This place had good food but man, I wanted some wings! Most places I go to for Dim Sum have chinese chicken wings and they’re always amazing. Obviously that’s not the primary reason you go to dim sum but it’s motivation for me. It’s okay, the seafood they had to offer was good and I’d probably come back. Also, they could add variety. We saw the same 10 items about 8 times… if I didn’t like their offerings I’d be disappointed without more of a selection.

Been coming here since I was a kid, before Unilocal was invented so this review is kind of late. But we were recently here for dim sum. This is also a very well known place for dim sum & this is usually the first place anyone thinks of. Been coming here for a long time so the owner knows who we are & always takes care of us himself personally by showing us to our table, getting our drinks & sometimes chats with my family. I believe he also owns the pearl drink place a couple of doors down from here & a couple other locations too. Staff is friendly & prices are fair for dim sum & for regular dinner at night. They have a main room & a smaller room next door that they use for parties & overflow customers. This place does get packed on holidays but they take reservations. You can rent this place out for parties & weddings that I’ve been to a lot of & seen. Place is great, service is great, owner is great, I’ll be back for both dinner & dimsum!

My family and I used to come here ALLTHETIME for dim sum but because it’s far from us, we hardly ever go. If I’m in the area and craving for dim sum or just hungry, I think this place is decent. Food is good, authentic. Service is fast, friendly. I think this place is better on the weekends because they’re more busy. When they’re more busy, they have more food carts=more food.

DON’T GOHERE! We did a birthday dinner here with total of 22 people. The foods took forever to come out & very small portion for the price that they charge! I ordered some white rice & they gave 2 big bowls. Guess how much they charge me for it? Holy shit $ 33 for 2 bowls of rice. I asked the waitress, she said charge $ 1.50 for each person. That’s stupid… I can buy 50lbs bag of rice for that amount. She was giving us attitude. after we argue for bit she cut down ½ price for stupid white rice, still expensive… ridiculous! Food & service overall suck! Never going there again! Very Bad service & food!

I’ve been coming here for Dim Sum since I was a kid since I live near here, but this is my first time writing a review for it. The main reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because of the inconsistent service. When it’s slow, the staff dote on you and the service is top class; however, when the restaurant starts getting busy the service drops drastically. They will start forgetting what you ordered and asking if you want something off the cart even after you’ve said no. Sometimes i notice that they’ll have staffing issues like ‘too few people on a Saturday’ so everyone gets overwhelmed. The menu consists of all the foods is what you’d expect from a dim sum restaurant. My family usually gets a little bit of everything. My brother and I get water, while our parents get hot tea. The taste of the food isn’t amazing but I’d probably place it just above average. I’ll be back because I live in the area and anywhere else is just too far. Hopefully they’ll step up their game and I can update my review.

I used to like dim sum here many years ago, I came back again yesterday and I’m telling you people to never go here the place look dead empty no customer at all and do you know why it’s because the food taste bad and expensive and they don’t have many different varieties to choose from. I would not recommend this place costly and old food. You should go to Koi Palace in Milpitas the dim sum is so so good worth every pennies. The only reason I gave this place one star is bc I had to choose one star or it won’t let me write a review.

The food was undercooked. The service was slow and rude. It took forever to get our food, and the lady snapped at us for asking what was the dish that she served. They were fast in taking our money and slow in refilling the tea, and it wasn’t even crowded. We were one out of three tables. Lousy food, lousy service!

My family has been coming here for more than 10 years. The owners are awesome. Their dim sum is awesome for any day you crave for some xiu mai. Just remember to call in ahead during the weekday so you don’t have to wait for long.

Ew. What is that stench?!? It’s like a 40 year old unrenovated building. I want to turn around and run! Why are there only six people dining in a huge room that could fit about 200 people?! All other dim sum places like Mayflower, Newport, and Koi Palace have lines out the door. And where are the servers or host?! Are we supposed to seat ourselves? This place is suspect but I am compelled to try something different. Finally a woman comes out of the kitchen and leads us to our seat. «We’d like some tea, please.» «Hold on, hold on,» she says frantically. A few minutes later, «We’d also like a glass of water, please.» «Hold on, hold on!» She’s obviously stressed out being the only one working the floor. I don’t know why, she’s doing a fine job pushing one cart at a time. Besides, there are only six customers in the restaurant! Half an hour later, a young lady comes to work to help her out. I had my dubious assumptions but the food was surprisingly great! It was the first time I’ve tried porridge at a dim sum and now I want to try it again. I was pleased with the Siu Mai and the steamed buns were perfect ! I wouldn’t get the Har Gow again, it just wasn’t good and I’ve had better. The egg tarts were impressive with their crispy, flaky shell and silky creamy filling. That scratched my dim sum itch! If I don’t want to deal with crazy wait times at other places I’ll come back! OH wait… I wish something could be done about the old building smell. It really turned me off.

I really like this place for dim sum. I’m not sure if it’s because we visited on Valentine’s Day, but it was not crowded at all at noontime. It was nice to just come in, be seated and literally start eating. My husband and I had the shrimp balls, shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings, clams with black bean sauce, calamari and shrimp rolls. Everything was delicious except those shrimp rolls… they were too mushy and slimy. But everything else was on point. The ladies are all very nice and helpful. And major props for a clean ladies room! Yes, it’s a hole in the wall in a dicey area but it was well worth it. We will be back.

Monday afternoon is definitely empty but they serve you quick and beyond your needs. They definitely treat you well here and try to feed you as much as they can. The only awkward thing is that, they stare at you when you eat… Food is definitely delicious here and the selections are huge! Ordered har cow(2), rice noodles rolls with shrimp(4), chicken feet, pork dumplings, and shrimp balls(amazing and super crispy!) Total was only around $ 40! Cheap, delicious, and tons of food!

12÷26÷15: As a dimsum place, I would say that the dishes are about average at best. They did however have some bad dishes, but also some really good ones as well. Service was surprisingly good for a real dimsum place – in fact, some of the push-cart servers went out of their way to get us what we wanted, and that has never happened before at any dimsum place. For instance, my 2 favorite dim sum things are: 1. «Fried Eggs” – not the real name, but I dunno what they are called. They’re basically fried balls shaped like eggs, made with rice flour, and inside is some meat concoction. But these things do not taste good cold. So I asked the server if they were hot, and she said no, but she will get me some that are. And sure enough, 5min later she came back with these piping hot! NEVER, has the server offered to get me hot and fresh ones, and I ask how they are everywhere I go. That’s service.(Unfortunately this was one of the bad tasting things they had. The shell was really strange – very eggy tasting. I dunno what they did to it to make it taste different, but it’s no good.) 2. «Furry Things” – again, not the real name, but it’s what I call them. They would be taro balls deep fried such that they have this furry coating around them. Again, stuffed with a meat concoction. This was on the plate holding my fresh Fried Eggs, and I happily snatched them up. Never had them so hot and fresh! And unlike the Fried Eggs, these were really good! The rest of the stuff was somewhat uninspiring except for: 3. Chicken Feet: This might be the best version I’ve had ever! There was far more skin and meat than other places and the flavor was a little different too – maybe a bit sweeter. The texture was super perfect – firmer than the mess of skin at other places, but still soft and tender. Really great! OH, ONEMORETHING: This also has NEVER happened at a dimsum place – the waiter came over when my tea cups were empty and actually poured me more from the pot!!! Amazing! Anyway, aside from the fantastic service, the food is mostly average. Oh well. 3⁄5 #dimsum #cantonese #chinese

There’s a reason why this place is dead on a Saturday during lunch hour… their dim sum is whack. The same carts kept rolling around and the dim sum was tiny! I felt so bad/annoyed that the same ladies kept coming around asking if we wanted the same items. Like omg, let me eat in peace without shutting you down every 2 minutes. No means no! I was really disappointed in both their char siew bao and liu sha bao(duck egg custard) because the bread was so dry! I was thinking that the liu sha bao would be amazing since it was made to order, but nope, they still managed to dry out the bread. Our total was $ 60(before tip) for 12 items for 4 people. This was a bit more than I had imagined and we were still hungry. I would take my money elsewhere for better quality dim sum.

Fried shrimp balls, sesame ball dessert, xiu mai, taro root cake, shrimp crêpe(mmm) all these are delicious. I have been a loyal customer for years straight and the food never dissapoints me. They always come around asking if we want more food as well. Never got a problem with being checked up on, water refills, never had to wave down a waiter. They can be a little smart though. But I’ve never had any real problems with this place. It can be super packed or dead, there’s never an in between. This place is delicious. 5 stars for the food, the customer service, and how big the place is(very roomy, don’t worry about being cluttered, unless you’re there during a wedding. If you hate loud music and being around a lot of people, come back when there isn’t an event. I dont mind because I enjoy watching the performances on stage. Lol) P.S — don’t judge the place by the outside! I thought at first«where the hell is my family taking me… «while walking down through this dirty ass plaza and walkway. Its located in the back of a plaza surrounded by boba stores, but give it a try! You won’t be dissapointed.

My bf’s favorite place for dim sum. I’m not a big dim sum afficionado, so I haven’t tried a lot of dim sum places to compare it to. But I’ll write a review solely based on my experiences here. Every time I’ve been here I’ve been seated promptly and there has always been at least 5 tables there eating. The service is pretty decent. For most Asian establishments, I don’t expect servers to get what I ask for right away but this place hasn’t disappointed me in that aspect so far. All the dishes that we get off the carts are spewing hot(hopefully they’re fresh too lol). I think my favorite dish is the shrimp roll(wrapped with the rice cake paper). I don’t know if you can mess up making that dish, but it sure is delicious! I’ll be coming back for more dim sum in the future.

My family and I LOVE coming here for dimsum. We’ve been coming here for years to have their delicious dimsum, but we decided to try their dinner menu for the first time and we absolutely loved it. Cindy and her husband are always wonderful and know how to make their customers happy and enjoy their experience here. I am very picky with my dim sum because if too greasy, I often get stomach aches after. All of their dimsums are perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. Sho long pau, siu Mai, and their shrimp dimsums are a must try here. Dip them in soy sauce with jalapeño or red vinegar and ginger slices and you’re good to go! All of the workers are at attentive and friendly while going around offering food. Try their sizzling rice soup as well. Flavorful and good portions. We tried their fried whole lobster and their sea bass special menu for dinner and they were both extremely flavorful and excellent to try. We also had their sizzling seafood as well as their bitter greens to go with the main two dishes, and they were delicious. I definitely will be going back to try more of their dinner dishes on their menu. Customer service is extremely important to me along with the food, and I will always be a returning customer here with my family because of their welcoming and attentive service they provide

I live five minutes away from here. The food is decent. They used to be decently priced but today I charged in excess of 25 dollars for the same or less food then what we had today. I work everyday because I also have my own business so this is easy for me to get food and go straight to work but it’s kind of outrageous that I should pay so much for three people to eat. Also not a great place for families of children because there are two male waiters who constantly throw f bombs and«du ma»(mother f@&$ers) around at each other while they pace the floor. I’m sorry but a Sunday brunch shouldn’t be interrupted by cursing and swearing for games. We pay good money for food, service and ambience. If you want this kind of behavior you can go back to vietnam or any south East Asian back alley market. It’s sad but I’m Vietnamese and even when I travel there I avoid these type of establishments. I adore the ownership here as well as the other waitresses so u try to avoid tipping less but if he was the only one servicing me I wouldn’t give him half a penny. Many friends and even myself are thinking about wedding venue. I would never allow them to book here or consider this just because of this person. He could potentially ruin the event. This review comes with a lot of sadness. I don’t want to write it and I would change it in a heartbeat if I found that the establishment changed for the better. Fire or move the guys to the back. Check pricing. Maintain good quality food. These are my honest reviews. I’m so sorry but this is the third time it’s been this way and the first time I paid this much.

Came through here right after Lunar New Year for lunch and it was packed! I haven’t had a decent dim sum experience in a long time, but this place was a great choice to swing by for lunch! The food is pretty darn fresh and the staff is courteous. I would say the only drawback I had for this place was the fact that parking can be a little tight during peak times. Other than that, a great place for dim sum!

I really don’t know why there are so many bad reviews on here!!! I love dim sum, but the ones near San Jose suck. So whenever I’m craving, Grand Fortune is where I go! The prices are relatively low(compared to other dim sum places) and their food is delicious! On weekdays, they don’t have carts. This is probably due to it being relatively slow. But honestly, I’d rather have my dim sum freshly made than sitting in a cart, waiting for someone to grab it. On the weekends, the carts here are definitely the fastest I’ve encountered. Service is super fast! The owners are a Chinese couple, who are trilingual! I’ve talked to the wife, Sandy, multiple times and apparently, she picked up languages just by working there. She’s amazingly nice-you’ll recognize her by the way she holds the o in her«helllooooooooo“s. Definitely don’t be scared by the bad reviews, try this place for yourself. ANDGETTHEDUCK. Their duck is amazing– I can finish a whole order myself(probably more) and they give you plenty!
