I’ve had two root canals done by Dr. Alan Hiura. Both were amazingly painless.
My understanding is that Dr. Hiura specialize in root canals, and it shows. He does excellent work. I never felt rushed, the atmosphere was very relaxed, but both times we were done in what seemed like only a short time.
He answered all my questions and made sure I was doing ok throughout the procedure. I recommend him without hesitation.
I also recommend his brother Dr. Jerry Hiura at Japantown Dental; he does general dentistry, and has the same deft touch.

I had a pain in my molar and saw my regular dentist a year ago. He said he couldn’t find anything wrong and so I went to my regular MD and got a round of antibiotics for an assumed nasal infection. The paid subsided for a while, but came back after about 2 months. I have had a terrible nasal problem for about 4 months and tooth sensitivity. I was just going to wait until my regular cleaning to find out about the tooth, but the pain got really bad, so I returned to my regular dentist.
He said that again he could find nothing wrong with my tooth, and suggested that maybe the tooth was cracked and I needed a crown and/​or a root canal. He suggested a dentist for the root canal. I told my wife about the situation and she recommended that I don’t take the recommendation, and that instead I see her dentist Alan Hiura. I called and got an appointment the next day.
Dr. Hiura was very thorough and took a new round of x-​rays and voila! He found that I had an abscess in the root of the tooth and a bad infection. He immediately performed the root canal (which was surprisingly painless).
I commend Dr. Hiura on his professionalism and deft touch with my problem. I have extreme dental sensitivity and was very happy with the careful and gentle way Dr. Hiura handled the procedure. Dr. Hiura has a great demeanor and is very skilled. I would recommend him to anyone needing a root canal.

My Regular Dentist, Dr. Pepper, referred me to this office a few years back when I needed a root canal. Root canals are right up there with proctological exams on the list of fun things to do. But, this time I was in pain and so, bit the bullet as they say.
Everything the other review says is true. When you are sitting in the waiting area and you hear patients joking and laughing, you know you are in good hands.
