Master(Major) Kim is a personable instructor who really does care about your personal growth. Hapkido is a Korean combat martial art. Master Major Kim is an accomplished martial artist who holds advanced degrees in the arts of Kung Fu, Kendo, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Hapkido… besides being a retired Major from the South Korean Special Forces. Hapkido takes the foundation of Tai Chi, adds the best punches and kicks of Tae Kwon Do, and combines it with the throws, locks, and breaks of Jiu-Jitsu. When I first joined Eagle Talon Martial Arts the«warm up» exercises were painful, but now, after a couple of months 2x-3x a week, I understand the reason why I was put through the pain… the warm ups help with your foundation. The white belt is your foundation(basics), and they will make sure you learn them. This school emphasizes«a way of life»… warm ups every class, meditation every class. This is a school full of good people who care about you and your development. Small class sizes, which makes for great learning. I think the largest class I have attended was seven people. Major Kim has real life experience and has tailored his Eagle Talon Marital Arts ways for real world situations. I would advise that if you really want to learn real world applicable Hapkido, join ETMA.

Practicing hapkido here at Eagle Talon Martial Arts strengthens the body, mind, and spirit. Master Kim is a great mentor in martial arts and life. He adapts to each student and challenges us constantly. All the while, he keeps a positive and encouraging attitude. The focus here is good body/mental health and self-defense. You don’t need to be big, strong, and powerful to succeed here. Also, the lesson hours are great for working professionals. Master Kim holds two adult classes in the evening. Class sizes are relatively small.

Great place for health and fitness. Master Kim is very patient and helpful with new students. He has a unique style that helps students learn how to strengthen and control their bodies. The goals of the studio are for longevity and health and not just self defense.
