Hot Spot Espresso and Cafe

This place’s layout, atmosphere, size, service, and menu was superb. I consider it a lost gem. Not many out together as well as this one — and it breathed like a coffee shop from the homeland.

I went with a buddy of mine… I had ice coffee… where as he had Avocado smoothie. The atmosphere is ok. The service is mediocre. We got the service late, and not even once got the tea refills.
The quality of coffee shops is much better near Tully/​Story road…

THE WEAKEST COFFEE I’ve ever had. It tastes like coffee, but it has zero strength. The service is quite terrible. Experience… I’ve heard from many people it was weak especially to my standards. Lets forget about that.
I ordered a straight black den da. The girl gives me a sua da. I said this isn’t black, so the girl talks to her boss Tammy and she looks at me, says why do you want a den da? Just drink this one

Definitely would prefer Hot Spot over other coffee shops cause it’s not filled with too many old perverted guys. At least the times I’ve went. Girls are not as raunchy either, so if you’re cool with that, then come here!

$ 5 for a Banh Mi?! Damn that’s expensive but if I ate it there versus taking it to go I probably would have upgraded my review to 4 stars cause the talent there is pretty good! For the time I was there waiting for my sandwich to be made I noticed that the place was clean and the vibe was pretty chill. I got some crappy tea to sip on and that’s about it. Watched some sports highlights and music videos, got my sandwich and cut out.
When I got around to eating the sandwich is was actually hella good. The meat was tender and the vegetables were crisp and the bread yummy. I would come back here just for that but next time I will try and stay and enjoy the scenery if you know what i mean!

I come here for the orange juice with no sugar.

This establishment is very well put together! The moment I stepped in I was greeted and helped. Everything was clean not run down like some other coffee shops. I had the vietnamese ice coffee and order some Banh Mi’s. OMG so gooooood! My experienced here was great and will definitely come back!
Wifi was available for me to work on my laptop if I needed to. Also the Megatouch machines incase I get bored!

Just another coffee spot in SJ. About 20 tables inside, with one full wall of tables with megatouch games. Yay for Megatouch!
I came here with my Buds to hang out on Columbus Day. Yes that is a real HOLIDAY. Atleast in my world. :) It’s so hard to find time to just hang out and do nothing, but If I can, I love to go to coffee shops.
The ladies here are nice, and pretty and tall ! Drools!
The coffee here is good, service is fast as usual.
The down side. If you want to sit outside, there is not a view and you are basically sitting on the sidewalk. Alot of other coffee shops have patios and outside areas. Here, you are sidewalk sitting lol.
Of course I would come back because it is ridiculously close to my friend’s house, and that is probably why they frequent this place as well.

Bomb ass Coconut Juice and Vietnamese Coffee here. Its quite roomy here and the ladies are very nice.
I like this location a lot more than their old one on Berryessa. The parking is more spacious and has more spaces. Not as much outside seating as their old place but still good.
Hope this place stays.

For some reason I totally thought this place was new. Maybe it used to be new, closed, and then reopened? It definitely looks pretty new inside. I want to say this is as good as it probably gets since every time I’m here, the service has been top notch.
My friends and I discovered this spot near my house and I was immediately curious to try since they had a bigger food menu than most of these coffee places. Although when I ended up going we had already eaten, I definitely loved their coffee.
They allow you to customize it with as much or as little creamer as you want. It comes hot /​cold and the quality is really excellent. Not watered down like some other places. I think it might be a bit more expensive
Totally recommended and open until 11PM every night!
Side note: the only thing that really bothers me is that at these places you get served tea as standard (iced tea to be specific). However, every time I come here, they give me iced water with a straw.
What? Am I missing something? All my guy friends get iced teas …

From the exterior of the store, it looks sparse and boring, but once inside there are…
20 plasma/​LCD TV showing various channels that include; music videos, sports, national geographic, poker shows & etc. There are two monitors that display the Hot Spot lottery, you can pick your lottery numbers here. Plenty of chairs and tables for seating, solidly constructed of metal, so there will be none of that cheap wobbly plastic chairs that typically frequent mediocre Viet cafes. Electronic touch screen with game emulators and a touch screen table gadget that looked like the Windows Surface
, but probably isn’t.
Wi-​fi is free and fast, so that’s great, just ask one of the owners or waitresses for the password.
Three surprising factors of this place;
1. It is actually surprisingly very clean and sanitary. The tables and surface counters do not feel sticky, icky, grimy or look disturbingly disgusting, so you can feel a little bit more reassured for your health. The ground is also free of clutter, dirt and litter. Also, the place is bug free/​fly free or so I didn’t see any while I was here
2. The girls are actually pretty and appealing to look at. They are young, so they don’t need that much make up to cover any wrinkles or any factors of aging. It actually looks more on the natural side instead of caked on as opposed to many of the other Viet café girls that wear excessive make up. I think some of the girls will wear brightly colored eyeshadow to purposely stand out. They are cute looking and wear very high heels that make you think «No way are Asians that tall» if you had not known. Also, their personality matches their looks, as in beautiful inside and out, as super corny as that sounds. They are friendly, sweet, helpful and full of smiles. They pay attention to the customers and consistently refill your drinks
3. The food or the sandwich and avocado shake I had was very good and tasty. I’ve had plenty of avocado shakes before and the ones here taste fresh and delicious, I would even say its better than the avocado shake at Hydration. No artificial or powdery taste. The banh mi dat biet is also a treat to your taste buds. The ingredients used are fresh and I love the crunchiness of the veggies and the savoriness of the egg and spread
The customers that frequent the place will mostly be males, but don’t let that deter you ladies! They seem pretty harmless and if they are boisterous, I am sure the staff would put them in place.
Cons:
If you’re a girl they give you water instead of tea, unless you ask for it.

I felt like I was in Vietnam all over again being in this coffee shop. I needed coffee after dim sum, so my friend suggested this place.
TV’s every where with different channels on. You can watch sports to anything else on the tube. Music ranges from Vietnamese music to top 40s hip hop.
Now the reason why I came here. One Vietnamese Ice Coffee with condensed milk (café sua da) and a sandwich with one fried egg, Chinese sausage, pork sausage, topped with pickled veggies and cilantro, splashed with soy sauce all on a fresh French baguette. OMGosh, I was in breakfast heaven!
Funny how every coffee shop, the waitress gives me my boyfriend’s drink, Bac Sieu, which is the lighter coffee and sweeter. So cute! hehe. But I only drink café sua da.
We played cards while we sipped on coffee. Never once rushed. The waitress makes sure she checks on our table and refills our water and tea without us asking.
I get why the guys come here, but now I have a reason to come here! *thumbs up!*

Not gonna lie, they have the best coffee in San Jose.
I don’t like going into coffee shops. so I send in my guy to get my a café sua da and one of their specialty sandwiches which is simply delicious! Try to get it early in the afternoon because they run out fast.

Pros:
— Pretty waitresses.
— Lots of TVs showing different sports (main sports feature with audible volume, ie: NFL playoffs).
CONS:
— Lots of second-​hand cigarette smoke! A bit amusing to see «no-​smoking» placards on the walls that the patrons ignore. The staff don’t even bother enforcing it.
— Cigarette smoke sticking to your clothes, body, face, and hair.
— No high-​definition programs.
— Uncomfortable chairs.
— Waitresses do not look friendly when serving.
Drinks like coffee and smoothies were about $ 5. Unsweetened tea-​flavored water is free and periodically refilled.
Me and my buddies could only tolerate so much smoke and the eye-​stinging, so we left this café during half-​time of a football game.
Won’t be coming back. Not recommended for people who value their lungs.

Lots of TVs, girls are nice, lots of video touch games and refills come all the time for your water/​tea! Love it! This place would be great for watching sports events, so I’ll probably come back to watch a game sometime.
Can’t wait to come back!

HOT SPOT ESPRESSO & CAFE
Excellent cocktail and grass jelly drinks. Good Vietnamese coffee. Lots of TVs to watch sports games. The best Vietnamese sandwiches ever, as the special is huge, chock-​full with a variety of meats, and the egg tops it off, giving the ‘wich a deliciously moist texture! Ambience is nice, and there is also a bar in the establishment, although no alcoholic drinks are served. Say Hi to the owner, Luan… and of course, the eye candy is top-​notch!!! The candy comes in a variety of flavors, but they are all pleasant!

A Vietnamese coffee shop worth going to and close to home as well! A lot of TV’s, great eye candy and free Wi-​Fi. What more can you ask for?
BTW, if you’re hungry, the dac biet banh mi is pretty damn good too. I definitely come here to kill a few hours and kick it with my homies.

This place is not such a bad place. They have HD flat screens all around, good coffee but sometimes its strong and some its not I dont know I like it medium. But I have never tried their food.
Pros– good music, good tv channels, good games, hoochie girls?
Cons– you really smell like ciggarettes after, the bathrooms are gross.
Workers are nice, but they sometimes don’t even take your order because they dont see you come in. Or they do and they assume you dont want anything because your joining a group of friends.

Not a bad place to relax, play games, read a book. Warning their coffee is strong, it kept me up all night…
Workers seemed nice and were quick to refill/​process my order. plenty of seating/​tables and usually not too crowded which is always a plus.

This coffee shop is ok – not too shabby. The drinks are ok although their coffee seems to be a little too much on the sweet side for me sometimes.
Service here is just ok too. I’ve come here a couple of times when the waitresses would do one of two things:
1. Take my order and completely forget about making my drink.
2. Not take my order at all because they didn’t see me walk through the door.
Usually when I remind them, they’re really nice, so they just apologize and bring me whatever I ordered. However, there WAS that one time, when I ordered from one waitress who forgot, and then my friend asked another waitress to either remind the first waitress or make it for me herself. Half an hour later, I was still drink-​less!
Aside from that, my experiences at Hot Spot haven’t been too bad. What I like about this place the most is the line of MegaTouch game systems they have set up on the side; they have the new 2010 games! What I thought was rather interesting was that one year for Christmas, they gave out scratchers to all the customers as a gift!
The parking lot is RIDICULOUSLY small, so be wary of going when it’s packed. Sometimes, the bathroom runs out of soap for days, maybe even weeks before someone refills it.
