Happy Hour is really the only reason to go to this place. They have decent drinks and appetizers for a decent prize when it’s happy hour. The bartenders always seem to be nice. But waiting for a table and service I could have done without.

This is based solely on the happy hour as I find the actually menu food to be quite ewwie. Happy hour, I like the strawberry margaritas and they’re a good size. Sometimes they can be pretty strong and then sometimes you’re just drinkin a slushie, but for 3 bucks, I’m not complaining. Also, the appetizers are pretty good along with the free chips and salsa which is actually pretty damn good. It’s a good happy hour to go to. It can also get pretty crowded and you just might run into people you know

Can I put negative stars??? This was probably the worse service I’ve had in a very long time! Let’s just say, we were being served by the manager, who disappeared! then had to ask 3 – 4 waiters and waitresses to get different things for us, and all of them forgot what we asked for! The food was ok, not the best. and when we ordered the fajitas, we didnt get tortillas! It took at least 10 minutes for the tortillas to come! Reading this you probably think it was a busy night, but it wasn’t! The restaurant was pretty empty, maybe like 5 tables. I dont recommend coming here.

I went to Chevy’s for a casual dinner with my girlfriend tonight. Our server, Maria, was very attentive and friendly. We used a coupon that allowed us to have one combo meal and get the other for free, which made it a decent money-saver. Pros: Food was good, and it was easy to change details of our meal(for example I switched an enchilada for the sweet corn side). Service is fast, so you can be in and out in 40 min, but still have a sit-down meal. Cons: I asked the waitress to make a custom price, but instead she just charged me for 3 items, even though my substitute item was much cheaper. There’s a really great happy hour for margaritas, but it is only available in the cantina and not in the main restaurant, but the cantina gets full super quick so that’s not convenient.

Not sure why this place got such low ratings! Ok, the food isn’t THAT great, but if you come for happy hour, it is awesome! I love their $ 3 pomegranate margaritas on the rocks! It does have that puckery tartness to it, but I like that :) You can also get it blended. If you do decide to get the food, the nachos are HUMUNGO! Defintely enough for 2 – 4 people depending on how hungry you are. The buffalo wings were meh. Nothing special, but nothing bad. The tacquitos were actually really good. The dipping sauce though was a little odd considering that the tacquitos are more Southwestern with the salad it sits on top of and the sauce is more like sweet and spicy Asian flavors. Definitely will be back for HH!

This Chevy’s is a hidden gem. Not only does Chevy’s have one of the best happy hours around — $ 3 for margaritas, $ 3 for HUGE appetizers, Free chips/salsa — but this one is never crowded. It is a great place to find easy parking, have some great food and drinks, and then walk to Santana Row for a night on the town. The serivce here has always been excellent, and they have a weekly drawing to win a free party for you and 6 friends. I won. Epic

I know it’s a chain and most will shake their fingers at me for going here despite all of the more authentic mom and pop offerings in the area, but you know what? I don’t really care. I like their food. The chips and salsa are awesome! Every time I’ve come to this location, my chips have always been the right amount of warm, crispy, and salty. Paired with the salsa, it’s a winning combination. I usually get a soft taco plate or enchiladas. Tonight I had the carnitas enchiladas and they weren’t too bad. Yes, I can get better carnitas somewhere else, but I usually have a coupon or they have some kind of deal going on that allows for a decent multi-course sit-down meal while still being under budget for those last minute nights where I don’t want to cook. Oh yeah, and there’s usually leftovers with all the portions. Now that I think about it, I’m sure the only reason is for the chips and salsa. Everything else is an afterthought. I like the rice and beans and the little sweet tamalito that comes with everything. So these are the real reasons I like Chevy’s: chips, salsa, rice, beans, sweet tamalito, drinks. Oh, and my husband who is possible a little boy trapped in a man’s body sometimes asks to play with some tortilla dough. Let’s call that another reason.

Why no love for Chevy’s? Come on, people! It’s a chain with«Fresh Mex» whatever that means. I came here for a happy hour/early dinner with some friends a few nights ago. We sat in the bar area at a table with stools and ordered several margaritas. The server was super friendly and accommodated a drink request of mashed jalapeño in a margarita. She also wasn’t pushy in the least about having us order food. The one thing I would complain about is that we only had our chips refilled once, and that was by an observant busboy. They also let me use a free appetizer coupon for my chicken quesadilla. All in all, it was a pretty regular experience. Minus one star for their über weak margaritas. Giant glasses, little alcohol.

Came here a week ago because we got that awesome coupon. I think it was the 2nd entrée was $ 3 or something. Our Hispanic male waiter was really nice, professional and attentive. Probably the best and nicest waiter that we’ve had at this Chevy’s branch so far. The chips and salsa(my favorite part) came quickly, as well as my delicious root beer soda. Yum! Our dishes came quickly and we devoured our food. Our waiter was SO attentive that one look at my empty soda glass prompted him to snatch my glass and refill it with soda within a minute. I’ve never seen such enthusiasm! Haha. I’m just really pleased that our waiter helped us out so much. I never expect this kind of service anywhere and he was just really taking care of us. He wasn’t hanging around us, but he checked on us OFTEN to make sure we had everything we needed. Very sweet. Before this recent dinner, our dining experience was mediocre or worse. But, if I get this waiter all the time, I’d come every week! haha.

I’d like to rate Chevy’s 1 or 2 stars more(for the food and drinks), at least… but not this particular location. I came here on a nice summer evening for happy hours with my gfs. We enjoyed our meals with a margarita or two or three(which is super good)…BUT, we had to ask our server to change our drinks probably 3x or more bc 1) a hair was in it and 2) bugs would fly in. It got to the point that the manager actually came out to ask if we should just sit somewhere else. Rude! It’s not like we were hoping those flies would land in our drinks to score new ones…

Whenever I see the signs of Chevy’s, it always remind me of the neon light that attracts flies. I know that Chevy’s food is not that good, I would say below average, and I got to pay the above average price for the food. But whatever I see the neon sign of Chevy, I would get sucker by it. I always want to go in because of the colorful sign and believe that the food will be good. The food just doesn’t taste that good and the quantity is not great either. I would always joke about it that you get a BIG plate at Chevy but it comes with a small amount of food. I think something it is wrong when they serve the food and you can see at least 40% of the white(which means the food only cover 60% of the plate). I think the services is ok, but because of the below average food and overpriced menu. I would not go to Chevy’s again.

Great place to have an evening drink with a friend on a weeknight. not crowded; not too loud and great service(too good actually; we got asked how we’re doing about every 10 minutes). and its convenient location allows you to go for a walk down santana row, to walk off the margaritas before you get behind the wheel :)

Chevy’s is a great place to go to during happy hour. Their on tap drinks are a great deal and the food is just as good. My favorite dishes are the quesadillas and steak tacos. I would say the Chevy’s chain is what applebees and chili’s should be like. The service here was great and the waitress was always refilling our drinks and checking up on us. To sum things up, a great place to go with your friends for lunch or dinner.

I happened to have some coupons the last couple weeks for buy 1 get 1 meals and have always loved Chevy’s closer to downtown San Jose on Taylor ave. Both weeks at this location it took them at least 10 minutes to even greet us. Last night took over 20 minutes with no greet or drink over only ending when the manager finally seeing how frustrated we were came over and took our order(I also have a 3 year old so if you can imagine a tornado of energy asking everyone over and over again for milk and being ignored the whole time by the staff.) Our«server»(or who was obviously supposed to be due to the fact he took every table around us, even people seated after us) avoided us the whole time, most likely because he knew he blew it and no one checked back once and we had to chase down a person serving chips to get our bill. Epic fail on every front, I love the food but this location has the WORST service I’ve ever had in this corporate chain. I would suggest avoiding at all costs and driving a little bit farther and going to the new one over on tailor, near the target.

HAPPYHOUR! Fantastico happy hour M-F, 3p –7p. $ 3 Margaritas and $ 3 apps! Sat outside on the patio enjoying the long summer sun, sipping frozen strawberry margarita. They also had seasonal watermelon and peach flavors in addition to the traditional margarita flavor. VERY tasty. Also shared a Fajita Nacho with grilled chicken. It’s the kind of nachos where each chip is pre-loaded with meat and melted cheese. Guac, sour cream and tomatoes sit in the center of the plate for your own add ons. Probably about 12 big nacho pieces. All for $ 3. Service was really friendly and attentive. Really a pleasant surprise for a tex-mex chain.

So you may think Chevy’s is not a 4-star place because it’s just burritos and tacos and fajitas… I didn’t think it was a 4-star place until I went there for happy hour with my coworkers. I work in this building so I can easily order lunch and/or dinner, but I never went for happy hour because the only thing I’d think about when work ended was to go home and relax. I guess we were all having a rough day in the office so we decided to do happy hour… We go downstairs and to our disbelief, the place is PACKED! We were thinking where did all these people come from? Our building? Anyway, we got the last table and we sat down to look at the menu — $ 3APPETIZERS and $ 3MARGARITAS!!! nom.. .totally worth it! We got an order of the fajita nachos and WOW. they were HUGE! They had all the toppings and it came out nice and hot too(no cold cheese or meat). Oh and I must admit I love their chips and salsa: P We also orderd the buffalo wings — yum, sweet with a kick of spiciness. Those two are definitely worth $ 3 each and if you’re super hungry, I’d recommend getting the flautas(love their sweet dipping sauce).

It is all about the service… maybe because it was nearly empty until the gaggle of nurses came in… but our server, Angel, was excellent! Chips as always appeared at our table and we also asked for some tortillas and when the first small basket was emptied, we were quickly offered another. Honestly this has been the best service we have gotten in a while since Xanh… if we have to be in a depression for this kind of attention then bring on the dust bowl. I now carry the Chevys coupons in my car so for just such an emergency where to eat situation and it is after 9 pm after getting my Sony recycling 100 $ valued gift and using up my free credit at Men’s Wearhouse… this was a real nice topper to the evening. So bring on the 4 yummie crispy tacos packed with chicken and pork. Love it.

Went here for Happy Hour with my two favorite fellow«broke» asses… hehe love you guys! I don’t really know if this is a newer location, but it’s one of the nicer Chevy’s I’ve been too. We circled the parking lot twice before getting a spot though since the lot is relatively small and looks like the office buildings in the area share the parking lot as well. The three of us came in a little before 3 for the Happy Hour from 3 – 7(check the site or with your local Chevy’s, b/c not all of them participate in this). We had to wait a few minutes to actually order though because it was not 3 yet, service was fast & friendly also. My dilemma of the day was to get a drink or not($ 3 margaritas!!!), since I had to go to the salon later that night & study for a midterm I decided to pass & had a few sips of my friend’s huge strawberry raspberry margarita which was good even for my picky tequila tongue even though it had Jose Cuervo in it. My cheapness & bargain shopper side showed when I decided to order the spicy wings & the steak fajita nachos minus the beans… good thing I had big eaters with me… the portions are not measly at all, I got 10 wings and still had leftovers. The wings weren’t spicy but still good with a BBQ-tasting sauce and a side of ranch. The fajita nachos even came with a side of guac. They have a good Happy hour with drink specials. And $ 3 food specials too but a limited selection of only 4 appetizers: spicy wings, flautas, fajita nachos, & nachos grande. McCormick’s is still my favorite place to go to for food for happy hour in SJ and they don’t have drink specials, but Chevy’s is a good place for cheap eats & drinks for there happy hour. If you aren’t in the mood for happy hour food their crab & shrimp quesadillas, crispy tacos & santa fe chicken salad with apple chipotle vinaigrette are also yummy. And of course I love their tortilla chips but they really shrunk their chip bowls, I remember when it was twice the size!

Lucky for me, I don’t live too far from this place. I haven’t tried their entrees but caught their happy hour menu. Geez… if you haven’t known me by now, I am a definite person for happy hour. I like finding good and bad places to try out for specialty drinks but at a decent price range. Even though this place isn’t muy caliente… you can sip on margaritas before heading to SR for some fun!
