Convention Plaza Hotel

Rooms were very nice and at a good location. Hate it wasnt right off the Hwy but a few miles wasnt to bad. Did not like that there werent many 24 hour restaurants around hotel. We had to drive to eat late at night. Parking was very easy. WIll stay again.

The Convention Plaza Hotel is thankfully changing into a Hyatt Place in 2012. While there is nothing really wrong with it, the housekeeping could be way better. Draws, lamp shades, and walls were filthy. I had to ask for my lampshade to be replaced three times before it actually happened. Displays in the common areas are dusty; gym equipment is awful. Housekeeping never replaced my shower caps, so I constantly had to visit the front desk.
Rooms were spacious, and the bed comfy. Lots of plugs, two mirrors, plus a fairly modern look and nice lighting, all of which is appreciated.
Fire alarms on all floors do not work — I was on the phone with my friend, two floors above me, and the only reason I heard the fire alarm is because I heard it through the phone. And my room was next to the fire alarm. Thankfully, the fire alarm was a prank, but still, I was the only one to leave my floor during it.
Surprisingly, staff is extremely friendly. I hope all guest-​interfacing staff stays during the transition, because they were awesome. Oh, and my hotel door noted that room prices are usually $ 499.00 per night. Though I think those door listings are usually wrong, this one was definitely wrong. No way is any room here worth $ 499.00.

Nice modern updates. Lobby is very nice. We had a room with two queen beds, and it was spacious. We even had a crib. Convenient location. Very close to Market Street and within walking distance to restaurants and attractions. Friendly staff. Free Stabucks coffee in the lobby. Only con is that the hotel is right next to a lightrail train station, and the noise was a bit disturbing at night until the trains stopped running. Air conditioning unit in the window was a bit loud but didn’t bother us. Actually, it served as good white noise. I would stay here again.
