Great sandwiches, esp Philly cheesesteak. French fries is also great. Not that many people in lunch time. They derserve to have more customers.

I was on my own for lunch on Friday. With no Asian coworkers(who all hate cheese for some reason), I decided to look at what was in the area. As I respect Tram’s opinions, I figured close + cheesesteak = win. The place is a great hole in the wall. Old bar, a pool table in the back, some regulars and straight out of the 80s benches. Promptly ordered two phillys(one for me, one for my boss) and waited a few minutes for the fresh meaty goodness. To those saying this is the best philly cheesesteak in town, I now want to cry: for my own taste buds, and for your lack of understanding a real cheesesteak. A real cheesesteak doesn’t just have cheese melted on top — no, you melt the cheese with the meat so that every bite is a perfect mix of meaty/cheesy/greasy goodness. I had to message one of my best friends, as whenever we had Dude Days we would always hit up Philly Phlava. The memory of that place makes me continue to yearn for a true cheesesteak. That said, the fries were cooked perfectly. I would go back just for the fries. Warning: They also put jalapenos and mushrooms on this. I actually did enjoy the heat from the jalapenos, but HATE mushrooms.

Absolutely the best Philly cheesesteak in town. Don’t order anything other than the Philly. It’s all you should eat!

This place is in an industrial complex and pretty much reflects that inside. There was one guy at the bar that didn’t say a word and one at the back counter where you place the order who didn’t say much either. I ordered the Philly and it was just ok. Had some taste but was small and overpriced. Philly, Fries, Coke were $ 12.00 I would say Amato’s on Saratoga Ave is much better taste and value. Not great — not terrible. Probably won’t return for a second go at it.

this place has got to have the randomest business hours. we’ve been trying to come here for a month and the times that i have called no one has answered. you would assume that this would be a turn off and we’d look for somplace else, but you’d be wrong. this place can open for an hour every 3rd monday at midnight for all i care and we’d still come. totally love the vibe here. super relax non douchy people who just want to have a drink and enjoy a philly steak sandwhich. it’s not a fancy place by any means but the food is good.

This place is dark. I mean you walk in, and it’s pretty dark. I worked really close to this place, and the office needed something for lunch. So I decided to order a pizza from here. I called it in, and left a little while later to pick it up. When I walked in there were two people sitting at the bar, just hanging out. It looked like they had been there for awhile, and where planning on being there for awhile longer. The bartender directed me to the cash register where I waited. And waited. And waited. There was a man in the back talking on his cell phone. He saw me standing there, but made no effort to assist me. He didn’t ask me to wait, he didn’t even make eye contact with me. He finally finished his conversation came to the front, I paid for the pizza and then left. It wasn’t a bad exchange, but it wasn’t great. The pizza itself was only okay. Nothing special. We got a hawaiian pizza. The pineapple was fine, the ham was a little iffy. One of my office mates liked the pizza, one didn’t. So I guess you can be the judge.

I dunno about the best cheesesteak, but its decent. It has kind of a kick to it with some spices they use. They place is really hole in the wall place. Didn’t enjoy the bar patrons who smoked like right next to the door and the smells dragged into the place.

I love this little bar. The beer is cold, the people are nice and the veggie cheesesteaks are to die for.

This was a nice surprise. Unilocal came through again. I would have never seen this place otherwise. It is in an industrial building that you could easily look past. It is not much to look at on the inside either. The food is affordable and fast. The food was very good. I ordered a Philly Cheese steak with fries as recommended by the staff. It was one of the best I have had on the West coast. The meat was prepared properly and had great flavor. The bread had good flavor and was soft. The fries were solid.

This place is really good but like many said its pricy! My coworkers love the cheese pizza but I feel like it tastes like the pizza I used to get in grade school from the cafeteria! The garlic pizza is really good but a bit too garlic-eyy because when I eat it, it knocks me out and am very unproductive second half of the day! Minus one star for selling a two liter soda for $ 4 – 5 and for being too dark in there!

I think I just died and went to cheesy heaven. Love story goes like this: EDIT: I ordered a Philly cheesesteak, NOT pizza, folks! — finally knocked out this bookmark! — I called ahead to place my order. — when I arrived 10 minutes later, it was waiting for me; it had my name on its cheesy goodness. — awesome service! — I decided to eat there because I could not wait to eat it. I mean, the drive back to the office will take about 5 minutes! That is way too long for a girl to wait. — it’s super cheesy, meat is tender, onions and peppers are evenly distributed throughout. — awesome guy checked on me during my meal. — after I cleaned my plate, I handed the guy my fork(for the goodies that dropped from the Philly) then the guy asked how it was, again, awesome service. — Me: «Extremely delicious but I am still hungry.» — Him: «Big appetite for that small frame of yours.» I will be back. I need to watch the next Sharks’ game here and devour more. OMG. I am deeply in love. Please note that this was so good that I just came back to the office after my fill and needed to write a review stat. Opens Mon-Fri only though :(

This place is money. The Philly cheese-steak is awesome. The garlic lover’s pizza is even better. Eat here. The end.

Bought the combo and Hawaiian mini pizzas to go. The bread was just right and the toppings were typical. Good overall, but I didn’t really like the ham that was used. But that’s just me being very particular. I can imagine the place being good for lunch, although I came by late. Older man working behind the bar was super friendly. Gave me extra napkins and cheese/pepper packets for my pizza.

Only came here for the cheesesteaks. Even the guy ringing us up said it was their most popular item. I can easily see why. The sandwich was wholesome, greasy, cheesy, and just straight up awesome. The cheese lays melted all over the cheesesteak, binding the steak, onions, and peppers into one gooey blob of deliciousness. When bitten, the bread easily succumbs to let the goodness flow into your mouth. This place was a little hard to locate, as the street it is located on is actually a business park. Just make sure you keep an eye out for it!

Let’s get one thing clear, here: pizza is a religious experience for me. It’s the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega, the first and the last. It’s a long night at the office, and I decide to treat myself/wallow in a little self pity and order myself a pizza for dinner. Pull out the Unilocal digital rolodex and voila! Mike’s Pizza Bar & Grill, it is. I call and request delivery — am told it’s a $ 30 minimum. Whatever, just give me my pizza. I place my order and I’m short $ 8 or so for delivery… «Just throw in a cheesesteak sandwich and fries», I tell him, no doubt that the BF will appreciate something different. His voice lights up on the other end, «You’ve read the reviews? This is our most popular item, you won’t be disappointed.» Me: Fabulous. Bring on the pizza. The driver comes, I rush back to my desk and tear away all boxes, materials whatever a la Muppets Swedish chef, and I take a bite. Deee-lish. Good choice, the pizza is pretty damn good. After a few bites, I decide to try out the cheesesteak — no plans to eat more than just a taste, was simply trying to satisfy my curiousity and see what everyone else is talking about… Holy sacrilege! What in tarnation is in these sandwiches? It was like an addiction, I took one bite and could not stop myself, it was THAT good! I don’t even know what happened, it was all a blur and next thing you know, half of that sandwich was g-o-n-e. Count me in, I’m a believer.

This place is a trip. It maybe the only food related thing in this whole industrial complex out in the middle of nowhere near the frontage road of 101. They’ve got a full bar, games… i guess it’s a needed sanctuary for the workers. The owner seems really nice and he made us some unorthodox cheesesteaks that were actually pretty decent. 3.5 stars.

Simply the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwhich in all of San Jose. The meat is perfectly seasoned with cheese evenly melted over the entire sandwhich and the bread… oh the bread is divine. Always fresh, warm, soft AND crispy at the same time!?! Seriously, if you even remotely like cheesesteak, then you HAVE to try this one. And if your nice, Anil might even share his secret for the perfect philly with you. The pizzas are also outstanding with fresh toppings and a crispy crust. The beer is always very cold and the place has a pool table if you want to get in a game while waiting for your grub. It’s a little hard to find but well worth the effort once you get there.

Got off the phone with Jen today at 2 minutes to 1:00. And wanted something quick to eat, but not on a bun. So I logged into Unilocal to see what delicacies are in the area, nothing with a 5 star rating or reviews bordering on hysteria. But here was Mike’s, decent reviews and less than a mile away, And a full bar besides, in case at lunch I chose to go astray. So I jumped in my car and cruised a mile of cement, Scoped out the joint, said«what the hell», and in I went. I settled at the bar and ordered a mini pizza for my meal. And pondered a pint, because with pizza, beer is always ideal. Or maybe is was my conversation with Jen that got me thinking, That there are worse thinks around than some afternoon drinking. In the end I thought a pint of Newcastle would do no harm, And besides, the female bartender had turned on her charm. So the pizza was good and the beer hit the spot. This is defiantly a place for lunch when the day is hot. And just maybe I’ll stop by after work one day soon. To see if this place picks up in the evening, like a true saloon.

Very much caters to the working class. Kind of a cozy hole in the wall place that you might only find in the Bay Area. Caucasian and Mexican blue collar workers enjoying a pizza or cheese steak and beer with an Asian Indian guy manning the counter. Very friendly guy. The cheesesteaks are good with the exception of it being on the salty side. Next time ask for light on the salt and season it to your liking. I like the idea of the bar and I was tempted to have a beer, but I don’t think my boss would like that.
