we got a half rack each with two small sides, certainly adult sized meals for hungry adults, but they are a bit expensive at $ 16 for a ½ half rack(the sides we tried were: veggie beans, Corn bread, Potato salad and Mac-n-cheese). The ribs were Ok, some were hot so cold. Some were super tender, yet the next one was tough enough that I had to tear the meat off the bone. This is usually inconsistent for ribs. The hot sauces(they offer two mild and hot in both Louisiana and California style, for a total of four) are OK but not especially notable for any particularly appealing flavor profile. I could not tell that the sauces were gourmet or even homemade in any way. The potato salad had quite a bit of cayenne powder in it, which did not make up for the bland(unsalted) potatoes. It wasn’t appealing and I suspect that it was a cooking mistake but obviously it was not tasted when it was finished so they lose a star for lack of quality control. Corn bread was the best of the sides we tried, with a nice balance of corn and jalapeño, being noticeable but not hot. The mac-n-cheese tasted good and was properly cooked(the pasta was a bit soft but sill acceptable) but the cheese coating looked clumpy/lumpy and had poor mouth feel. I suspect that it was mishandled by overheating or poor cheese selection. I also noticed that the sauces were in squeeze bottles, which is great but they just sit on the sit in direct sun, not in an ice bath as they should be, so I was worried that they were picking up bacterial colonies as they sat thee exposed. Service was excellent, both the order taker and the person assembling the plates were professional, helpful, friendly and super fast. I appreciate both their effort. At these prices I expect gourmet food, its easy to get this much food much cheaper so I think hat this company really need to focus on their flavors and quality control to play i the gourmet price range.

The food here is REALLY good! I’m giving four stars instead of five because, while this is very tasty stuff, it doesn’t quite have the authentic down south barbecue flavor that I crave — juicy ribs with smoke penetrating the meat and sauce seared into the surface with a snappy bite. Ribs were yummy and fell off the bone. Brisket pretty much fell apart(I guess I do prefer both with a little more bite). Hot links were spicy and snappy — five stars for those alone! Jalapeño cornbread was great, as was the sweet potato pie(although I do miss the crust). Way to go, brothers!

This is by far the best BBQ I have ever had in my life! The meat falls off the bone and the brisket is just plain YUM! Everything is made from scratch. The cole slaw and potato salad are phenomenal. It takes a minute to get your food but so worth the wait. I would drive miles to go find this truck ;)

These guys came out to our work for lunchtime. Every person I work with that purchased food raved about their lunch and asked me when would the truck be coming back. Didn’t matter if it was brisket or chicken or ribs… everyone said their lunch was awesome. They had ran out of Mac n Cheese that day, so I didn’t get to try it, but am looking forward to next time! Good stuff and good prices!

Tried this truck two nights ago and was simply content. Ribs I rate a generous 7, brisket a 6, and chicken a 5. Sides are all mediocre to my tastes and not bad at all but their sauces are what sealed the deal and saved this review from a bad one, and please note that my ratings aren’t low, I’ve just had better. :)

I am SO happy this truck opened shop here in Milpitas. Yay for more lunch options! I was a little weary of all the boba shops opening in the area and was ecstatic to see something different. My group and I caught them at the old Mervyn’s parking lot on E Calaveras today and we are so happy we did. We will probably make it a weekly thing to visit this place because the food is so damn good! I’ll probably be dreaming of it later tonight. Set-up: They take your order from a little table out front with menus and process your payment there. I actually prefer this method because my voice doesn’t carry too well and it makes for awkward situations when I have to yell my order on my tip toes to a person inside a food truck. They take cash, card, and will soon accept bitcoin in a few weeks! Menu: All around really good menu. They offer 1 and 2 item combo plates with a choice of two sides and cornbread. You can also order sides separately and they also have pumpkin pie for dessert. Prices range from $ 11-$ 15-ish dollars for the combos. Good portions of everything. My group ordered the combos, but I’ll definitely be back to try some more stuff on the menu though! Food: — Brisket: Drool worthy. So tender and juicy and great flavor. Probably will be my go-to. — BBQ Chicken: Everything about it was great! Meat was tender and came apart easily from the bone. — Hot link: Pretty good, but I think I’ll stick to my brisket. — Potato Salad: TODIEFOR. My favorite side. It was really delicious and didn’t make me feel like I was eating pure mayo. Really tasty! — Pork and Beans: I love their version of this dish. Well cooked, rich flavor with a big piece of pork on top. Yummy! — Pumpkin pie: SOSOGOOD. Comes in a little round foil container and it’s the perfect portion. — Cornbread: WOW. I’m usually not a fan of cornbread, but I was a big fan of this one! It had jalapenos in it! Soooo good! Sauces: –They have 4 different kinds: California and Carolina with mild and hot versions. I tried the Carolina hot and was extremely happy with my choice. It had a really nice kick to it and I couldn’t help but dunk all my meat into it. The sauces are out on a table and you can put them into take-home containers. Service: They’re really friendly guys. The cook was really happy to see we enjoyed his food. We got our food pretty quick too! TL;DR: Pretty amazing BBQ. I can tell this place will be a popular lunch/dinner option for people in the area. Website:
